Awesome tutorial! i love the fact that there are 3D graphical representations of all your examples and the setup and how the actions take place. Definitely helps to understand exactly what you are referring to and visualize it on the game board. Excellent work! Subscribed :)

Excellent work. Narration, editing and scripting were all of a great standard. This is the type of video you can actually ask your friends to watch a few days beforehand and they will actually get through the video instead of giving up after two minutes. Beats reading the rule book or getting some on the spot, cobbled together explanation from the owner of the game with half the rules accidentally left out.

Thanks for the comment. I'm really happy how this one turned out, even if it did make me want to stop doing 3d animated videos as it just took way too long :)

I lost focus in the 3 other videos I watched... So, I was really restless when I watched this one. But I was able to understand the entire thing. You've definitely got my subscription.

Thanks for the comment. A huge amount of time goes into the scripting and storyboard, and then running it all past various people (including non-gamers) to see if it all makes sense and flows well. This is why my vids take me 100 hours to make :) Well, that and the digital animations :)
@oftheborg8 жыл бұрын
Yeah. That's a lot of work. The illustrations are really well done. I hope the work pays off for you. =)

I couldn't imagine a way of doing the explain-job better than you did. Perfect job! I just watched the video to remember the rules to be able to explain the game tomorrow. Now I am thinking about simply starting this video. ;-)
@GamingRulesVideos8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. A huge amount of time and effort goes into planning the video and scripting it to make sure its clear. But yeah, it has been known that your other players come round and then just watch this for 20mins before you start playing. It takes people usually longer than that to teach the game :) Let me know how it goes.

Wow I absolutely love the way you've done a digital version of the game board to illustrate the rules! (I'm so curious... what software did you use to do this???) I'm a very visual person and it's so much easier to learn a game this way. And if I ever need to teach people the game I think I'll just show them this video first :) Thanks for all your hard work on this!

Thanks for the comment. One of the ideas of these videos is so that you can get your new players to all watch it beforehand, and then its quicker when you actually sit down to play :) I use the adobe creative suite. Specifically After Effects for the animations - but it requires some additional plugins, it cannot do the 3d work on its own.

If the central gear is on the end od an age position, we do play the last round and then checking Victory points, or without playing last round? So when gear is moved to the end its just summing up the victory points?
@GamingRulesVideos7 жыл бұрын
when the gear turns to the end of an age, you play that round, then feed, and then score.

Just a question. Are the resources on the brown track also cumulative? I.e. Will I gain all the bonuses whenever I remove a worker from Yaxchillan? Or do I just get the extra resource if I'm getting the same resource type? The boardgame arena version of the game doesn't do the cumulative thing of giving you wood stone and gold. My friend who taught me this game also don't apply the cumulative resources that way. :)
@GamingRulesVideos7 жыл бұрын
Hey Benjamin. The tech bonuses are always cumulative. However, they do only apply when taking a resource of that type. tech 1: Whenever you gain wood from Palenque / Yaxchillan - gain 1 more wood tech 2: Whenever you gain stone from Yaxhillan - gain 1 more stone tech 3: Whenever you gain gold from Yaxhillan - gain 1 more gold So, on the last space of Yaxchillan, where you get stone and gold, if you have tech 3, you do get both. Tell your friend, and write to the BGA people too if it is wrong there :)
@benjespina7 жыл бұрын
We were doing a far broken interetation of the rule, we got all the bonuses regardless of which resource we were getting . HAHA.

@@GamingRulesVideos Than I don't see any advantage of using it... Any advice?
@GamingRulesVideos6 жыл бұрын
@@d-man8294 You would only use it based on the current placement of workers. If you have more workers out than the other players, or really need to move it two spaces, then do it. Also, near the end of the game, it can really disrupt another players plans, like if they had their next few turns planned out and then you go and move it 2 steps :)

Hi! Thank you for a very nice presentation of TZOLK'IN! However one thing remains very unclear, and that is the use of the technologies!!? If you're on the second spot of the resource extraction track, where it says + one stone, can you take two woods at the same time as you take two ston??! And if you're on the third spot, can you take two wood, two stone in addition to two gold, at the same time??!!! It's impossible to understand this fully... I would be very happy for an answer! Yours sincerely Zindy Roka

This was an excellent tutorial, thanks! I have a couple questions: for the starting player action, you say you may choose to advance two days instead of one, but not if one of YOUR workers would be pushed out the gears on the SECOND rotation. Does this apply to other player's workers too? i.e. I may not advance two days if I would push out another player's worker? Also, if a worker would be pushed out on the first rotation, may I still advance two days?
@GamingRulesVideos7 жыл бұрын
When you choose to rotate it twice, you cannot do so if it pushes ANY worker off. However, you always move it once, so if that pushes someone off, then that's ok - you just cant choose to rotate it twice if it would force a worker to be removed.
