I sing this song to the babies in the ICU when they wake up in the middle of the night. It makes me choke up every time, and my own “babies” are in their 20’s. This song speaks to what every mother feels.

As a mother of a baby who spent over 284 days of her first year in NICU and PICU... THANK YOU. 🧡 It was rare that I was not there for her, but everyone who cared for my baby extended the reach of my own soul. I appreciate you.

Too bad the woman singing the song believes it's okay to kill a child in the womb. For any reason. Including defects. Many grown adults are living great lives even though their parents said they should abort. Many famous people doing really well were saved by a mother who chose not to kill their child in the womb.

My youngest is 6 now, but her first two weeks were hell of non-stop breastfeeding, holding, and literally never sleeping more than 30 minutes in a row. Thankfully, her pediatrician helped and it got better. I was delirious but in love. And had an army of helpers to hold that precious girl who never slept unless she was held so I could recover.

Love love love. The part that got me was the "simple" act of letting the little kiddos press the elevator button and knock on the door. It's the tiny things in the day the take us parents a few extra moments (and patience!) and give us our children the incredible opportunities to grow their self confidence and agency. (Love my spunky, strong 3 year old!)

God this is so beautiful. Anyone who gets choked up with love when they simply watch mothers reacting to their children will love this as much as I do, I'm sure. There's so much love between them it's almost overwhelming to witness, even for me, as an observer. I miss my darling mum so much. She passed away back in 1992 and I still feel her love, even though I'm 67 years old now. God bless her and all mothers of the world. Someone told me once, that nobody, NOBODY in your life will ever love you like your mother, and I believe that's true.

In all my years in newborn care and the NICU I was continually impressed with the desire, the effort of both mothers and fathers to be the best parents they could be. Not all knew what a good parent looked like, or had the resources internally to carry out their desire nor the ability to overcome the obstacles in their life, but every single one wanted to be the best they could be. It is who we are as humans, mammals, living creatures.
