It actually SEEMED like Travis was starting to realize/admit to himself that he was drinking too much, even if he wouldn't admit to a problem. Earlier in the episode - I think it was even the same day they were going to go out - he'd said something to Jack about how he was going to try to drink less, and not get wasted that night. But then, as they were beginning to prepare to go out, Hannah asked him not to get too drunk and "ruin her night," and that set him off. I know the mindset exactly: he took it as a personal insult, probably because he perceives the accusation of alcoholism as suggesting he has no control over his actions, which he obviously thinks he does: he WANTS to get wasted, because he's unhappy. He's openly admitted that many times. Besides, who wants to be accused of being an alcoholic, or told how much to drink on a night out? So, his ego was hurt by this perceived insult, and he decided, "I'll show her! I'm going to get absolutely trashed anyway." And he did. An alcoholic - or more specifically, a binge drinker like Travis - will use ANY excuse to get wasted. So even if he had been beginning to realize it was an issue, and he needed to slow down with his drinking, Hannah's words were all the excuse he needed that night. And from the looks of it, this kind of scenario is going to repeat itself many more times before he finally sees the light.

Yeah its hard to except, and I think most people get it into their heads that alcoholism, is drinking 24/7 and physically needing to drink. It's almost better to think of it as an allergy that your brain has. When Travis drinks, his min doesn't react to it well at all, and he can't stop the compulsion to keep pushing.

Ben is right. Getting black out drunk around boats and water is asking to die. My old boyfriend's high school friend died falling off a highway bridge while relieving himself. He stumbled and fell into the water. And those guests talking about Ben being "meat." If that was a female yacht employee being objectified that way by men the comments would be on fire. Just because they are female doesn't make it less offensive. Ben played it off graciously, but women don't tolerate it anymore, why should he? Remember the JLo movie line in, Maid in Manhattan? "To serve takes dignity and intelligence, but remember, they are ONLY people with money - know that we only 'serve' them- we are NOT their 'SERVANTS'." Stay safe! 🛥️

I'm a recovering alcoholic too, and I can see all the patterns all too well. He's even admitted to the camera that he drinks because he's unhappy, and getting drunk is easier than dealing with the problems, or the pain. I think that he denies he's an alcoholic because (1) he truly WANTS to drink, so he believes he's in control of it, and (2) he doesn't have to drink every night (as far as we know, anyway) or 24/7. He's more a binge drinker than a chronic alcoholic, but being a binge drinker makes it easier for him to believe he's in control of it. Therefore, by definition, it's not a problem. It was slightly amusing watching him get wasted maybe the first time, but now, it's just getting to be embarrassing - and painful. I wonder what it's going to take for Travis to hit bottom.

Because he probably hadn't seen it yet at this point. He probably had no idea at the time how much of his sloppy drunkenness was being filmed, or aired. Plus, he probably doesn't remember most of it himself. But obviously, he must know the conversations they have about it on the boat when he's sober will be aired. I wonder if seeing himself on TV like this will cause him to want to make changes in his life, as it did with Joao after Season 3. I kind of doubt it, though. He may refuse to watch it, and as long as he hasn't seen it with his own eyes, then he can continue to deny everything.

To go out and have a good time is one thing but when it crosses over to making someone's night miserable or putting yourself or someone around you at risk or danger is never acceptable. When you know you're self medicating then its time to get help. If the people around you are telling you there is a problem, maybe you should take heed. It's okay to have fun but Safety is always first.

My friend Tyler was so wasted once when we got back onto his house boat he fell into the water from the sugar scoop, was unconscious, and he drifted under the boat and ended up in a hospital for 9 days in a coma from the oxygen loss. You can’t drink like that in general, let alone when you’re always on a boat

It's interesting that Travis used the word alcoholic but there is no footage of anyone else calling him that. Perhaps he is the one who feels he is but won't admit it? Having had friends who have abused alcohol and drugs and have had to face up to it, it is up to that person to hit their rock bottom before they are willing to change. I hope for his sake he wakes up to the fact that drinking till you are at the point of almost black out drunk is not good and is a sign of alcohol abuse.

This is what Anastasia needed to learn and take away from what exactly what Ben just said and she would still be chef and June would still be third stew. But Anastasia didn't take it upon herself to do what Ben just said and went crybabying to captain Sandy and ultimately got June fired.

I don't think Anastasia was a crybaby. She really tried to do it, and I'll admit, she started putting on an attitude that was really unattractive. (What is it about chefs and kitchens?) But she realized she couldn't pull off the job, and she was beginning to have anxiety attacks about it. If you've ever had a panic attack, you know it's no fun. If she'd continued on, she might have had a breakdown of some sort, or at least there would have been a big scene. Besides, when she went to Sandy and told her she could no longer be chef, she wasn't sure whether she'd still have a job as third stew or not. She could have been quitting and sending herself home, for all she knew. Besides, June was really NOT a good third stew. She forgot things, screwed things up, and she refused to listen to or reply on her radio. I felt bad for her the way she got let go - it was unfortunate it happened that way - but she really didn't fit in. The boat is back in balance with Ben on board as chef and Anastasia back in the stew department.

I didn't like him the first season I saw him, but he's really grown on me ever since. He is a "real" and intelligent person who isn't afraid to call it like he sees it. I don't think he's physically attractive at all (whenever a girl says he's "good-looking," I always think "Whaaa?"), and yet, his confidence and intelligence make him attractive. And I'm a sucker for a British accent. I'd go for him. He's got charisma! :-)
