Shalom Brandon! My wife and I gave our "yes" to Yeshua in a protestant church congregation several decades ago. Through my relationship with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Ruach HaKodesh has been gently drawing more of the truth of Hus word. Since November 2022, my wife and I have worshiped at a Messianic Jewish Synagogue in the north metro Atlanta GA area. The Hebrew language, context, and culture are keys 🔑 🔑🔑 in rightly dividing the word of truth and are powerful to help us appropriately interpret Scripture and correctly apply it to our life. Btw...John Kostik, Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries, and 119 Ministries have been valuable resources that have blessed in going deeper in Yeshua HaMashiach. May the LORD bless you and keep you! ❤️‍🔥

Studying the scriptures then, one would know that we don't know if Jesus said "kayim Torah" or "vatel" in Matthew 5:17 as it's written in Greek.

-@Jesus was announced as king of Israel in that choice between Jesus and Barabbas. Quickly said, Pilot dressed Jesus up as King, Pilot presented Jesus to the Sanhedrin and high priest among the crowd as "their King". Told the crowd to choose to crucify "their King" or Barabbas. The Saducees and High Priest chose "their king" Jesus to be crucified and instigated the Jewish crowd to choose "their King" to be crucified..... and so the Priesthood anointed Jesus as their king in order for him to be executed. And Pilat published this fact above Jesus head at a time when Jerusalem was most crowded of Jews from all over the realm. What this accomplished was to legalize according to Torah law Jesus' amended covenant and make irrelevant all burdensome Talmudic rules. I think Jesus and Pilat planned it together. Neet trick on the Sanhedrin huh.

I always worry when just about anyone comes and lectures Christians on our teachings. What Chrustians rely on is not teachings from pulpits but the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit takes us to the depths of what Christ really meant and so whether we know Hebrew and Greek or not, we increase in our understanding of the Scriptures. .

Poor in spirit also means having a teachable spirit. Be willing to receive instruction, not just from GOD, but from life, friends and mostly The Word. Proverbs says; Where strider crash, the fire goes out. So if you quit talking about people/situations, you'll be amazed at how much more peace you have. When you talk about evil, you are fueling the fire, adding coals to it. Heating up the battle. Quit it!

You’re referring to humility, which is a kind of emptiness ready to be filled. When someone is “full of themself,” there’s no room for learning to take hold. Evil is “full” - don’t be that way - but being quiet about evil actually helps evil. We should speak about evil, but we must do it with humility, selflessness, with God’s power - not our own. Not to show off - as the Pharisees did - but for the sake of God.

Good stuff here! Love this channel and its mission. Learning the cultural meanings behind these sayings is so illuminating. My wife and I did a weekly Torah study for about 3 years and it was so informative regarding the Jewish context of the first 5 books of the Bible. We as Gentiles (much less modern ones) miss so much of the intended meanings by not understanding cultural context and language techniques of the day (e.g., idioms, etc). And of course then the same holds true for the New Testament. When our modern understanding of words and phrases is incomplete (much less incorrect), it can distort or even ruin the intended meaning of those words. Keep up the great teaching.👍

I've only heard one other pastor explain the lukewarm verse the way you did and it was revolutionary to me. I feel like people use that verse to beat each other up with and it didn’t make sense the me the way it was always taught before. After hearing that pastor explain about the water and it not being refreshing or healing I would try to tell anyone who would listen, but I felt like I got a lot of blank stares! So glad I came across this video, it just reconfirms it for me. Jesus never wants to be rejected - he meets us where we are!

So true. It's encouraging to see that Christian pastors are finally teaching the scriptures from its Jewish roots. My Rabbi at SAR Shalom Synagogue in Saginaw Texas under the ministry of Lapid Orthodox Judaism is teaching a series of sermons entitled:"You have heard it said..." which cover these same misinterpretations that we have been taught for 2 millenia 😮😢. Excellent teaching! Something else to consider is that Matthew and Luke are using similar sources to compile their gospels and both quote the beatitudes. They use creative license with the dialogue and are drastically different but they start the same. Matthew’s version: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Luke's version: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. One of these is the original and the other has been altered. Maybe someday we'll find the original “Sayings of Jesus” they used to write their gospels and know for sure.

WHY DIDN'T THEY TRANSLATE CORRECTLY????? It would have saved me a lot of therapy, soul searching and pain. Still, my experiences have made me who I am and for that I am grateful. Praise be to Jesus Christ!!!

Time-stamps 3:23 - Matthew 6:3 “blessed are the poor in spirit”, does this refer to people who are sad or financially poor? 4:25 - It could be that Jesus is quoting Isaiah 66:2. The Hebrew word for poor could also mean “humble”. They know that they have nothing without God. 4:52, 5:15 - Basically, it could mean that “poor in spirit” means humility. 4:06 - Supposedly, Rabbis would quote part of a scripture to refer to the whole thing. 6:47 - The greatest commandment means action, not just feeling. 7:17 - Nephesh-Soul, love God with everything you have, all of your life. 7:52 - It’s not just a feeling; it’s love shown throughout every ounce of our lives. 8:18 - When it comes to loving your neighbor, Jesus seems to quote Leviticus 19:1.

Thank you for this enlightening presentation. Having studied the New Testament, both within a church and academically in a non-religious way, what I find most disturbing in fundamentalist Christian church interpretations of the New Testament is their total lack of understanding that upon the alleged conversion to Christianity of the Roman emperor Constantine and the subsequent adoption of Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire, through the gathering of ecumenical councils the Romans decided to include only 4 gospels in what became the New Testament even though there were many more gospels. To successfully convert the Roman public to Christianity as the new state religion the ecumenical councils significantly revised the Christ story by incorporating major elements of Roman pagan mythology, e.g. the virgin birth, Jesus being the son of God in a biological way as opposed to a spiritual way, resurrection of the body as opposed to resurrection of the spirit, and various other major revisions of the Christ story. As a Christian, I find the core message of Jesus about love, acceptance and the forgiveness of sins to be much more credible without all the apocryphal additions to what became known as the New Testament. It is important to remember that the New Testament did not just fall from Heaven. It was written by human beings based on Christian teachings passed down orally in small groups of believers who had to meet secretly to avoid persecution. Much Roman mythology was added to the Christ story.

I have issue with the common misteaching Ephesians c4; v26 as if the Bible tells us we should be angry, when it says it nowhere else in the Bible AND even in context of the same chapter, teaching anger does not fit the way they go on and on about it. Verses 31 and 32 of Ephesians shows the intent, the spirit of the word. Also many other places Matthew c5; v 23-24 I think the word AND is inclusive, and the word NOT refers to both being angry and sinning. Afterall, someone who is angry is more likely to sin one way or another, and God doesn't want us to indulge in or use emotion that is more like something of Satan's affect.

Jesus said that he was the end of the Mosaic Law with it's set of rules that they needed at that time. Israel was the chosen nation. Now the 'truth' was open to not just Jews but to the Gentile nations as well.

So here is the question, does the old law stand? Or did Jesus fulfill them with his dying in the cross?

Hello Brandon, thanks a lot for your efforts. a friend of mine said yesterday, that the gospel to the Jews is different to the gospel to the gentiles.(?!?)I told him, there is only one gospel, jesus died for us all in heaven and on earth. But am I overgoing the nuances? Can you enlarge on this perhaps, please. ?

Orthodox and other practicing Jewish, do not believe that Jesus is The Messiah. They do not believe the Messiah has arrived yet, therefore they do not believe in The New Testament.

@@dianefester9663Ephesians tells us that Jews and Gentiles are united through Christ, and together they for His church. Why would there be separate gospels?

@@username00009 well that is what I would say, too. In fact, if the good neews is God with us, born, died and resurrected for all in heaven and earth, there cant be another gospel. I think, what my friend is alluding to is that whereas Paus emphasizes faith alone, James emphasizes works. And as paul is the gentile apostle, James is the apostle to the jews!?

Very insightful teaching. I’ve noticed that even talking about NT Greek words you quoted them in Hebrew. So, is there a resource where you can read and/or study NT words in Hebrew?
