As an enormous Joni fan, I thought no one would have the courage to sing this, but she does a masterful job. I am sure Joni loved it. This actually brought me to Brandi's work, and now I'm Her fan as well. 💖

I wish this had been recorded properly and released on DVD. I was there for this ahow at Disney Hall and Brandi Carlile sang/covered Joni Mitchell's entire Blue album. Brandi remained very true, of course, to the original album and it was a jaw dropping, moving and soul shaking performance. Brandi is so talented, I've loved her since the release of Give Up the Ghost, and she just nailed every song here. Obviously Joni is a huge inspiration for Brandi and you can definitely hear it in her music. But the Blue album, for those who haven't listened to it, is quite complicated to sing, yet Brandi pulled it off and without a teleprompter, which I hadn't realize at the time. So again, I wish this one was available on DVD or stream 😊.

Nobody can come close to singing Joni like Joni. Brandi is a great singer but she sings Joni's songs out of love and respect. Technically, she can't do what Joni can but she's soulful and the lyrics have meaning. I feel her love for Joni and her music every time I hear her do one of Joni's songs.

I've loved Brandi since The Story so I came here with high hopes. Alas, this ain't it. The takeaway for me is she should not sing Joni's songs. The technical difficulty is simply too high. You butcher the songs or they butcher you.
