Can we appreciate the fact that the S1H, and other similar cameras like the S5, are so good at recording compressed internal footage that Gerald and Jordan found almost no reason to record RAW externally. Amazing cameras to choose from nowadays.
@jonniecandito1813 жыл бұрын
I agree, but it is worth noting that the S5 has a more compressed codec though, being 150 mbps LongGOP. They're talking about the S1h which has 400 mbps All-I encoding.
@TheFraziers3 жыл бұрын
@@jonniecandito181 Yes, but there isn't a huge difference between LongGOP and ALL-I when it comes to quality based on some comparisons I've seen. ALL-I is mainly an improvement for editing performance.

@@TheFraziers Nah it's a big difference between 400mbps and 150mbps, plus raw you can actually get 12bit color which if you're trying to get the most bang out of your codec then it's good to me. but I've only used prores raw
@chickenpasta7359 Жыл бұрын
@@ceelothatmane9421 yeah you get all of that, but then you have to factor in HDD space, cost, bulk of extra gear such as lugging around an Atomos, SSDs, batteries, all this for what most clients would not ever notice or care for. I sold my Ninja V after getting an S5 because it’s a PITA to carry all this stuff for results people don’t care for. The only value I can see investing in any of this stuff for is very high level projects. And even then that money is better off being invested in lighting and other things so you don’t have to rely on RAW video

@@chickenpasta7359 it’s not much to carry an atomos with my s5 with a cage. I mean it really makes the camera easier to handle imo. Without it shooting for me is a drag. Everybody has different needs. I look at a monitor as essential. The recording features are just a bonus

If only ProRes RAW would be supported by Resolve. It'd make my C300 MkII like a brand new camera - I send all of my client work to a colorist and the 10-bit 4K 422 footage just can't keep up with BRAW.
