aTrippyFarmer and the crew are back to bring you more farming adventures! In this episode, Andy and the crew are met with a HUGE surprise: RAIN. After a major moisture shortage for over a month, the tides turn the opposite direction, and they are pleasantly greeted with nearly 4" of rainfall. It was enough to get to see the first in-season test of the new 24" tile system, and the drainage pipe did not disappoint. Andy rides around over the next few days monitoring the drainage of water, and he talks a lot about the significance of a rainfall event at this stage in the growing season. The farm also receives another new machine: A brand new John Deere S780 Combine. Although there wasn't too many changes from year-to-year, the new John Deere S780 is a welcomed sight due to the performance issues with last year's combine. Andy ends the video by talking about application of crop protectants, and he explains their rationale for these decisions. Thanks for watching!
#Farm #Illinois #Spring #Planting #FarmingSimulator22
Andy "aTrippyFarmer" Dole is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

If the sprays do not work try (cooking) Vanilla. It will absorb the odors not mask them. Place a small tray 6 X6 or larger, i place a paper towel on the bottom, add the vanilla. Let it set, run the AC at times, & evaporate. If need be I add water to the paper towel when dry. Works in painted rooms to eliminate the odors.

You guys got some much needed rain at just the right time. I think this KZbin farm will hit the highest yields. Looking forward to seeing the new combine in action. If any of you are looking for Semi trucks for harvest, I am selling 8 trucks from my fleet. We purchased 8 new Peterbilt's so I am selling 8 of my current OTR units. I have 1 Pete 389, 1 Pete 579, and 6 KW T680's. All of them have between 400-500k miles on them. All of these are 2017-18 year model trucks with sleepers. We are selling them instead of trading them. The cost will be around 85k per truck except the 389 which will sell for about 120-130k. All of these units will have Cummins power and we can provide all the maintenance records. There is a mix of automatics and manual shift. Send me a message if interested and I will have my maintenance manager contact you with pictures etc. We will transport them for free to anywhere within 500 miles of Knoxville TN with a full price offer. We don't finance but my banker at BMO finance will gladly help out if there is a need.

I had wanted to ask you a question on combines now that you got a new one I will ask. We are looking at getting a low houred s760. However with the economy the way it is we thought maybe in time the price would lower. But the other day a local farmer said that the problem with combine prices is that there are not enough new ones being made. Not necessarily the economy. So do you think waiting till next winter they will be cheaper then last or not. Love your videos
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer Жыл бұрын
As long as the equipment production stays behind demand, the used market will stay very firm. Eventually, the price of new equipment will get too high, or the farmers will lose the excess profits they’ve had for the last few seasons. This will slow purchases down, and, ultimately, drag the used market down. You can see this same problem in the car industry. Personally, I think going with the lightly used option is the best route. These machines will lose $100,000 in value in the first 2-3 years, which is pretty ridiculous. It is cheaper to rebuild the separator components than to constantly trade for new. As for timing your purchase, it is tough to guess on the market. I doubt we see much softening between now and next winter. We are in for at least 2-3 years of high prices, especially given the energy crisis in Europe. If you can pencil the combine out and it seems like a good purchase, you might as well pull the trigger.

how are the neighbours to know you got a new combine when you buy the same one and same colour... we had the same problem with a 2plus2 international , i called it the half day tractor , dad ended up trading it after warranty was over the 2rd year....

How much would a 12 row corn head cost?
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer 2 жыл бұрын
A new 12 row folding Deere corn head is probably $150,000 if you can even get one, which you can’t. Both of our C8Rs are worth about $60,000 each.

So HAPPY you got rain. The fields look amazing & as always, Andy, you’re an excellent teacher. No, I’m not a farmer, but I’m deeply grateful appreciative of them, the wide range of skills & perseverance they have which feeds & fuels our nation. Food security is national security. Just look at Sri Lanka,liberal politicians/ECG made them go “green”, resulting in famine.The ppl rose up, politicians fled for there lives. Moral of the story-govt & their ridiculous “green” agenda needs to just step aside taking their fairy tale ECG delusions with them And,just let out farmers farm. So, we don’t face down the same famine
