Brand New Indian ICF made Coaches Trial Run in Sri Lanka

These are new Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches imported from Indian Railways to Sri Lanka Railways. This is the first trial run to Polgahawela in Sri Lanka Railways to check the reliability.
The latest Indian locomotive Class M11 is pulling these coaches. These stainless steel coaches are part of the supply of 160 coaches to Sri Lanka. Another 150 coaches will arrive later in Sri Lanka later. Indian Railways PSU, RITES has successfully delivered these coaches to Sri Lanka. These compartments will be used for the Jaffna line and Matara/Beliatta line in Sri Lanka Railways.

Wow being India I must say Indian railway coaches are very colourful. In India we have many livery similarly these exported to Srilanka is actually colour of its national flag, like green n red coaches to bangladesh n red n blue coaches to nepal.

Sri Lankan exported coaches don't have FIAT bogies. They are just fabricated ICF bogies with air suspension system.

Railway station tracks/stable yard tracks look pretty dilapidated in Maradana. But, I guess the trains are moving very slowly there and no need to make them perfect as it would be needed outside the stable yard. I think railway track upgrade to add more trains would be great. Taking a loan from international credit providers and expanding the railway network is a good investment for the country I think. Having consistent two lanes to lines like Jaffna, South, would make a big difference to local economy and will be able to run more freight trains as well. I realize such upgrade to the central highland track will be very expensive, but they can start it small and finish it gradually over next two decades or so. It will make big difference to freight trains to bring and take produce from/to central highlands. Save lot of trouble for the ever increasing congestion on Colombo-Kandy road and further toward central highlands. I realize these are long term projects, but should draw blueprints now and keep it outside the politics. To save wild elephant accidents, Sri Lanka can start a fundraising program with international wildlife protection NGOs and western countries to raise funds to build underpasses or overpasses to facilitate known elephant corridors, so the elephants can cross the railway track without getting hit by trains. I said this because it has been a massive problem for the wild elephant population in Sri Lanka as they have been getting hit by trains in big numbers for last ten years. It is a tragic outcome. You need more trains there, but you also need those wild elephants.

I have been to Sri Lanka many times. Please don't get offended!!! Just one request to be made. Please do ramp up infrastructure for rail. Wet lands can give way to bad tracks. Concrete them, make them hard and strong, them put the fishplates and then the rail.

Bro these coaches must belong to LHB platform. Obviously with technical changes to support running on bad quality tracks of Sri Lanka. You guys need better tracks and then only you guys can have a taste of speed of 130 kmph with these coaches. The Indian variant can go as fast as 160 kmph. But our tracks often have 110 to 120 kmph speed limit, barring some special sections with higher speed limits. you need to adopt electric traction for faster passenger and goods movement.
