Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands and makers as well as the collectors!
In this channel, I will give information found in my research about the brand, the construction, and the materials, but I will express my personal opinions about how I feel about the boots reviewed.
Full Disclosure
If any video is sponsored (where I receive cash payment), I will declare it clearly in the video and in the description. Even if a video is sponsored, I will review the product openly and honestly giving you my personal opinion, warts and all, of the product. I will refuse any sponsorship deals where I am fettered in what I have to say.
I may be given products to review, which is different from receiving cash payment for reviewing an item. In these cases, I insist that the provider of the goods has no rights to what I say and may not review the video before I publish it. Again, my opinion will be honest and my own.
Some of the links I placed above are affiliate links. Buying from an affiliate link will not cost you any more, but I may receive a small payment from the platform of up to 6%.

Hey Teik. You talk up Parkhurst so much that I finally decided to buy some. I gotta say, you are correct on all fronts. Their 602 last is very comfortable and looks great. Quality is high. Andrew was very communicative during the shipping process. I even let him know that you sent me, and he had nothing but nice things to say about you. This is a brand that I may have overlooked if it were not for your insistence that they deserve to be known, and now they might be my new favorites. Thanks for putting out informative and approachable boot videos and helping us all know which brands to keep an eye on!

I wear my V2's in Italian Brown Cypress about once a week. One of my more comfortable pairs of boots despite the tank-like construction. Nicks just opened up pre-orders for the V3's today with quite a few new options for customization. Tempted but I'm resisting for now. Like you said, these will last forever with casual wear and I'm still waiting on the preorders for the Parkhurst wingtip boots to come in in a month or two.

I ordered a pair of these in tan roughout since i already own a pair of travellers in dark brown english bridle veg tan. Your's are gorgeous. I'm hoping the parkhurst 602 last is more to my liking. The travellers feel slightly too big, especially at the heel.

Starting to thin out the collection is the first step on the way to recovery 🙂. I slowed down my boot buying dramatically since last year and started giving them away to charity or selling a few pairs. I found that I was only wearing each pair of my boots a few times per year and also that I was permanently breaking in new boots instead of enjoying the ones already broken in. And I also wanted to wear my many nice leather sneakers and some of my remaining dressier shoes some of the time, in summer at least. It was (excuse the pun) like a treadmill. So the numbers are falling and every month or two I go through them and say farewell to a couple of pairs (or more) of footwear though it gets harder as I have mostly got rid of the ones I liked the least. I'm hoping that in a few years time I'll have nothing but a much reduced collection of well broken in favourite boots and shoes that will have "become mine" and maybe I'll even need a few re-soles eventually like I used to back in the days when I was sensible about footwear. I'll still have far more than I should but I'm now watching channels like yours and don't feel any real urge to add boots anymore.

I live near a charity collection point and when I took some of my boots to them, they advised against it! Apparently in Australia we have a less educated footwear market and heritage boots (except R M Williams) are unpopular because of their style and weight! So what I’ll probably do is sell them and give the net profits to my favourite charity (Cancer).

@@Bootlosophy Yes, I think the same does happen to some extent in the UK. I make a point of mentioning that they're X amount boots or shoes so please don't sell cheaply. I also deliver to a variety of charity shops at multiple locations so they don't immediately identify me as "that crazy footwear person". The charity shops are huge money making machines in the UK and in many cases I believe the goods handed in go for processing and assessment in central locations and higher value items get assessed by people who know what they're doing. Being a UK size 12 I think makes that more likely and less likely that a volunteer or employee will decide that selling nice footwear on their own ebay account would be a good reward for their hard work which is another concern. Personally, I'm not that concerned if they sell cheaply because if somebody is searching charity shops and picks up a quality pair of boots at a good price, though the charity will have lost out, it means that the boots will hopefully be well used and loved by someone else who might not otherwise be able to afford them such as a student. And may well start another person on a good footwear path. The alternative is to sell yourself but that comes with its own hassles. It may be easier if you have mainstream sizes and boots that are a bit exotic and difficult to purchase locally like much of your American stuff . I have used a UK service called Marrkt a couple of times who sell on your behalf. They take 40% of the sale price but as they are a proper business with return policies and a fixed initial price, their sales can command higher prices than a lone ebayer with little history. They can sell the right brands quite quickly and gradually reduce the price at fixed intervals over time for unsold goods, If you bought the boots at a good sale discount and they're the right brand for their audience it is possible to get the majority of your money back.

Having owned over 50 pairs of boots a few months ago, I've culled my collection recently on eBay and Vinted, there's only so many a man can wear, i find myself wearing my Trickers Stow Malton and Henry and my favourite pair, C and J rough out suede Coniston boots more than the others. Those are nice looking boots, but horrendously expensive in UK more than C and J and Trickers

There are a lot of good boots out there. I believe find the last that is the most efficient fit for your foot. Meaning you can minimize the size and keep all the comfort. I found what works for me, after about 20 different lasts. I will probably be dead before they are.

@@Bootlosophy I'm over 6 decades old. In my youth I liked tight shoes for agility. So my slightly wide feet have been pushed together a bit. So the 2030, and RMW round toe suits well. Also if I'm doing more standing around than walking the 55 last is really nice in my Roberts. Others work but think above are my faves.

I just got my first 2 pairs from Parkhurst last week. 1 of them was a B grade Allen service boot, the other is a "sample" Bidwell 2.0, which is a plain toe shoe. For the B grade, I would say it is a little more scuffed than I expected and the sanding around the toe is a little closer than I would like. Overall, still happy with it and these are the type of things only us boot nerds care about - I have gotten a lot of compliments on these boots. In comparison to some Grant Stone B grades I have purchased, these Parkhurst are a bit more on the B level. Overall, great construction and build quality, other than the stuff that makes them B grade. These are on the 602 last, which are really comfortable. Comparable to the GS Leo last, but with a touch more width through the forefoot. For the Bidwells, I am still trying to figure out what a "sample" is, as these appear to be an A grade, unworn pair - I suspect maybe they are a prototype or something. These shoes look phenomenal, definitely seem to be on a similar level of quality to Grant Stone. These are on the 602M last, which I believe is a slightly lower volume, but very similar. I don't own any Allen Edmonds, so I can't compare to those. If you are familiar with Grant Stone, then you know their QC is second to none unless you are comparing to very expensive makers. After only having worn them for about a week, I would put my initial impressions of the Parkhursts on similar footing to Grant Stone, with a slightly more comfortable last (at least for my feet).

Wait, let me ask you something. You said you have over 100 pairs of boots, some of them you wear more, some less. You claim that you did wear those for more or less 1000km for a year, which is almost 3km per day, so around 4k steps per day. That's an average milage of person working in the office already, maybe a little bit less. I understand you walk a lot on your trips, but considering how many boots you use and review - this seems alsmot unbelivable. I mean, 1000km seems actually crazy much considering you have to split you time between your job, YT, family, sleep and especially other boots to wear. I'm not saying you are wrong in your estimation, its just you either spend most of your life on walking (which is commendable) or you actually like those boots very much... or both ;) Cheers from Poland!
