Brandon After viewing your presentation about a month ago my option was the compex muscle stimulator. After the first use the charging device became defective. During the down time I purchased the powerdot pro-bundle. My review was the Powerdot system was easier to use and user friendly. Programs and placement were easier. Shortly after the compex arrived usage one time and system failure again. For the athlete on the move Powerdot is far superior. The pads are magnetic so if you are working out alone they snap in place. The pads are very secure and I have worked with the device on my body. I love my power dot.

@@BrandonTalbot just watched the video you did comparing the 3.0 and the updates they made.. kinda makes me glad I'm coming into this late game to be honest. I'm looking more towards wireless because it suits the general need to have an minimal amount of wires as possible, obviously the downsides are there to the wireless setup. But the real curious point for me is.. is the wireless compex better than the power dot? And worth the money? If it has the same problems then I might as well save a little over $100 and get the sport elite 3.0. Thanks for actually replying to such an old video that's got you a new subscriber!
@BrandonTalbot2 жыл бұрын
@@randomtvninja yeah for me it’s simply that if you use the wireless for any amount of time, because it’s holding the battery, the warmth it creates (electricity creates heat) and the weight means it’s constantly coming off. Whether you’re training with it or not. Powerdot is super cool - if it worked. It’s incredibly unreliable and in some instances dare I say frightening/dangerous
@randomtvninja2 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonTalbot yea it coming off randomly would be extremely annoying and if I can save that $100 and just put it towards more electrodes that seems like the best way to go! Thank you! Great video man! Very informative. I used the compex many years ago. My main goal was muscle growth and strength for baseball. Oddly, the only muscle group that really seemed to respond was my calves. And by respond, I mean that I have 17 inch calves now. Literally everyone that knows me regularly jokes with me about how superhuman my calves are. On the other hand, it did not do jack shit for my other muscle groups. My arms are still a puny 14 inches despite years of training with weights and compex. For some reason, it didn't have the same effect on any other part of my body that it had on my calves. Not to mention, I loathed compex sessions. I don't know if their technology has improved, but my god that shit was painful. My skin would BURN during training sessions. It was horrible. And it didn't matter if I shaved or not. Thoughts?
@BrandonTalbot4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. As far as it being painful and burning, yes especially if you’re doing lots of hypertrophy. You’re running an electrical current which will produce lots of heat. As far as your calves, congrats I know many jealous souls right now. And as far as the other muscles not growing, I’m not sure... what program were you using? How frequently? Lots of variables
@commandconquerfitness15064 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonTalbot You're welcome, thanks for responding. I don't recall the settings very well, but I never did strength endurance. I only did strength and the other more "physique-oriented" setting. Haha thanks, I wish I had bigger arms and smaller calves, but I guess we always want what we don't have. That's a good point you make about frequency. I was probably only training each muscle group with compex once a week. So maybe I should give it another shot, but just "specialize" in one muscle area for awhile. For example, maybe I could do 3x per week of bi's and tri's for 3 months and perhaps that would be money.

I evaluated the PowerDot, the Compex Mini (Compex's answer to PowerDot), and the traditional Compex. The PowerDot and the Compex Mini both integrate with your smartphone via bluetooth. They are similar, however the PowerDot's app is slightly more elegant, and the pod is a lighter weight. The Compex Mini comes with two pods - there is no single pod option, and is far cheaper then the PowerDot Duo. The Compex Mini never dropped the bluetooth connection, but the PowerDot dropped the connection intermittently which was pretty annoying. My biggest problem with the Compex Mini is that the stimulation felt "dirty" and not smooth. At high stimulation settings, the feeling was quite unpleasant. If I had to choose a portable, bluetooth device, I would likely choose the PowerDot over the Compex Mini. Fortunately, you don't have to choose either because the traditional Compex devices are superior in a variety of ways. As this reviewer states, the traditional Compex is far better for dynamic exercises as the pad aren't weighed down by pods. The stimulation feels smooth even at high settings. The channels can be set independently, so if your left leg feels as though it is getting less stimulation then the right, you can balance it out. The battery life is far superior to the PowerDot or the Compex Mini. Finally, the price of these devices is excellent. The Edge can be had for around $100 and it goes up from there. I see no scenario where a PowerDot or Compex Mini would be superior to the traditional Compex.

I would say that power dot is better if you go to the uno version as there would be no financial problem and also the only problem would be about the dynamic work
@BrandonTalbot4 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t consider it a financial problem (and I don’t mean like money is of no concern) I mean that if it holds strong like compex has over the years it’s totally worth it. And one of the few perks of an app is that there’s updates and could potentially make the PowerDot even better. But the uno seems like a step back. From an efficiency/time standpoint

Ok I hope you don’t mind but I would like to add a design flaw- or maybe future enhancement. They need an apple watch app and ability to Bluetooth to the watch instead of phone. I’m constantly losing connection because I walk (or lunge) too far from my iphone. This would be immensely helpful. So I’ll call it in to support but if you have their ear you can share too!! ✅

Cheers Brandon , I’m 60 and in to road cycling, I usually get some decent rides in, plenty of 100 mile rides and others of 150 , and even a 206 mile 3 years back. This year has been hampered by injuries, one after another. Old injuries and new , one when one the 206 mile ride I crashed after 16 miles knocking my knee cap but rode on for 190 miles. Then a couple of falls running since then twisting my knees. I also suffer lower back issues. And sore joints from my Ulcerative colitis. We are lucky we have a small gym at home, only multi gym, Rower and Wahoo Kickr bike plus some resistance bands. But I’m struggling to get any consistency with back to back training days. I want to be ready for some challenges next year , covid permitting. So I’m seriously thinking the Power dot might be part of the solution.. Rog 👍

@@rogerarmstrong9960 the Powerdot is great, but if you’re going to use one as a training solution I suggest a wired device like Compex. It will actually stay on. A perfect companion if you’re using something like a Wahoo Kickr. I have a playlist full of Mobility work that you should watch and start implementing. You can also watch my video on Mobile 90 if you’re looking for personalized assessment and programming.

Powerdot wont make a deeper insert because then you can just get pads on amazon that will fit. Thats how they get you, they want you to buy their expensive pads. I missed my return date apparently. Dont wait for the last day of the 30 day trial to request return RMA. They want the product shipped back within those 30 days which defeats the purpose of a 30 day trial. Terrible product and waste of money. Also I got the "6 month kit" which is BS since they only send you three pad kits and one back kit. If you use these every day or 25 uses for pads, I dont see how its a 6 month kit..
