Eye-opening story of two brave women who haven't let their disabilities to stop them from becoming great mums, and they are ready to fight the odds to prove everyone else wrong.
Trish was born with a condition that confines her to a wheelchair and cannot really use her arms or legs - as a consequence she has to perform everyday tasks with her mouth. For her this means preparing breakfast for her children, getting them dressed and even changing a nappy with her mouth. If life wasn't busy enough, she is now pregnant with her third child and is planning a home-birth against doctor's advice.
Michelle is a 26-year-old single mum who was born with dwarfism and her energetic two-year-old Treziah is growing fast. She must learn to cope with being a mum to someone who is almost the same size and will soon be bigger than her.
Real Families brings you stories of modern day family life from around the world through the eyes of children, parents, and parenting experts.

I can't believe Michelle's friends and family don't support her. That's insane to me. And that strangers can be so rude to the other mom. This world is something else. I'm inspired by them both. Michelle mistakenly thinks her height is preventing her from doing things she "should" be able to do, but I had many of the same challenges she has as a "normal" size mother. And I was completely exhausted all the time. I wish she could see she's doing fine.

Once again.... where's the father....He was there...to go to bed with her... This sickens me...These men... making like the woman are the best...get them pregnant an leave them... It is happening more n more...NOT men ..just getting even for .... the 'past'....I don''t need negative comments....just look around ...where ever you live.... !!! Well 'Little People BIg Lives" mom raised 4 children...3 that were normal...an yet she took care of this whole family....physically. Not her husband.

This is just sad and ridiculous. How this society can be, it makes me angry and breaks my heart. How dare someone tell you can't or deserve to have a family. You can't discriminate someone because of how they look, how they were born, what color they are, things they can't change. This world needs help seriously, the fact these women are doing so well for themselves and children, much better than I've seen healthy able bodies ppl do, says a lot. Anyone shaming them should take a closer look at themselves in the mirror, God don't like ugly and God is blessing these women.

She’s doing just fine, but her own awful childhood makes her far more sensitive to any of the normal mistakes and stages of motherhood. I do not blame Michelle’s foster mother, though, because if my teen daughter got pregnant while she was a student, I’d be very upset too. I also know that if she kept the child, she’d almost certainly give up higher learning and lose the opportunity of a good education, good career, and a financially solvent life. I’d also assume she’d be a single parent, since most teen/young adult relationships end. I wouldn’t want that future for my own child, and that’s what Eileen was mourning for Michelle. She never doubted that Michelle would be an excellent parent, just that it hurt her chances for the future. But Michelle’s biological family are awful people for rejecting her repeatedly. What family takes in one sibling but refuses to take the other? They are not good people.

I thought I’d need one, as I’m a mom of twins and I’m a paraplegic. But my kids were so used to holding on to my wheelchair as they learned to walk that they simply stayed by my side whenever we went out in public. I can only think of one time between the ages of 1-4 that my daughter ran off ahead of me, and that was to greet a little friend at the park. She got into a lot of trouble, though, so she never did it again.

Would YOU be able to do what they do!?? I bet not! These women are amazing at what they do, a lot of people with their disability would of given up long time ago and they havent!

Michelle: I have a suggestion for you. I had a blind friend who did this. She put a heavy wire mesh door on her kitchen. This allowed her to work in the kitchen while her child was in the next room. That way, she could hear him if he got into trouble and he could see her at the same time. In your case, you would be able to see him as well. And, he can't come in and grab hot pots, knives, etc. while you are working in there.

Damn straight! Little moms son is a handful. He would take the patience of a Saint to deal with, but I'm sure he's adapted and turned out ok. She said she's not sure if she's doing it right, but as long as they're alive and well at the end of the day, you've done it right. They'll end up being determined and clever because their moms are determined and they've had to be clever.

Of course you can. You simply need to get up every single day and just do what needs to be done, solving problems as they arise. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial. I’ve been a paraplegic for 40 years, and I’ve been married 30 years. I gave birth to twins naturally, and they’ve grown up healthy and happy and are now successful college students. I work full time, own my own home, drive my adapted vehicles I bought myself. My life is full. It’s been challenging all the time, but I have never once thought I couldn’t handle the responsibility.

Right before this video I watched a woman imprisoned for 16 years for strangling her 3-months old baby, and she had ALL her limbs working. Yes, we are all differently abled.

@Lord Tachanka Now that ye mention family support, - I've a funny feeling that I saw this lady in another Documentary with her Parents, and her Parents encouraged her to be as independent as possible and to do things on her own raising the kid(s,) so, surely that must have instilled confidence in her. If I can remember watching it, like I think the Parents still were in the same house but she was raising the kid(s) herself like, do ya know what it was now, it could have been one of the earlier pregnancies, but the Documentary was kinda coming at it from another angle. But can easily see from all this support, - how the other lady with the growing Toddler lacks confidence. But I do hope, that she too, finds the support and encouragement to develop her confidence.

Lord Tachanka I think the same thing. She kept talking about the people around her being negative the whole time. Even her doctor said she should consider her “options” when she was pregnant. Negative comments have probably made her feel so insecure about being a good mother. She would probably have a different outlook had she been around more positive people.
