I read the paperback book of this as a kid, which made me want to see the movie. Was thinking about it recently actually, so glad to see a review of it.

Some of the effects make me think of the 40K universe with a tech priest on Mars who replaced their organs with machine parts.

This moive is quite entertaining, use to have the VHS till i got rid of it (mainly because the movie was so worn out and couldnt work right), but i still like it, has that unnerving touch that an alian spieces takes over the machines and uses people for body parts. Also, just became a patreon follower finally!

I agree that Virus isn't one of the worst horror flicks ever, however when I first saw it on VHS I was disappointed by it. The setting with the huge ship is actually pretty cool and atmospheric, was expecting a better movie to match that. Oh well, at least it has entertainment value.

How appropriate to to close out 2020, the year that gave us the coronavirus, with a movie called "Virus". I don't think I've ever watched this movie all the way through, nor did I read the "Dark Horse" comics this movie is supposedly based on. But seeing the effects alone does make me want to check it out sometime. Hope you have a Happy New Year Brandon.

I really enjoyed Virus. The plot is kind of dumb, but the special effects are pretty damn good. It is like a more modern day b-flick and I love that.

This was one of the first movies I remember watching, it was really scary the idea of a ghost shop becoming infested with aliens

I have vivid memories of this being on an AMC show about special effects. They had a few episodes, maybe a season's worth, and every single one was for a different movie. And every single one was a meh movie, like this, Wild Wild West, Terminator 3...But I do recall the shot you showed of the robot cutting its way out of the corpse and being a snake-spider thing around a skull.

This seems like they discovered an SCP by mistake. Like an origin story for how one got found by the foundation. SCP 84787 A ship stuck adrift in the ocean. It is discovered the ship's controlled by what can only be considered a rogue AI. The AI has used many of the ship's onboard machinery to construct multiple mechanised automatons that seem to be under its direct control. In addition to this, many automatons appear to be built from a combination of mechanical parts salvaged from onboard the ship and biological matter, most likely salvaged from the corpses of the previous crew and other people who managed to board the ship post the takeover by the AI. The AI is extremely hostile and will attack any biological lifeform it encounters onboard the ship via use of the automatons, often mutilating them until death. It will then surgically reconstruct their bodies with cybernetic implants, effectively rebuilding them as new automatons. That was rather long winded but tell me you couldn't see that as an SCP and be intrigued.
