@codywirth81904 жыл бұрын
Zane is beloved in DK because yes he's great, but he gets the funnest role. I think Sadler is the real gem here, dude is just haggard from start to finish with the weight of the key eating away at him. If you ever come home from a long day of work, ready to give it all up, flick this on and Sadler's performance will resonate.

The seal break was because of the explosion. When he first sealed the mine entrance it had a oppening in a specific shape. When they killed the demon it blew apart that opening and reshaping it, therefore breaking the seal.
@codywirth81904 жыл бұрын
But there is a lot of inconsistency with the blood seal. If it only conforms to the entrance, then why don't the demons just punch through the wall and go around the seals? And if a demon's death can break the seal, then why tf wouldn't the collector just intentionally kill one in front of an entrance? Or hell, just light a fire to the building itself. "I know, who makes up all these rules?"

Man, I dug the hell out of this movie! Caught in on late night TV a couple of years ago. Never judge a book by it's cover... or a movie by it's title. I thought it would suck and only watched it for a laugh. Turns out it was a well made horror comedy. Wonders never cease! I was never a big Billy "put a cork in it" Zane fan, but he absolutely owned his role in this one. An under rated gem. Thanks for highlighting it. Hopefully it'll make others check it out.

You missed mentioning that one of the cops is Gary Farmer, another character actor. He was great in the role of "Nobody" in the Jim Jarmusch film Dead Man starring Johhny Depp. I used to think his early line in this film "We didn't see anybody" which would essentially translate as "We saw nobody," was a reference to the former. But it looks like they were released in the same year. CCH Pounder calls the female cat, her character knows is named Cleo, "him" and Pinket says "her" about a second later. How did they not reshoot that?

Oh by the way, awesome review! I agree, this movie is totally underrated. And sadly it doesn't get the attention it deserves. This year is the 20th anniversary of Demon Knight. And believe me, I've known this movie for the past 20 years. I saw it when I was 12 when my brother showed it to me, and I loved it. Too bad there was never a sequel to this film other than the follow up 1996 film Bordello of Blood, which is not a true sequel, but was the second and last film that Tales from the Crypt made. But I didn't like it as much as I liked Demon Knight. For me, Demon Knight is a timeless classic. It may be underrated as hell, and it may have a few problems here and there, but none of these problems prevented it from being a classic.
