Guys, check out any (or all) the songs from Band-Maid's Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and 2018 ZEPP concerts. This period is their more classic hard rock with great writing, production and audio. The songs have great air, riffs and playing!

Roger Chance is the emissary for Band Maid, thanks Roger. Best rock band on the planet. Watch HATE? live from Yokohama Arena if you haven't seen it yet. I should get you perked up. Go with live.

I fully agree with this song, along with many other songs sound over-produced. It's so unfortunate it happens a lot. That's one of the reasons that their official music videos don't get as many views as the song itself deserves. Because many fans prefer live version in general and a song like this, is guaranteed to sound amazing live. So disappointed that live version isn't available because Japan is so strict about recording at venues. Me personally I absolutely love this song. I listen to all sorts of music and this song has the strong ethnic/middle-eastern vibe, especially in vocal melody and the way Saiki sings. And the mini-breakdown after the first chorus has either Koto or Sitar, which is so tasty and unique. As you've mentioned, Miku's guitar is more prominent in this song than usual and sound heavier, too. Kanami's solo has the usual scales, but in this song there's the perfect balance of feel, groove and chaos. Misa and Akane ..... goes without saying. Amazing as usual.

This piece is an extro piece for Grendizer U anime, the music they write for anime openings and extros tend to have this production quality, super dense and squashed. If you listen to their music that isn't associated with anime, it tends to be roomier sounding.

You are so right! Compression is one of the reasons B-M sounds better live.

This song was written to be used in an action anime film. The fast pace is standard for those type films. These use of "Oh la, la, la, la" by Saiki, the vocalist is probably because this anime is popular in France.

However it's not the first time Japanese artist using ohh lala. There's the singer from the early 70s using the phrase in the intro to the song "nerai-uchi" in the same set of notes. That song came up on my mind as soon as the song started. But man, this song is packed with ideas. So much middle-eastern vibe in this song. Other than ooh lala, obviously, there are so many things I hadn't heard from Band-Maid before. I'm not a big fan of anime song and this is written for an anime and I'm absolutely loving the song.

Dr Rock would like Domination and Freedom Live, Todd Bobby loves Dice, Blooming and Warning (not the band).

Pay no attention to the language, just listen closely to the vocal melodies and sweet harmonies of SAIKI and KOBATO. For something with more technical compositions and solos, try WARNING (OMV) and SENSE (OMV). You’re right. Most of their recordings are overly compressed, and the high end can be shrill/harsh. That’s one reason the live recordings are so enjoyable, as the mixes breathe more.

The over compressed sound of their studio tracks is a sore point of some fans. Especially in light of how much better their live concert videos are. Certainly a management decision.
