Been a few years since I finished Bravely Default, but this instantly brought back memories of grinding battles to max out all 20 jobs. To me, it's the best example of a classic Final Fantasy style game in the last decade
@tarouyamada30912 жыл бұрын
The first song played is an arranged version and is not used in the game. (Combat sound effect flowing in the song is a feature of the arranged version) This arranged version was played under the name of Linked Horizon led by Revo, At the concert, all songs that had an arranged version were played in the arranged version. (Although it is often misunderstood, there is also an official CD sound source apart from the concert sound source, and this video is the CD version) By the way, the arrange CD was sold before the game's OST.

this energetic theme just pumps you up for literally ANY lame random-encounter battle. Combined with the sheer endless job-/skill - combinations this is what makes Bravely so so much better than what final fantasy did these last 15 years

@@narius_jaden215 Nah, don't get me wrong. I'm a true and loyal fan of the FF series since VI on the NES and especially since VII. But they took a turn since X and i'm not liking where it's going. I'm not hating, i'm just upset.

funny thing is, Bravely Default is really just classic final fantasy again but for some reason Square just refuses to believe that format still works for the actual series. Dragon Quest gets to stay the course, Bravely Default and Octopath do it under a different name and it still works. And every release they seem surprised those games do as well as they do...

I love this game so much. The first one is like Revo's "true vision" to the song and the second one you heard is the one that's actually in the game. The mix did sound better, mostly for the drums I think. Also, this is the regular battle theme. The theme is also known as "The Bells of Battle". In game it even references the short arpeggiated run you hear in the first FF games, while encountering an enemy. BD is an homage to the old Final Fantasy but with a twist. It originally came out on the 3DS and I just love it. Story wise, it's quite original if you finish it. Also, the illustration you saw on the second video came from the game. It's the first big city, Caldisla. In this game, the cities are hand drawn. You move into these huge pieces of art Oh and the character designer, Akihiko Yoshida, is the guy responsible for NieR Automata characters design. Happy to see you liked it, Revo killed it with Bravely Default. He never missed
@Nirual862 жыл бұрын
Its the kind of difference that comes from both the hardware and gameplay purpose limitations. The ingame version is more designed to be a smooth loop and doesn't have the solo parts that kinda disrupt the flow. Which also helps when the song can be cut off at any moment because the battle is over or a character theme kicks in.
@rezahydra2 жыл бұрын
The base battle theme of Bravely Default, also doubling as one of the best songs in all gaming due to how it blows even the vast majority of Uematsu tracks out of the water for me. There's something I've said many times before, how Bravely Music except for Bravely Second, just doesn't get old for me. And this song helps with something that almost gets old in this game if you do what I do and just grind periodically and then turn off encounters until another chapter or if I wanna fill out some more of the bestiary in D's Journal. Something also to note is that this was part of a TRIPLE LOOP IN A CONCERT where they played an extended version of this song, directly leading into the boss theme At Battle's End/Fighting to the End (Official vs Fan Translation), before being followed directly up by a vocal performance of He of the Name/That Person's Name Is. If you're now wondering if this song was incorrectly translated when we first got it, you'd be correct. "The Bell of Battle" is the actual one. I like most of the official names, but some why fitting more thematically just sound worse, ergo the official name for the song commonly referred to as Wicked Flight being actually called Evil Wings. But that's a whole other tangent for the rest of this amazing tracks Revo has made.

I absolutely love the Bravely series music, Bravely Dedault is honestly one of my favorite RPGs of all time. It's such a great blend of retro RPGs with modern consciences, the cast, the music, the battle system, all seriously incredible. This is the normal battle theme too ahaha. If you're looking for non-battle tracks would really recommend "Land of Glaze" one of my favorite town themes. To give some explanation to the name of the series, the Bravely Default games are very heavily inspired by Final Fantasy, specifically Final Fantasy 3 and 5 I'd say. The naming of "Bravely Default: Flying Fairy" is just the original name of the game with the added subhead. "Flying Fairy" or "The Flying Fairy" is just a play on FF for Final Fantasy.

I have never had a random battle go on long enough in these games to get past the guitar. But will say: yeah, that's what you hear in most fights. The random encounters. Also, the main draw of these games is Braving (taking turns in advance) and Defaulting (defend and save up turns for Braving safely), and it has an enhanced version of the Final Fantasy 3 and 5 job systems.

Huh, when you said "two versions", I thought there would also be the live version, which is amazing, too :D ... wait? The "Long version" is the live! Interesting that the uploader (not the requester) didn't include the footage as that one is really amazing :o Would have loved for you to see it! It might have also made it easier to choose that to spot the difference better, listening to the short (ingame) version might have been easier! (Linked it in the dicord now :D) And yes, the image of the second video is related, it is the starting city! If I remember correctly, this was a regular battle theme ...? It's been too long though, so I don't really remember D:
@rezahydra2 жыл бұрын
Very slight correction. The long version was actually made first, then this version, if you'd believe it. Revo did retakes when he was told songs were too long for battles. The exception being Serpent Devouring the Horizon, in which that was just cut for Phases 1-2 considering it's such a long fight. Even the Credits Theme had this cut treatment, twice in fact thanks to there being two extended versions. The Shou Kikou version is the one made after the one in game as an encore, why the Daikikou version is the original and longest version to date.

If you want a good Bravely Default Battle Theme, basically anything in the entire series will do, but I recommend “Fighting to the End” as it heavily features Marty Friedman on Guitars.
@FrozenSolid902 жыл бұрын
The game's had two separate Re-releases, Flying Fairy and For The Sequel, and only the second re-release made it outside of Japan where it released without the subtitle... So, the Flying Fairy one might actually be an older version... But it is in fact the regular random encounter battle theme for the game.
@Nirual862 жыл бұрын
actually the international release still has a subtitle on the title screen, its just "Where the Fairy Flies". The subtitle is absolutely a requirement for the plot twist. Flying Fairy was the first version of the game but that isn't relevant for the music. The ingame theme is just a remix that fits better with the actual gameplay (and hardware limitations) and there probably was some back and forth in that process.

Bravely Default Flying Fairy is the full name of Bravely Default. The direct sequel is Bravely Second AKA Bravely Second End Layer, and Bravely Default 2 is a new world and characters (making Bravely Second kind of like the FFX-2 of Bravely Default.) Bravely Default's soundtrack is by Revo, as is Bravely Default 2's, but Bravely Second's music is by Ryo and tbh not as good as the other two, but not bad per se. Only a few songs are carried over between games, most notably the Ba'al Battle theme by Revo is used in Bravely Second and "Battle With Demons," the battle theme from Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light (the spiritual predecessor to the BD series, music by Naoshi Mizuta) makes an appearance in Bravely Default. And there are plenty of great songs in the games that aren't as high energy as the stuff you've heard as well.

Here to do my legally obligated Bravely Second shilling and say that the soundtrack, while very different from Revo's music and maybe not to some people's tastes, is severely underappreciated. Hope it makes it into the requests at some point.

@@masdrionalt I remember being put off by Second's normal battle theme at first and overall it definitely doesn't match up to BD 1 (though neither does BD 2, but its closer), but its not bad by any means.

@@Nirual86 I had an experience probably contrary to most, where as much as I like Conflict's Chime the novelty of it completely wore off by the last few chapters of the game. Meanwhile Second's battle theme never ended up getting old for me, while BD2 saves itself from that problem by having two battle themes (though I honestly liked the first one a bit more and never got that tired of it).
@Rinienna2 жыл бұрын
I know the videos can sometimes disappear off KZbin, but I do really wish that the songs were recommended in the right order and he listnened to the actual game version first, and then given the actual concert recording? The second song selected here is the actual in game version, the first being the original uncut version///that is later used for the concert in a huge medley. The battle medley of the concert is a genuine delight but hard to exactly get for a reaction given it's three ish songs in one/20 minutes long.
