So, Nick's is releasing a line of high-end boots that are going to compete with Viberg and other premium bootmakers. I hope they succeed. I have two pairs of Nick's boots and they are excellent. I'm sure Brandle boots will be even better. Best of luck, guys!
@cheekibreeki915511 ай бұрын
Oh man, the profile of the Brandle does look different from other boots I have seen so far. The pictures on the Brandle site doesn't do it justice of how good it looks in the video. However at $1200 to $2000 range, this boot would only be realistic for someone average like me to buy if I had "fuck you" money. Until then, it's going to be a "fuck me" purchase.

I was excited to see this new venture and wish the company well. Honestly, I was a bit shocked when I saw the price on the website -- and that's not for the upscale leather options they might offer. Looking forward to seeing some reviews by early adopters on KZbin. Will be interesting to hear about lead times for these, too.

The detailing on these is definitely a step above almost anything else I’ve seen, absolutely stunning. If they offered these in dainite or mini lug (leather just isn’t practical for me) minus the brass heel plate to reduce cost at around the $700 range I’d pull the trigger without hesitation. I just paid $550 for some White’s and $500 for some Truman’s, but I don’t think I’m ready to step up to $1k + - my wife would lose her mind.

I like everything about it but that narrow vertical piece on the backstay. All a mater of taste of course. I am excited for the Nick's crew to be challenging themselves with this new line.

Totally get where this sentiment is coming from but it’s worth remembering these are going to be incredibly low production so they won’t have THAT big of an impact -I’d bet 5 times more people order Nicks Boots each day than Brandle will max out making in a month.

Beautiful boots but out of my budget. I get that they’re trying to compete with the Japanese boots but the last isn’t on par with the Japanese lasts. They’re still beautiful boots but I’d personally pay 700-800 at most. I also think from a marketing perspective, them using the Nicks name to generate awareness was fine short term but in the long run, I don’t see it as a good thing.
@stitchdown11 ай бұрын
Interesting last thought here-would love to hear more? It’s really tough to launch a boot brand from scratch! And of course people would demand to know who is making it and their credentials, especially at this price point. So it’s kinda tricky even if they did want to keep them as more “separate” brands, yknow?

Not saying anyone is wrong, but I'm surprised by how many negative comments there are. I was thinking this boot would have been more of a hit with this crowd.

I’m really excited for this line but I see nothing dressy about this last and pattern. Dressy boots to me would be balmoral boots or wing tip brogue boots. These are just service boots with better finishing than Nick’s boots. The last seems sleek but I genuinely don’t like the two piece heel counter. I prefer 1 piece heel counters, especially for a starting price tag of $1000. All I can say, I’d rather get Vibergs or Alden’s for this price point.

Absolutely agreed. I was really surprised to see that they didn't use closed lacing if they wanted a dress boot that's really different from what Nicks offers.

So. You basically are saying the level of attention for a $500-$700 boot isn’t there. You didn’t sell me, in fact you turned me off 😢. I just received a pair of nicks and it looked like you slapped it together. No insignia on any of my 4 pairs, even after I requested it. Boooo

I was so freakin excited for this launch but man was it handled poorly. Being a huge fan of Nicks I was willing to pay the asking price for these, but I admit I think they will have trouble moving them overall at the current pricing.

They look like garbage, I'd rather spend $800 on Viberg's which are beautiful than ever buy a $1200 brandle that looks like it was designed by someone who had only ever heard of what a dress boot looks like but had never seen one.
@TheKn3111 ай бұрын
No disrespect to nicks, but this boot “jumps the shark” in my opinion. there’s no point to this design other than for nicks to charge boot nerds a lot of money; no one else will buy it. The brass plate in the back is just a cringey gimmick.

1.) nicks has people that want to put in the extra time and extra effort to make the best looking and best made boots 2.) the boots are made at such a high quality and are made with a different last so it not just for nicks nerds if anything is not for the average nick buyer at all 3.) if you think it’s a lot of money then the boots aren’t for you. There are plenty of other brands that people buy crazy expensive garbage from. 4.) the brass plate is badass and if you could get it from somewhere else you would and so would everyone else. You’re just mad you didn’t think of it first
@TheKn3111 ай бұрын
@@junkman226 I totally agree. Look, we all know that most of the people buying Nicks, Whites, Vibergs, etc these days are not loggers, firefighters, or other people who need these boots for work. Most of these heritage PNW bootmakers have expanded in recent years primarily through their "fashion" lines -- I'd wager that many Viberg consumers for example don't know them as anything other than a fashion brand -- and I'm fine with that. But if Nicks wants to play the fashion game by making a pure fashion boot that is 50% more expensive than its peers, and containing useless gimmickry, I'd say that they're going about it the wrong way. Fashion is trend-driven and therefore fickle. Expensive fashion lives at the cutting edge of fickle. As I say, I mean no disrespect to NIcks, and I acknowledge they make good boots, but I'll eat my words if this new Nicks line survives.
@ericfallabel920111 ай бұрын
@@TheKn31Every day that passes leaves me more baffled by Brandle. I'm not sure if this is an attempt at a viral marketing campaign, a "scarcity marketing" soft launch, or it's just half-baked overall. They spent months briefly mentioning their "higher end boot line", showed up at Boot Camp with samples but without a website or more info. Schuyler didn't even say the actual price of the boots in this video, instead underestimating and saying "about $1000" for boots that start at 1200. Now, despite themselves having multiple successful KZbin channels of their own, Nicks still hasn't posted an in depth video describing these new boots. They've clearly paid Stitchdown for advertising via this video and the ad on their recent podcast episode. Obviously advertising is fine, but given that a lot of Nicks' success in the heritage/fashion area was through their own KZbin channel and others like Rose Anvil, Carl Murasaki, and others, it's jarring to see this launch ignore in-depth discussion there.
