It's helpful. I am reading the bible for the first time and letters have been kind of confusing out of context. Paul's letters were awesome (the first half of Romans definitely beat me down to my knees) but I enjoyed moving on to James, Peter, John, and Jude. Well, I will be starting Revelation next... buckle up...

Thanks Brandon, for this quick trip through the NT. I'm so grateful for these 'books'. Especially Matthew and John, and Romans. Oh and of course Revelation. They're food for our souls. 😊

This is fantastic. I really appreciated both your summaries and how you tied the New Testament into the Old Testament at your conclusion. In essence, Genesis is paradise lost and Revelation is paradise regained. What a great perspective to book ending the Bible. Thank you.

I appreciate your overview of the NT books - thank you! I have a question about your comment on the book of Philemon, however. I may have misunderstood what you said, but it sounded like you said the letter was written to a runaway slave, encouraging him to return to his master now that his master has become a believer. This prompted me to re-read Philemon, and it sounds to me like Paul wrote the letter not to the runaway slave, but to Philemon, the slave’s former owner, about his runaway slave, Onesimus. It sounds like Philemon-the owner-was already Paul’s “dear friend and fellow worker,” (v.1) and Paul thanks God for Philemon’s “faith in the Lord Jesus” (v.5) and “partnership with us in the faith” (v.6). It is the slave Onesimus who “became [Paul’s] son” (v.10) and is now returning to Philemon “as a dear brother” (v.16). I’ve always liked this book - it’s “short and sweet,” and so personal. I try to imagine the reaction of Philemon when his slave unexpectedly shows up….and then Philemon’s response after reading Paul’s letter. Wow! Again, thanks for your overview!

Does this mean he returns as his slave or he's no longer a slave? Does the Bible state anywhere its approval of slavery? I don't understand the Bible when i try to read it &it's easier to go on channels like this one as it helps me understand it better.

Hey Brandon, do you have a video up that goes over the post tribulation period where Christ reigns for 1,000 years? I'm wondering what your thoughts are on if those who have passed away will reign with him and if his 1,000 year reign coincides with human life that is continuing on here on Earth.

It has been debated heavily about who wrote Hebrews. It does not sound like Paul's other writings so it is doubted by scholars and others who have spent their life researching the Bible. But great video and information on the other books.

You have Philemon backwards. The letter is written to the slave master, concerning the slave Onesimus. Especially interesting since there's later a Bishop Onesimus who was on a committee about collecting letters, helping to account for why this one was included. It apparently worked to influence Philemon to free Onesimus, or at least treat him well even though he had escaped. By far the best commentary I've seen on this is "A Week in the Life of a Slave," part of the "A Week in the Life of . . . " series. It gives true historical background in the form of a historical novel about how the letter got to be written.

If anyone wants my advice on which chapters to read, read all of them. From Genesis to Revelations. And don't worry if you don't understand it at first read it again and again and again! It means more the more you read it. That is what's really amazing! The only other advice I would have is to start Young! 🙏 🕊️

Hello Brandon, I have a question: Is Paul considered a false apostle? The reason I ask this is because he dates sets the second coming of the Lord and is wrong and he also says "women shouldn't rule over men" even though there are tons of women rulers in the Bible. Paul seems to contradict a lot of what Jesus teaches.

You also skip the 7 letters to the 7 churches. Those letters are so important. {He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.} We all need to read the letters and HEAR what is said to ALL the Churches because we are all making those mistakes even though we think we are Christians. Also, people think they belong to the Church in Philadelphia but it is more likely we are not.

CORRECTION ON THE LAST BOOK......The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John: IT IS NOT JOHN'S REVELATION. IT IS THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST, which GOD gave to Him. {All Bibles should be corrected to have the H's capitalized. It is clear in the first sentence that it is JESUS CHRIST'S REVELATION.}

Also, Revelation was NOT GIVEN TO JOHN BY JESUS. It says that Jesus sent His angel unto John. It is important to get this correct. People think the Revelation was given to John and even you say that. But it wasn't John's revelation.

Oh?? Interesting. Well I task you with this- Without looking it up- tell us which books. You can’t though can you? Because you’re just repeating stuff you’ve heard said before in the echo chamber of ignorance but never bothered to look into and understand. Or am I just making too many assumptions? And although true that indeed some books were left out, unless you know which books, when and why- your matter of fact’ish “informative” comment means and contributes nothing at all.

@@ryanlemons7831 don't be an @$$ ... The 14 “missing” books of the Bible contain some of the most important ancient Jewish writings-writings that give us an insight into the earliest days of scripture and deepen our understanding of the Bible’s role and purpose as God’s Word. The 14 missing books of the Bible are: Baruch, 1 Esdras, 2 Esdras, 1 Enoch, The Letter of Jeremiah, 3 Maccabees, 4 Maccabees, Psalm 151, Joseph and Aseneth, The Prayer of Manasseh, Wisdom of Solomon, The Wisdom of Sirach (or Ecclesiasticus), and Judith. Do your research or educate yourself. In fact, Enoch is (was) the 2nd book of the bible.

@@suebaxter301 Sue, As I reflect on what I said and especially how I said it; I would like to express that You are indeed justified in calling me out on being an @$$. What I wrote- but more specifically how I wrote it was unkind, uncalled for and full of accusations, judgments and contained far too many assumptions on my part. It wasn’t nice, gentle, kind and it wasn’t fair to you. Please accept the above as my apology for my behavior. I can say that indeed I have in the past researched the subject of the “missing”/“removed” books of the Bible however- I can not claim to have a deep understanding of it. I think the reason for this is how much conflicting information there is on the matter- for instance what was and wasn’t left out by who and why, the validity of these books and their authors. I can not claim to have a deep understanding of it. And for that I do again say I am sorry for how I responded to you. Personally though through the years of encounters with the information as it relates to this subject of the content of the Bible, my sources of information and such I have struggled to adhere to the idea that these books were removed with nefarious and or sinister intent. Although I do admit that I can understand why one might conclude that (not saying you’re saying it was nefarious and sinister) but I’m just trying to articulate that it’s a deep subject and one that requires more attention and study than I personally have applied to it if I am to be matter of fact ish and or accusatory. I should have approached you with a gentle curiosity rather than with demands and speculation and such. And so; that all said, for you and all reading this- I take full responsibility for my behavior and actions. Thanks for your response and I have no hard feelings. Oh and also- the book of Enoch is a fascinating one. I’m undecided on it but it is interesting. From what I think I understand about the book of Enoch- it was not included because it is a book for later times/later generations - it is arguble that “later time” is now actually. I am still undecided. But the book of Enoch has been a hot topic the last few years and one of interest.

Here's it in 1 minute: Gospels - written by god only knows who, contradict each other constantly. Acts - fan fiction Letters - by a guy who never knew Jesus even though he was a CONTEMPORARY who was in town with him three times a year. But only 7 of them. Revelation: God relies on untold violence to solve his humanity problem AGAIN. OR it's a scathing rag on Emperor Nero and not some picture of the world ending - which is the one more likely.
