Hoyoverse actually sending care packages of food and water to the employees is legit so heartwarming, though. There are so many cases of companies abusing their employees, but Hoyoverse prioritized their employees and made sure they were safe, before caring about making money. It's such a simple thing, but it's still so nice to see. The government failed to take care of them, so Hoyoverse stepped up.

9:54 The 240 days makes more sense from a programmer's perspective. The banners were probably saved on the database as having a Banner Start Date and a Banner End Date. The time remaining is simply the difference between the Banner End Date and the current date. As they did not know when the lockdowns would end, they would need to update the Banner End Date to a reasonably distant future date so that the banners wouldn't just disappear as a quick fix. Other fixes such as changing the logic of the display or changing the text will require additional coding and testing which may or may not break the banner. Therefore, on May 5, the 125th day of the year, the banner end date was set to something along the lines of Dec 31, 2022 or Jan 1, 2023. This would cause the days remaining calculated from the updated banner end date to be 240 days.

The extended delay gave me a chance to get Ayaka as I had just spend a month and a half hospitalized. The yandere persona for Ayaka was just starting to pecolate before the "240 days", but the event happening made sure to solidify it for all time.

What really made the yandere meme applicable was that no other character was crushing on the traveler as hard as she was at the time. We literally went on a date and she wants to hold hands. The banner was the perfect storm for her and looking back, those memes may have boosted her popularity more than the actual story and gameplay

As I said under the Mujin video comment, it is hard for westerners to get the whole picture of country like China by reading only English news from only western media, for obvious political reason. At least as a Shanghainess, my view is that many people do think Shanghai did a bad job as a local government because of some stupid officials. But many other provinces, even some of the districts in Shanghai still did a quite decent job preventing the virus getting out of control. My family and all my relatives in Shanghai basically didn't face any issue back then.

this delay actually helped me to overcome my gambling addiction with the game. on these few days I learned that I couldn't waste 2-3/8 of my salary in primogems. already had Ayaka, Ayato was the last banner I pulled with my money (220€ to get just the character) I've been clean since, only welkin and nothing else. I still pull for characters and lose 50/50ties, but I don't swipe my card until I get all the characters.

During that whole thing, I managed to completely finish out both Mondstadt and Liyue's assortment of primo giving quest and even finished up either one or both of their statues. I have not managed to clear out an entire nation worth of quests or finish a statue in its entirety since then. The constant flurry of events with time limits and the constant need to get stuff done makes it so difficult for me to even think about properly exploring and gathering stuff.

From my understanding of the guy trying to st*b Dawei (CEO) Long story short MHY planned a bunny event for Honkai Impact 3rd Anniversary for GLOBAL. CN version of HI3 can't get it because of government regulation with bunny suits. CN community was pissed AF. The guy was so mad that Global was gonna get the bunny suits and CN doesn't. The attempt to physically attack Dawei caused MHY to cancel the bunny event for Global. And actually provided compensation for CN instead.. (If im missing any information, please correct me) Hoyo CN community can be very very scary at times

honestly, that 4 week freeze period was a good time to kinda catch up on content already in the game. I can't say for other players, but a friend and I were just chilling, collecting resources again without a care, farming all books and enhancements to level up our characters and their weapons, do side quests, achievement farming, and building out serenitea pots. and other smaller things. Yeah, it was boring to see the same banner during that time, but it wasn't the worse thing that could've happened.

I think 240 days thing was an automatic placeholder. If a banner timer runs out and a new banner isnt brought the game automaticly puts up the previous banner again with 240 days.

I actually think that the shorter patch cycles are still fine because there are often still complaints about patches dragging on once the main events or stories are finished by the majority of players. Perhaps not all the time, but it was actually pleasant (to me and a lot I saw) to have them be shorter in Sumeru. I don't know their usual story writing cycle though, so I'm not sure if the reason they flat out went back to six week cycle is due to that being the norm or due to them actually needing that much for prep time. Also have to think about that time being used for closed betas for upcoming characters and events as well, which each beta group should end up going through, and they need time as well. Lots to consider but those were actually still my preferred length.

This banner was hell I was so bored I was like, hey lemme do 20 wishes on both banners because I was so bored and I wanted a couple of 4-star constellations so I can start building them. i returned to play genshin again a bit before the 240 days ayaka banner (my cousin got my acc to ar16 so we could play in co op. but played by myself on mobile 6 months or so before and got to ar9). it was like after ayato's banner finished and ayaka's banner still had the 20 days countdown i think. i was a bit confused why the banner was so long but then i figured that it had to do with covid so yeah.. i thought at the time it was normal for an update to last 4-5 weeks until genshin announced they'll go back to the 6 week update schedule
