Bravely Default - Spiritmaster Job Overview

BIG CORRECTION: Convert BP uses up 25% of your max MP, not HP. This doesn't change much when using Spiritmaster as a sub job, but it does mean that it is safer to use when playing Spiritmaster as a main job, since you won't be potentially putting yourself in the danger zone. Thankfully, MP is something the Spiritmaster has in spades, meaning this cut for 2 extra BP is actually not that bad of an option if you need BP quickly. Sorry for the misconception!

Holy one + Healing lore + epic group cast is such a busted combination to save your party in a pinch, I remembered when only my spiritmaster agnes was alive and the rest are down, she just straight up casted a single raise and everyone is back with full HP and kicking because raise becomes an AoE revive with epic group cast and the healing of the revive is boosted from holy one and healing lore, its nuts

I know you've made the BP convert correction a pin already, but I would like to note that this does mitigate one of the cons a bit imo. Having been replaying the game for the past few weeks I don't think it has early level clunk whatsoever. As soon as BP convert becomes an option, paired with MP free in a pinch the infinite action economy works well in so many fights. I don't particularly feel the loss of enigma's multi targeting as an elemental shield or 2 can compensate occasionally, and the BP requirement on enigma by comparison doesn't make the character's turn sequence feel as tight. I'll admit that this is more problematic for scenarios where I want fairy ward as well as elemental immunity but those situations are relatively rare. Protect ally + MP Free BP convert are so overwhelmingly powerful that I can hardly agree with the cons considering the skill is only level 5, but you kinda have to go out of the way for MP free so I suppose it's a 2 way argument.

I hope there will be articles about Bravely Default 2. After completing the game a few times, I want to experience more jobs than the common combos.

I saw the Spiritmaster aesthetic years ago when first playing this game and I’ve wanted to play healers with that look in video games and ttrpgs ever since. Btw, great choice in FF XIV background music.

Big question for the community: if using Valkyrie's Spirit Barrier and Spiritmaster's Adaptation, does being hit with an elemental attack restore your MP?

Sadly no, as Adaptation makes the recipient absorb elemental damage as HP, not MP. Spirit Barrier's effects won't be applied as the magic damage the Valkyrie is getting hit by won't technically deal damage to them when under the effect of Adaptation. Now the Dark Knight's Absorb Magic will allow the Valkyrie to restore MP when hit with elemental magic, even if paired with Adaptation. It's a strange outcome, but I hoped this helped!

I'm wondering, what are your thoughts on Bravely Second? (The game, not the mechanic.) And if you'll make a list like these for the jobs in that game as well. Superb videos! This is making me crave the gamr again.

As of right now, I'd probably say BS is my favorite of the Bravely Series thanks to a lot of factors that if/when a playthrough happens for it, I will go into detail about. I'm pleased to hear you enjoy this series, and I hope you look forward to the videos to come!

I was planning a replay of this amazing game and your videos are perfect to plan in advance my party composition. Maybe this time I'll try to avoid my beloved combo "Ranger+Spell Fencer" ahah Thank you for this amazing series and I hope to see many videos from you, maybe on the other games of the series! One question ti close: I plan to watch your playthrough of the game too, but I have a question in advance: in some of the episodes, did you show how to "easily" level up jobs? Because honestly that has always been one of my biggest problem with BD, and I've never found a good guide about that. So I'm open for tips about that

To answer your question: Yes! I set aside parts of the series where I go over the best/easiest ways of leveling your party and their jobs at that point in time. I hope you enjoy the video series, and you find some awesome job combos to mess with!

Ah yes my favourite healing ability: negate all damage. This job has 4 actions doing pretty much the same thing (I think it could really do without Spirit Wards) yet has an absurd toolkit regardless. It' s also funny that this job is closer to FF14's "shield healers" than any of its inspirations (Devout) or cousins (BD2 Spiritmaster). I guess damage prevention is the hot "new" thing in JRPGs

Stillness is a skill that I absolutely cannot ever forget. See, back in my second run (the first one I got to the final boss instead of only reaching the false ending), I had leveled Time Mage on Agnès. I had her as my only healer by chapter 4 reasonably, and was grinding a bit more to get all jobs leveled. And when I discovered Stillness, I had an epiphany… Hasten World. Hasten World got nerfed in Second, and I still feel this might be partly why. You have your Stillness caster go last, and as long as someone has Hasten World, you can spend all the BP you have away and get it back right as Stillness ends, meaning your only true threats are ailments.

Yeah, that's a big oopsie from me. It does change a few things regarding how easy it is to keep the Spirtmaster's BP up though. Since MP isn't nearly as important for this job to function, it can take the cut in MP fairly well. Thank you for pointing this out!

Slight error about "Convert BP", it cost 25% of max MP, not HP, So yea this job is really broken, all varies ways to nullify damage/ailments making most bosses a joke. You get this job when you got access to mobs that give you 99 JP, so getting all the broken stuff of spiritmaster should not be a problem But anything that doesn't nullify dmg in the Spiritmaster is kinda outclassed. Salve Maker has the doubling Max HP without costing you 3 slots and can cast Elemental attack without spending 1 BP. Moderation is redundant when you can already have a dedicated BP battery. But it's fine to have broken skills mixed with bad ones, Freelancer only has Mimic, which is all it needs to for that job to be broken.

Does save wm mp stack with the gold hairpin (I think that's what it's called; it reduced MP usage by a considerable amount) or did I go into the final battle wasting a head equipment slot.

Yes it does! All magic discount abilities and items DO stack with each other, meaning you can sink the cost of those higher tier spells really low if you have enough of em.

One of the builds I was most proud of in my first playthrough was Edea as Templar-Spiritmaster, mostly because I had finally made a strong build that featured Edea as either Templar or Swordmaster. Since I also had Ninja-Spellfencer Ringabel, the pair worked quite nicely.

I love that you just have arcanist and spirit master are like supposed to be direct upgrades but arcanist is just not that good while spiritmaster is one of the most broken jobs in the game

What really gets me is that I feel like Arcanist could've been great if just a few of its shortcomings were addressed in one of the many re-releases of BD. It's a shame it never was.
