What is Micro Posing? Helping you understand Posing more!
Today we go more behind the scenes on how Brandon poses his models and how to get another look from your model just by adjusting the model slightly in any direction. This is known as micro posing or micro adjustments. A skill everyone should learn and apply. It's important how one small adjustment to your pose can have such an amazing impact on the shot!

Brandon, old photographer here in buffalo NY, learned on film. I like how your main is feathered to produce "illumination" as opposed to just light. Without the feathering skin shine comes into play and the light doesn't blend in. Great posing and technique!

Curious. Why don't you use a grip on the camera to keep from having to twist your hand awkwardly to activate the shutter? Camera grips put your hand in a more natural state on the camera when held vertically.
@BrandonColePhotography
@BrandonColePhotography 4 жыл бұрын
They make the camera bigger and bulkier which is not the reason most people went mirrorless in the first place. Me personally i cant stand grips. I like the form factor of the camera

Hi, I really enjoy you're videos, its very interesting , just I have a question.. Why use a iso 50? I mean for me its better use a iso 100 and adjust the speed shooter to 150 or 200, is the same light, and more sharp, ist just a question thx

Love this . I tend to do this in my shoot. At first i was like do i really wanna spend the extra 5-10 mins posing my models but i believe it’s definitely worth it if you want the shot . I also like my photos to have character as i call it so instead of standing straight up , move an elbow or foot to add texture . Would you mind doing a video on how you choose which soft box equipment and lens you bring to a shoot ? I’m looking at few soft boxes with some HSS strobes and I would like to narrow down a few that I can use in most situations .

Great work, but it felt a bit contrived and not super fluid? Maybe what you are trying to coin as "micro posing" should be done by the model and you just give her a general guideline, hints and feedbacks since she can't see herself? It felt micro managed all over!
@BrandonColePhotography
@BrandonColePhotography 4 жыл бұрын
Posing is micro managing. My models really never posed themselves. I am the creative director. They cannot see what you see. It's my job as the photographer to "manage" them, pose them and get the shot i need.
@Watchingmen
@Watchingmen 4 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonColePhotography well, I am just starting. I mostly work with amateur models so I have to give them hints and study posing myself. I try to get them out of their headspace to expand into their comfort zone with some fluidity and spontaneous movements. I shoot only natural light though. My approach is try not to get on the way of their creative process, hoping we both get in the zone on the same page. You obviously have more experience then me, so you know your thing. Thank you so much for taking your time to answer! Loved your amazing soldier in the woods set!

Cool Video, by what got my attention, you always use ISO 50 in every Video, why that? ISO 50 on Sony make no sense, 'cause not native ISO you loose DR and ISO 50 has no benefits to 100.
