My immediate thoughts are: does Annie have a portrait of herself, aging in an attic somewhere? The woman does not age, and her voice is still strong and subtle. Second: there are a lot of parallels between Joni and Annie. Both strong, amazing pioneers and feminist icons with a unique sound and approach to their artistry. Considering that Joni almost “bought the farm” not so long ago, due to illness, it is Gobsmaking that she appeared on the Grammy’s in 2024. Another Canadian OG🇨🇦💖

It’s so touching and she paints a whole picture of emotions in this song with her voice and attitude. I can’t recall who said this, but this song really lets the singer put in the emotions of whatever age there in. It has been a pleasure to hear it from 25 year old Joni and her version when she was 80 - and now of Annie. How sublime.

I dedicate this incredible version of the Joanie Mitchell classic to my once eternal, now Celestial ange; my lovely 92 year old mother, who passed away on February 19th after suffering a fatal massive stroke.
