I’ve had to order a few new plugs I’ve done the same thing wouldn’t run correctly messed about with the needles too😢. Thought I’d blown it but luckily the piston is still moving nicely. I will try this thanks mate.

Don't mess with the factory settings lol 😆 each engine is tuned to it's working ability lol it's why we don't touch them , you want more speed just buy the parts

Thank you for this. I got a brand new LOSI 8ight yesterday... only unboxed it so far. I have to make a trip to the hobby store to get a glow plug ignitor and some nitro etc... It's my first nitro so I've been watching a ton of videos about proper startup, break-in etc... this one is probably the most helpful so far...because it didn't just fire correctly straight out of the box. I've subscribed now, and wanted to say thank you for your time making videos like this! None of us are as smart as all of us. :)

@@HaggardRC going to Des Moines IA later tonight to hopefully pick up everything I need to start it. Nobody has an engine warmer in stock at the local (1 hour away) hobby stores... so I picked up a heat gun. Going to get: fuel, fuel bottle, glow ignitor, extra glow plug(s), tuning screwdriver, after run oil. Anything I'm overlooking to get it started and break it in properly?

@@HaggardRC break in is completed. Apparently these are set very rich from the factory. Losi talks about tuning the high needle first... in one hour increments. I've adjusted it 18 hours so far. Still nice white smoke... sounding MUCH better toward the end of the last tank I rank thru today. Great acceleration, no blubbering up thru the full RPM range... If I drove my Slash like I drove this today... I'd have been rolling it all day, even with the LCG. Unreal how hard this buggy is planted. Should you put in after run oil after EVERY run? Is 3 days too long to sit between runs? Plan on running it Sunday and Tuesday at two different tracks. Thing starts on first or second pull... assuming I remember to pay attention to the throttle trim position, and not flood it.

I asked about the ftx carnage as mine was acting funny.... I told you it was revving to high then I lifted it off the ground and wheels sped up then with the vibration the exauste screws backed out and I lost the gasket.... It all got fixed and re-tuned to factory settings by my lhs and now runs a little high but I wasn't sure what screw to turn but now thanks to you I now know. However I found an idle screw!! 😂 😂 Malcolm called me in the USA and said he wanted his truck back now you somehow got it running!! 😂 😂 Nice score HaG!! You gotta be the luckiest HaG I know!! 😂

Ive got the FTX Zorro, £195 with the same engine it fought me tooth and nail, it also wouldnt prime easily, kept stalling after gentle revs, so I richenened it up a little and primed the carb through the air filter it fired up and ran a full tank through, the second tank it would keep stalling after I applied any throttle, so I ran it at idle for three tanks before it settled down. I think these engines are very tight when new, mine sounded like a bag of bolts pulling the pullstart but when you pull the plug out it sounded fine on the pull start. They love a bit of heat by the way.Those glow plug spanners that dont have the grips to grip the plug I put a strip of insulation tape inside and then they grip the plugs.

3 In 1 oil is good for after run. And any engine oil will be fine for your filter.

I have the new savage XL and I have run it in and it needs tuning. For the last couple of runs the Glow plug has failed each time. Would a lean or rich mixture cause this?

Can be either, lean is more likely to kill them because they melt.

Reminds me of a Traxxas 3.3 runs and start great after warmed up but thank God for electric start when cold takes forever pull your arm off with pull start have broke a pull start.

You need to make sure the carb is fully open when you prime the fuel through. You need some throttle to start it. They don't get easy that this to start, usually start first or second pull from brand new. Make sure to not open the tank lid too far otherwise you will bend the tank spring and it won't seal. They were never £120 😂. Nitro cars were always near to the £200 mark, the engine it used to come with the SH is knowhere near as good as the FORCE engine it now comes with. It will also run better on 20% nitro. You make Kev Talbot look good with nitro cars 😂. These engines aren't very tight even from new
