Great posting. I'm looking forward to discovering more about some of the swell that Brazil catches. Some of these breaks don't even seem to be swells as I recognize them. It's as if the ocean pulls water from the shore while folding in on itself. No real back to the wave. So much water pounding down. In a way I am glad I learned to surf in the 1970's. No jetski, flotation vests, just you, your knowledge, your skills, and ability vs mother nature. Knowing when to go and finding the takeoff spot was on you. Now almost any wave is rideable, by the brave. Cheers to all of the chargers !!
@yassirchediak Жыл бұрын
I agree with you, my first surfboard was in the early 80s, after watching so much surfing on Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro where I was born. We have 7367 km of coastline, that is.....there are a lot of waves. It's no coincidence that we have so many champions.
@johnspence9718 Жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy. I've been to Brazil. I was invited by three girls I met in San Diego, but I didn't have my board. It's a beautiful country with some world class breaks. Plus it is populated by some very kind people@@yassirchediak

From the sugar loaf mountain in Rio you can see this island. Another world class spot for sure.
@AndreUchoaUSA3 жыл бұрын
This island is located inside the Guanabara bay, on Niteroi city side. When you enter the bay, with the open sea on your back, you have Rio de Janeiro city on the left side, and Niteroi city on the right. Imagine the strength of the swell and the precise direction needed, for you to have such massive waives breaking inside a closed bay!! It's very, very rare; reason why this session was so special.
@felipechevrand38283 жыл бұрын
No. Actually the description you gave is more for the "Beast" slab, on the entrance of guanabara bay that has also fired this swell. This one is in an island in front of Itaipu beach in Niterói in the oceanside of the city, north of the bay entrance. Mother Island is a rare break because it needs SE swell and SW winds to get perfect wich is rare. We usually have more S and SW swells across the year and to get this this big is like once every 5 years. There are lots of videos being released about this most recent storm that brought some very gnarly waves in this two breaks, and lots of other rare waves.
