I've been on the hunt for climate controlled better sleep and it came down to the 8Sleep and SleepMe... I watched videos like this and decided to go with the Bedjet (cause it was much cheaper but I still spent approximately $900 for me and my wife to have it) Here's what I learned "the hard way": if you live in a hotter/more humid place it's NOT going to cool and it'll just be a fancy fan.. What's "too hot" for it to not be able to cool? 79 degrees fahrenheit... and you have to be 2 or 3 degrees under that for it to be able to cool or your humidity has to be low (I'm in Hawaii which isn't TOO hot-not like Vegas or AZ- but we DO HAVE humidity from the moist air so the Bedjet can't cool like at all) So now me and my wife are on the verge of returning it (I will give them credit for a 60 day trial) and getting ready to bite the bullet for the darn $2400 PLUS EXTRA HAWAII SHIPPING (8Sleep WILL NOT ship to me so I have to send it to a mainland friend first... Bedjet and SleepMe WILL send to Hawaii for what it's worth) So $2500+ is a HEFTY spend for me, but as everyone knows QUALITY sleep is priceless

Consumers, myself included, are suffering from subscription fatigue. We want to pay ONE price. Period. The average consumer has a point where they can't or won't take on one more subscription. I'm in the "won't" group. If a product requires a subscription to function, count me out. I recently stopped using 16 products and cancelled their monthly subscriptions. The value proposition wasn't there. Turns out life is just fine without those products and their on-going monthly fees. Great video review. You have a new subscriber.

Hey Brandon, I have a question about 8sleep that I think you're the only one can answer: The website says buying the "pro" subscription (annually) for $288 gives you a 5 year warranty. They also say you can cancel after you bought that first year... So if I bought that first year then cancelled and never got the monthly plan again... Would I still be covered for 4 more years after purchase (for 5 years total) or do they want me to have an active subscription the whole time? Or to have an active subscription at the time you make a warranty claim? Super appreciate all your efforts, thank you 🤙

I've asked this question before, and to my dismay... the answer is no. The total 5 year coverage is only applicable if you maintain the subscription throughout it. @@avinsamaroo1317I'm a super hot sleeper that will leave the bed soaked with sweat by morning and the Bedjet has been amazing! You definitely need to get it with the cloud sheet that they sell if you're going to try it though. It distributes the air way better instead of just blowing on your feet. I also found that I only need to set it to 73 degrees and 30% fan speed (can barely feel it) to keep me from getting hot and sweating. I thought I would need to put it to like max speed and 70 degrees, but that ended up being way too cold. One thing I really love about it is how quickly it changes temperature. I can set it to 100 and it'll get up to that in 30 seconds. I can then drop it back to 70 and a minute later it's cool again. It's great for when I want to jump in a nice warm bed (feels so cozy, like sheets out of the dryer) and then quickly want to cool it. With water based systems that takes considerably longer to do. The remote is also really good and super easy to adjust fan speed or temp without even having to look at it at night. The phone app is also great and makes setting custom schedules really easy. Best part of all is I got it through Bedjet's refurb store so the cost for everything was only $370. That plus no subscription and no chance of leaks is what really sold me on trying it. Instantly improving your sleep by a large margin over a long period of time, trust me you’ll look back and say “I’m being fleeced for this, but I can’t live without it now.” That’s how I feel about these systems.

Right now 8 sleep hands down. While it’s the most expensive and their subscription sucks, it’s far far more reliable than the SleepMe and their customer service is also objectively better.

Thanks for this. Seems like a decent product without the forced subscription could win some fans.

A few years ago I bought a used Ooler. Shortly afterwards it began making a horrible noise. I sent it to the manufacturer and after a bit too long they fixed it. Recently it stopped cooling. I reached out to them again and they basically said “tough crap”. So although I bought it used and am not out of TOO much money…now I’m sweating again at night. These systems seem like too much of a gamble. I feel like I would spend a couple thousand and get another year of cooling. I wish there were better options. These systems aren’t rocket science. I wish a major manufacturer like Samsung would start making these.

Avoid BEDJET... I am returning mine because it is NOT a cooling device. It uses the AMBIENT temperature of the room and then just blows that air into the bed. That means IF i want to take advantage of the low temp (which goes down to 66), during the summer I would have to turn my WHOLE HOUSE AIR CONDITIONER down. Boy talk about expensive to operate!!! So bottom line is that is is just an EXPENSIVE FAN. So you may want to think twice about saying it is an "alternative" to 8 Sleep or Dock Pro. Got any other recommendations that actually cool?

Really F-ing hate this subscription BS that not enough people are willing to not buy the products that demand it. The consumer just isn't willing to put their money where their mouth is and make these companies cave to what we want. They don't need more money for secure data storage when they shouldn't be storing that user data to begin with!

It's true, until the customer really backs their complaints with their dollars not spent, companies will continue this trend.

$2500 is a ton of money for a bedding product… that being said I’d probably get one if it didn’t require the subscription… if it was like a $2 option for tracking, ok. screw companies that won’t let you use the normal functionality of a product you’ve already purchased. Manually adding Schedules for temps and alarms isn’t something that requires $17/month when my $40 coffee maker can do it.
@tombuben Жыл бұрын
I don't want any AI features that need subscriptions. I just want one time purchase and a way to set a schedule for it. If the mattress has sensors great, but locking them behind a subscription is a scam. I own the sensors. I own the mattress. I should be able able to use the sensors to control the mattress. Really sad that all these companies try to nickel and dime people for using features that shouldn't need any service fees...

I was literally just about to buy an 8sleep. Yeah it’s overpriced but if it gets me better sleep that’s priceless… Then the prices jumped up £290 at checkout… those monthly costs for data tracking are crazy. Slapping AI on something gives companies the ability to rip you off apparently. There’s no way that amount of data should cost £24/month… maybe if the cover was free.
