Awe, I'm so happy for you! Congratulations on your palette. I had one my father made for me. I was plein air painting from the boat and lost it in the water when a large wave hit the boat. I wish you nothing but happiness with yours. May it being you a lifetime of joy and creativity. You can seal it in a brass wax. Not that you'll need it if you aren't going to be taking it around with you.

There’s always a certain item/s that we are willing to splurge money on. We work so hard for our money, so every now and then buying something crazy expensive because we LOVE it is self love. Gotta treat yourself! I have found that my art supplies and especially on watercolor items, apparently my budget tends to be open… but tell me to pay for bills and I swear my wallet closes. 😂 Also, happy to see you back posting and can’t wait to see which watercolors are the chosen ones for the Brass Pallete. I started my watercolor journey about 3 months ago and your channel has been filled with great content for it! 🖤

Happy birthday! Thank you for a wonderful video. I think there are ways of restoring the shine after brass has developed a patina. The reason I want an unpainted brass palette is BECAUSE of how it tarnishes/patinas. It ages in a way that is total unique to you and how you use and handle it.

Nice palette, Ive thinking about getting one from this guy myself also non painted on the outside. If you don’t polish the brass it gets a very nice patina over time as the surface oxidises but areas you hold or touch a lot stay shiny. In my opinion brass watercolour boxes look better as they get older with all the accumulated dings and wear they get if used a lot. If you do want to polish it at any time just use a metal polish and soft cloth, there’s a product called “brasso” specifically formulated for polishing brass. A sort of in between option is to rub it down with fine steel wool, that will remove the oxidisation but over time it will get that matte clean brass look.
@AllanJayQuesada2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip, John. I am definitely excited for my palette to get that worn off look and patina in some parts, but a part of me also wants it shiny.haha. have you ordered yours?
@lindyashford77442 жыл бұрын
Lovely palette. Over time it will patinate naturally just use a soft cloth to remove any oily finger marks. It will patinate more in some places than others. Do not use any cleaners on it and if you need to wash it do so with very gentle water with a little dish soap and a soft cloth. It will take some time to patinate well, but just be patient with it. It is really impossible to say what colour exactly the patina will be, that is down to environment and handling. I really like the sturdy build on this, and feel it will have a nice weight when it is filled (I have seen you video on that). Sitting it on a soft dry cloth when in use will prevent scar th he’s to the bottom. I love the imperfections, they give it character, in fact I think the maker has put the imprint of his own self on what he makes, though similar in design to other patented these have recognisable characteristics that could last centuries!
@AllanJayQuesada2 жыл бұрын
Youre right Lindy. and Thank you for all the tips! I like its weight as it personally makes it feel more valuable in contrast to plastic. I dont know, but Im excited for the patina effect. hahaha. the older this palette gets, the better it becomes,.. just like leather and wine. :)

The last ones you reviewed ( Maries Masters, Maries Beginner Set and Pans Set... ) are nice, but Im curious to see your feedbacks towards this set that is called as higher quality of it. It has a white cover with a huge Marie's word on it colored with rainbow hues. When we will get to see another supply review?

I myself dont like to wait for a year so I went with the Santa Fee Brass Palette from Etsy. There is little waiting time for those. Thought I'd share my findings incase someone is as unpatient as me. To keep precious metals safe just polish it with Elsterglanz or a simlar metal type cleaning paste product. It's what I use to clean my jewelry and knifes etc.

@phillipstroll7385 getting a brass palette has actually no better edge compared to typical tin except for 2: 1st. brass palette is sturdier. And 2nd, it's the "class" and aesthetics. @AllanJayQuesada2 жыл бұрын
You'll have to prove that accusation about the authenticity of the item.. if it's the color, I believe brass has different types and finishes. This manufacturer of palette has been there for quite some time, and has sold hundreds if not thousands of palettes. If they're scamming, atleast one must have come out and file complaint..please understand as well that India is rich with brass so brass there is cheap as well as the labor.

You may have read an article about the 'Frazer Price Brass palette'. Available at Art suppliers like Jackson's or Ken Bromley. That one is indeed electroplated and costs around 110.-. Dollars, or Euros. And the manufacturer says clearly that it's plated. The weight of Allen's Palette on the other hand is a clear indicator that it's genuine. Brass is darn heavy. My plated one is not... So I am saving up for the real thing thus supporting India's economy...
