So, I was actually playing Honkai impact during the 3rd anniversary and I actually felt very happy that the global community were getting some well deserved rewards. However, not even a few hours later the bunny video was removed and I honestly had no idea why. I was in complete shock months later when I found out the reason why. Still today, I can’t believe someone tried to murder the 2 founders of mihiyo (hoyoverse) over a VIDEO.

Its like your country invented a car - but outside your country the car is very limited. PS: Most players pre-downloaded the video on the internet, its just a forbidden topic by CN community... I feel like it's important to mention regarding the bunny event that when it comes to hating on something, it does not mean that there is a unified group with the same interest. Yes there was dissatisfaction from CN side, since this was a Global only event. (Global and CN does not have the same anniversary in Honkai Impact and they are on different versions) However, at first Mihoyo was ready to wheather the storm and ignore the complains (like how they weathered the genshin first anniversary). If it gets too bad then they compensate CN. Things got real when the patriots appeared who claimed that the front girl, Fu Hua being dressed in a bunny outfit is misrepresenting China. (For context:) Fu Hua is basically like Zhongli for Honkai Impact 3rd. She is "the protector of China" and revered by CN players as an actual pseudo goddess/symbol of the nation. To see her being the front and center girl spreading her legs to the west was enough humiliation to warrant a report to the CCP. (yes, not being patriot enough can be a crime in China) So the whole incident started as pathetic crying and then went 0-1000 real quick, promting Da Wei to scrap the whole thing in order to preserve himself and the company. This made the bunny girl event the first and last in Mihoyo's history where the global audience was favored more than CN. Also, some time after this incident Da Wei joined the CCP to hopefully prevent things like this from happening in the future.

So, I wasn't seeing things. I wasn't playing any Hoyo games at the time, but when the bunnygirl event drama went down, there were some saying stuff you just said about Fu Hua. Just yesterday I posted a comment on Tectone's video reaction about Fu Hua, and some random commenter called me a liar and to not make things up. Rando: "That's a lie. We have lot of skins for Fu Hua that doesn't represent China or whatever bs you talking about. We also saw in story, versions of Fu Hua that she was an simple woman that didn't had any relation, or desire, to follow the very conservative vision of her father for her life. Fu Hua was usually calm but never demure. There's so many chapter where Fu Hua is legitimately angry, she goes against people that she believes are wrong or is completely crazy that what you saying is just incredible dumb. If you don't play the game, maybe you shouldn't believe on everything you read online."

It's also worth noting that there are more reasons as to why Da Wei joined the CCP. One of the main reasons is because every large company is legally required to have a member of the CCP in the company at a level by which they can oversee business developments. I don't remember if that law came into effect at the time of Da Wei joining or slightly after, but I believe that law was updated roughly around the time.

Bunny girl incident eh, i was there as a bystander from SEA server. The relationship between Gobal server and CN server changed drastically after that, as it is an undeniable fact that the event was meant for Global anniversary yet CN ruined it horribly. Things gets worse when CN got compensations worth of 10 pulls for causing the problem, while Global only get 1 and a half worth of pull as a massive middle finger.

Seen a post on reddit. The former CEO of Hoyo, Cai Haoyu is the producer of Genshin Impact. He is also the former producer of Honkai Impact (first three years). The funny part js that the honkai impact had bad rewards for the first three years, which changed when the producer has changed. Right now, the producer of HI is David Jiang. Honkai Star Rail's producer is David Jiang. Genshin impact's producer is......Cai Haoyu. And this man is the reason why Genshin has such an awful rewards.

As a Chinese player that plays on both global and Chinese server, I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to feel about it. Though I do have some insights regarding to the "patriotism" the video was referring to. (long essay warning, but I do wish you read it if you want some insights) Short answer: accusing companies for being unpatriotic is a classic hate comment so cringe that no one should even acknowledge to. It can screw people out of business and livelihood (FOR REAL!). And to think that it emerged from bunny girls is just, yuck... Long answer: its complicated... but its explained below. This issue about "patriotism" is not really what it seems, it's more of an excuse, a "tag" as most Chinese would refer to. To make it clearer, it doesn't matter if the company is truly patriotic or not, once they do something that piss off the domestic community (aka the Chinese community), some small group of people simply say something like this: "This company is not patriotic because they are offering different treatments to the global community! Double standard at its finest!" A single irrational comment of the sorts is enough to spread like wildfire, among with a lot of the developers effort in vain for a good amount of time (or forever!). It's hard to say that the community is solely to blame for it as censorship can get serious sometimes, but still... Its not just mhy that face the same issue, ANY domestic companies are subject to the false accusation of "being unpatriotic", and it DOES HARM, because being patriotic is a pretty big deal to say the least, once you have the "unpatriotic tag" on you, it is hard to get rid of, and people tend not to purchase your products, or services while the tag remains on top of your head, same applies to gaming companies. It is also why so many people suggests the conspiracy of "those using patriotism as an excuse must be bots or haters hired by a different company, to bring them down in a competition!' honestly, I don't blame them for suggesting such thoughts. It is a lot more effective than it should have been. It is about as good as some average mom jokes.

GLB player here: The things that really made me feel sad was the aftermaths. Global got much less rewards than CN even tho GLB was the version that was damaged. Like, 500 vs 2800. The message that I personally received was “ok, we like that you play our games but you’re just not worth compared to a CN player”. I didn’t like being treated as a second class player so I just quit for the anniversary and when I return I just stopped spending money (I was quite the big spender). Why should I support financially a company that doesn’t value me and just spit on my face?

I personally don’t spend much at all so can’t say I relate to you the best, but it does avoid a bunch of problems for me, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time a gaming company struggled to balance the experience between an f2p and those that spend a lot, and when you add in the factor of censorship, where the company is based (which is China), it’s impossible to treat everyone equally right from the get go, they probably thought that the 2 servers are just completely separate and they have more privacy than they had originally anticipated, thus they tried to please the Chinese players (as to not lose their ground from where they are based). I’d argue that CN games (especially mobile games) nowadays are much more focused on profits compared to those that were developed 10-20 years ago, the ways these games make profit are mainly through anything related to pulling or items that are associated with probability, which is either there to make you spend more, or to just keep you stuck in the game (Genshin artifact and weapons banner being the best examples, fkin hated grinding for artifacts and primos). It’s the common theme now, you make players like the content, and keep those luxury items just out of reach. As some may say: “obtaining good things comes with a cost”, it works not only in GLB, Genshin, it’s anything really, it’s just greater enhanced in games like these, and it sucks, I suppose the game isn’t really “free” when you look at it in the sense of player experience, cause that’s what matters more isn’t it?

I spent quite a lot so having 2800 wouldn’t have changed anything (I had 107.000 crystals). It wasn’t even the bunny girls di per se. To me it was just a matter of principle and that was the first (and last, because I stopped spending money) I felt just as a cow to milk. And beside that, a second class cow. That made me lose interest for the game (when I thought about it for the first months the first thing that came to my mind was the incident) and I just… stopped playing for a while. When I returned I vowed not to spend a cents on it ever again and I did.

@@paolomariottitatusdominati4341 I know, it’s crazy, though every time I come across one of these events, I always repeat to myself “these are some extreme and most likely isolated cases compared to the vast majority”, I always believe most of the player base is normal, and people just wanted genuine fun, it would be unjust to summarize the whole cohort by looking at one isolated case. It’s sad to see that it affected you the way it did, for me personally, I tend not to care that much about one incident, but this is slightly different, on a systemic level, the treatment given to both player bases on 2 separate servers are far from perfect to say the least, but again, censorship sucks, and I don’t even know what the solution to this whole thing should be, perhaps just don’t go with the bunny girls to begin with and do some other things that doesn’t concern censorship issues would be much better, instead having to deal with bunny girls first, then the “second class milking cow” issue you mentioned that comes after the bunny girl incident, one thing went wrong, and it continued to be afterwards. Have you played Genshin before? If you did then you would know you can have a great experience with the storyline with out spending a penny, that is if you know the right way to play the game of course. I’m mostly an f2p, from all my years of gaming, I know that once the game tells you that you need to pull for something to get stronger, it is likely the money pot, and I’d just work my way around it with hours instead, not the best solution, but it does the job, challenging and fun in the same time! Again, your opinion matters the most, if you just don’t feel like spending, then don’t spend, like you said, every player can potentially be a milking cow if they want to be, if you feel like quitting altogether, it will be refreshing too! Good things comes with a cost, for real, in this case, the good thing is the game, and the cost also stems from the game, like social media If you think about it.

They were Computer Science Students who are Otaku and they are close and worked with each other since their College Days... I doubt the other 2 CEOs of miHoYo would just kick him out... Cai Haoyu spearheaded the development of Genshin Impact because Honkai Impact 3rd Players mocked the Early Open World part of Honkai Impact 3rd when it got released... Early Sakura Samsara... Actually for the free summer skin incident of HoV, that CN player saw how it looked better than the winter empress so he started to file a complain. And Mihoyo did a gigachad move by having its effects way better than the paid one. :>

I went on a deeper dig, apparently the bunny girl is just trigger for this. Mihoyo was caught for giving lower chance for gacha pull than they claim(0.98 incident), there was tons of hacker during an event(since the reward was giving by competition), and mihoyo didn't react for very long time. There is also a farmable character they put in there but take at least 4 patch to farm(probably would make the character obsolete since power creep goes hard in hi3), mihoyo didn't react in test server(they apology for like over 10 times later and reduce the farm time). I also see a lot people say the global getting tons of better stuff than cn server but I don't how real is that since I didn't start hi3 back then.

One big thing about CN is that people have to understand that they are an ultranationalist nation. If there is any small slight on the reputation of any charcters, real or not, that came from CN, they will flip out. If you are an avid reader of manhuas, you would always see the term "face". It basically means one's reputation. In China, reputation is such an important facet of life and anyone without it are dregs of their society. As someone who was in the trenches at the ongoing battle between CN and SEA, I can only say that it's futile. Expect nothing good and pray that Hoyoverse can operate outside CN's grasp so that they can finally do what they wanted.

if this happened around the first anniversary of genshin impact and assuming this was around 1.5(?) to 2.x and around where zhongli's lore in liyue was being fleshed out......... this explained the hard retconning of a certain... "ship". If I remember correctly, some CN users were against this "ship". NOW I know why the issue came out. Holy sh!t, CN players are a different breed. I feel bad for so many people who can't enjoy good things because of certain people that ruins the fun for everyone. The company is now scared of EVERY MOVE they do.

This was such an interesting video, it's like oddly satisfying in a way? I don't understand why the Genshin community is randomly bringing this up 3 years after it happened, the honkai Global community did complain about it a lot during the time but Genshin players didn't give a shit back then but now they do since it's a free video reaction. I know you don't usually do this but it's so weird now seeing this be the 2nd video a mostly genshin/star rail content creator has made about this. we don't try to hide this. quite literally if you ask any Global player that was there during the time they'll likely give you this huge rant about what happened. While a vast majority of Global also didn't like the bunny girl thing because it's WAY TOO OUT OF CHARACTER FOR THEM. so most of us didn't care if it was taken down. what we were more mad about was the compensation Global got vs what CN got. also this wasn't exclusive to the Global audience, the video was public so anyone can watch by mihoyo. I just don't know why CN complained about this small thing when they've gotten way more than we have when it comes to this kind of thing. in the beginning of Honkai impact 3rd during special holidays or events (their equivalent to valentines day) they could call a specific number to get a pre-recorded message from one of the characters that sometimes flirts with them or acts flustered inviting them to party/gathering etc. it's a deep rabbit hole tbh that you don't want to go into. this was only available to CN players.
