David Gates and Bread were definitely a big part of the soundtrack of the lives of those of us becoming "grown ups" in the 70's! And I think maybe the word you are looking for to describe the emotions some of their music evokes is "wistful" but also hopeful! I thoroughly enjoy watching your reaction videos and look forward to seeing more!

I played an early Pink Floyd song where Gilmour’s voice is in beautiful mode, and my 15yo niece & 14yo nephew mocked it & couldn’t figure out why he sounded like that. Please don't think I have gone off the deep end, but I get a little different feeling with this song. It is lovely, and there are definite romantic passages, but I always have the feeling of this as a memorial; kind of like spending every last moment with a loved one, until the end (or until "one by one the stars would all go out"). Thank you for reacting to this beautiful song. If you are looking for more Bread, "Everything I Own" is one of my favorites. David wrote it as a tribute to his father.

While Bread is most-well-known for their ballads, Bread could rock out. I have the album "The Best of Bread" on vinyl and the first side is full of these beautiful ballads, side 2 has some more rockers. You should listen to "Mother Freedom" for their other sound. Also, the ballad "Everything I Own" was a song to his father who had passed away before writing the song. One of the sadder Bread Ballads is the song "Diary."
