I really wish focuses/parries still differentiated between high and low. The universal catch-all of recent games is far easier to utilize and doesn't require accurate reads, just that the opponent will attack. Meh. We've been watering the competition down over the years under the moronic notion that the FGC would grow exponentially from all the dumbing down. It's been well over a decade and those returns never came to fruition(as predicted) and the entire genre released more games than ever to a result of no-growth, even with an entire generation coming of age, to play(free growth, despite quality of the games). It's great that the superior-challenging games are still played by superior players. The lack of challenge just makes current games less amazing and less of a spectacle. I never cared about the pretty drawings and pictures on the screen as much as I care about the performance of play. Without these older games, there'd be nothing amazing, left, about the fighting game genre.

Both times he parried low once then high and it worked on both dp and crmk xx dp. But cr.mk xx dp wouldn't make sense the second time so maybe he was expecting dp the first time too? Or some option select I'm too brainlet to understand xd?

At one hp left, ken could have gone for crouch lk as well for exemple.... He had to make a choice anyway, and low parry covers srk, any low attempt, jab. The low eitheer parry the first hit of the shoryuken, then you parry the following hits, or it's a normal and you get time to react and see if it's cancelled into a shoryu, a tatsu, a target combo etc etc....

His mistake was not being a true flowchart ken. If he had just done straight up dp from the start rather than cr. mk x dp then he would have won.

I don't mean to downplay Natto's incredible clutch, but... I'm sorry but I still don't see how this isn't Matsuken's bad decision making. H shoryu was a flashy choice for chip damage there, a Hadou would've worked just as well and with the right blockstring it's not even punishable without a red parry. Honestly, he didn't needed the invuln there, why use the only option that will put you in severe disadvantage if it fails? OK, hindsight is 20/20, I'll admit that this isn't that damning. He has a huge life lead and he won't die from a parried DP. But then he did another one. Wakeup DP was indeed the best option in a vacuum, but once your opponent has shown to you that they have the parry timing of it down, is it really? What is the thought there, "I hope he misses this time"? If you were convinced he'd take the pressure in the air reset and you have health to take a throw, DP isn't the optimal choice at that point anymore. Natto didn't even risked that much by choosing parry there, parry isn't a high commitment action in SF3. And lastly, Yun's divekick is a known option that beats invincible reversals. Every single wakeup in that round Matsuken chose invincible reversal. At that point you can't convince me that the mindset of "good ol' rock, nothing beats that" took over. Again, it was hype, Natto displayed crazy clutch skills, but I can't see three bad "reads" in a row as anything but poor decision making.

@@dnevinski6409 I do, it's nothing unusual for a SF3 round frankly. The ability to make good decisions on the spot is one of the things that separate a pro player from a regular one. I'm just saying: even pros make mistakes sometimes, and pointing them out isn't intended to say that they aren't good because of that or to diminish the other's victory.

well if he parried a DP he lost because DP is max 3 hits and he did cr mk each time so without the low parry prediction he lost. He got super lucky a delayed cr mk/dp hits and you lose.
