No worries. I think many of us need video tutorials to really understand complex rules. Trying to deliver the essence of a game before we play, especially a complex Euro, saps the energy of some of my group. Having a really concise quick start really helps. I can then go back to the rules for a clarification. I would suggest an added offering could be an appendix of common questions or stumbling areas but appreciate this would probably take too long to produce. Again, thanks for the great work in taking something complex and making it easily consumable.

Again, I made the mistake of jumping into a game with a hazy understanding of rules...it turned into hours of "I think that's how this works..." and "wait, did we do that wrong?" Though still enjoyable, it was a rough start. So, I just watched your tutorial and realized all the mistakes we made in playing! In half the time we spect consulting the rulebook or stumbling through our own confusion, we could have just watched this video and known everything. Thank you for the great content! I will definitely have my husband watch this with me before we attempt our second play.

So lovely to see dolphins on the board, swimming happily. If there were any dolphins swimming about this area of the world during these times they'd be either hunted down and eaten or swimming belly up in all that muck :) Anyway, I'm still trying to decide whether I need this game in my collection seeing I have Brass Birmingham. I must admit I like the beer mechanics of BB more, although ports take on the role of breweries it seems. One thing I like about BL is the shortcut to the "wild cards" from BB, instead of hassling with discarding three cards to grab a wild location and wild industry you simply discard two cards and build wherever you like. Anyway, I might grab BL if I find it on sale one day but for the time being I'll stick with BB :) Excellent video, the coal is particularly well explained, that's probably the most complicated thing for many, not complicated but rather easily overlooked when you plan your strategy. You have a perfect move planned and you're ready to start with your power combo only to realise you are actually not connected to any coal! :O

At 17:57 how come is it allowed to build the second connection from Warrington to Manchester? I thought you could only build when the location was adjacent to a tile you own or to a connection, but there is no industry in Warrington. I thought you needed to build first in Warrington so you could place the link to Manchester.

@GamingRulesVideos6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lizett. Each link scores individually, so if you had 2 links to the Midlands (where there are 2 link icons), those links would be worth 2 points each (and more if there were any link icons in the cities at the other end. Hope this helps. It is the link tile itself which scores the points.

Please Paul can you help me with that question: What happens if I build an iron industry and there are no iron cubes in the supply? Do I take the number of cubes, printed on the tile, from the iron market and after that sell it back to the market? I can't find an explanation for it... and we already had this situation in a 3 player game.
@GamingRulesVideos6 жыл бұрын
This is a question which has cropped up a few times. First, if there are no iron cubes in the supply then it means they are all on the board on already built iron mines. Therefore, building another one at that point is probably a bad idea, so you probably shouldn't do it. However, if you do, cubes are not intended to be limited, so just borrow some from somewhere else for now (some people borrow them from the top of the market). Hope that helps.
