A lot of scholars believe the book of Revelation was written before AD70 and fits perfectly with Matthew 24 and Josephus', "The Jewish wars". Look into it. It's fascinating. Revelation even tells you itself what it's about and when it will take place. Read it and pay attention to the time indicator words such as "soon' and "shortly". Also read it with audience relevance in mind. It was written to the 7 churches that existed at that very moment and was warning them of things to come and how to avoid it. Don't take my word for it, just read it in context. Blessing

Pastor Brandon - even in the Book of Daniel, he has a very prophetic dream, about things to happen "in the distant future". To read this and Revelations seems to be a a true look at the end of times.
@Jsmith0819 Жыл бұрын
While I'm very open to various interpretations of Revelation, I have to look at the world and see that unlike any previous time in history it seems to be lining up exactly to unfold exactly as those who view it has future events have laid out in their interpretation. Maybe that is coincidence, but unlike all the times throughout history where people have shouted "this is it" just because things were bad, while making so many things metaphorical to justify why it doesn't seem to match, things seem to be ready to fall into place exactly as they've interpreted. Considering all of the other areas of the bible that speak of the time they were written in, but also the future, I can't just throw away any of the potential interpretations. It would feel like trying to place God in a box that I want him in, whether that be that he was only talking about back then, or that he was only talking about the far future, or that he was talking about both. I feel all three of those are possible, and I will only know when the time comes to see in full.
@Jsmith0819 Жыл бұрын
@@jeanjaz the birth pangs reference absolutely makes sense. I've always figured that the spiritual forces that oppose God have no more knowledge of the time line of events than we do, so they just keep inspiring humans towards the same evils over and over. So you're going to see these themes recur throughout human history, and partial fulfillment will be common. However, as the end grows near and God gives us over to our desires those forces will become more and more successful, drawing the cycle closer and closer, but only God can decide when our sin has reached fullness as he did with Caanan. I see some good arguments on the side of most of it being already fullfiled, and the text just being about that time, but I don't personally see it all as fitting into that interpretation. However, I also don't know everything that happened in 70ad. Either way I won't take a solid stand as to which is true, even though my strongest inclination is the "it was talking about 70ad, but also a future event that would see many of the same things play out again.

Excellent and VERY IMPORTANT teaching! Our church covered Revelation pretty much like you did, especially because in Germany, certain End-Times Theories have become so popular that people actually don't know what it means. The interpret some parts literally, whereas others they decide to interpret figuratively. Skye Jethani has also be an outspoken opponent of this mix-and-match theology. My hope is that Christians, as you rightly point out, take heart through this book and know that God (and goodness) is bigger than evil and has become victorious through Jesus Christ. It's a book that tells us: "Do not fear..." (Revelation 2:10) So thanks for putting this out there!!!

Thank you. At least the presenter should allow for this possibility, because he doesn’t know, nor do I. I’m inclined to believe John was taken up into heaven and did what he was told to do: write down what you see and hear. Bottom line as followers of Jesus is to trust in His work on behalf of the Father, and listen for the Spirit to move us. Jesus is Lord. The presenter can believe he is right, but only God is right. You have finally understood that this life is a pilgrimage and you need to focus on the eternal purpose of GOD in CHRIST for you. The things we learn in this life are about life (being a son to GOD) and ministry (being a servant to GOD). It is written, 'Thou shall worship the LORD thy GOD, and HIM only shall thou serve.'
If I remember correctly, the story of Nineveh would seem to explain the concept of prophesy. They were warned that if the kept doing bad, then bad thing would happen. They stopped doing bad. Bad thing didn't happen. They eventually went back to doing bad. Bad thing finally happened. Prophesy would seem to predict consequences to choices, not a predetermined future.

@Xerxes2005 Жыл бұрын
He didn't say it isn't about the end of times, he said it is not only about that. The only chapters that are actually about the end of times is when Jesus returns and establishes His kingdom. John wrote his Revelations mainly for the people who were struggling at his time. Of course, like Brandon said, we also struggle and that book can also give us hope. I mean take the Four Horsemen. Conquest (or Pestilence), War, Famine and Death always came hand in hand. That's nothing new. One can cause the other. You have an epidemic, which means less people are producing food, so there's a famine, nations go to war to secure the resources they can and there's a lot of death. Or, there's a war, with sieges of cities, which means famine and dysentery and death. And so on. John is basically saying: Yes, there's shit going on and shit will keep going on, but don't give up, hold fast, because Our Lord is winning for us! Amen! Come Lord Jesus!

Since my 2 churches do teach about Bible Study techniques and basics, I’m wondering how many biblical-teaching assemblies do not teach these? Context and Perspective etc all the way through. “There will be wars and rumors or rumblings of wars, before the end of Ages comes”.

Not sure I got anything out of this except that they understood the symbols. How does it apply to us today though?

Revelation specifically says to read the book aloud to a group of people...he gives this command in Revelation.

That's the way all of the Letters of The Bible were. Only one copy and one person would read in front of the people and then they would discuss. Paper was VERY scarce. Brandon explains this concept in one of his videos. God bless you, my friend💗🙏💗

I know some may think this is silly. But Everytime I fall away from god for like a month and stop praying or reading my Bible daily, I fall apart. And these videos stop showing up in my KZbin feed because I’m watching useless stuff. And then I pray to god to help my get back. And boom, your videos pop up Brandon. Thank you. I really believe god is using you to help spread unbiased information about the faith. Thank you.

This is a great explanation of the book of Revelations. I have never thought of it like this. Would you say then that the mark of the beast was something the Jews were dealing with at the time John wrote the book, based around the Roman Empire? Trying to understand the Bible the way God wants us can be confusing for me. I Often hear people take things literally when there is a different meaning, or at least one that needs to be taken in context. I'm enjoying your videos, please keep them coming!

Is there going to be an eternal battle of good and evil? At the highest level evil holds no power.

The Word Apocalypse Means: "The word apocalypse means revelation (Opening Up). That which is uncovered. It comes from the Greek word which literally means to pull the lid off something. So that which is revealed is central to the way that apocalyptic literature works. ..." Not Destruction!!!!!! The name of the Book actually conveys the true meaning of the Book. Rev 1:1 says: "This is the revelation of Jesus Christ" not of the END TIMES

Thank you pastor for giving common sense tutorial on Revelation, rather than giving us Armeggedon, Isreal, USA, nuclear war, etc of which I was formerly steeped in .

Great lesson Brandon, that made alot of since!! I've always liked history, especially American history, but it's clear that knowing Biblecal history is very important. Keep up the good work Brandon and God bless you and your family 👪.
