Good video. I had been wanting to update the firmware on my W650 for a while. Tried to update to 1.021_1101_F037 last night and it started and looked to be doing well then crashed and totally bricked the unit. It's hosed now, and I just purchased a W670. Guess it was time for an upgrade, lol.

@Connected Fishing Yes the update helped. It works 80% of the time now. It’s either the stereo itself or the cables. It’s very picky about what cable I use. Hoping to upgrade to a wireless CarPlay unit soon but damn they’re expensive.

Cables have a lot to do with it. Bought a new cable from Walmart and it wouldn't read my phone. Took a nice type c cable from my dad's truck and worked right away

Hey guys so I’m having issues with my ILX-W650, wonder if I can get some input. Bought mine almost a year ago, set it up myself and everything was perfect. I just upgraded to the new iPhone 13 Pro Max and I’m having issue with the Apple Music app, as in it crashes when I go to play music. I’m coming from an 11 Pro Max which was hasn’t been update with the iOS 15 but has worked flawlessly. I haven’t tried updating the firmware just yet but I figure someone might be having the same problems as I am and we could figure it out. Thanks again!

I know this thread is a bit old, but I have this stereo myself and I just bought it new a little over a year, but was never aware of updates for it like this, but for the most part my stereo works great, but lately my android auto has started crashing alot, and I have to plug and unplug my phone to get it working again. Would this update help it? Mine says it's on f037 firmware.

It might help, but just be careful. I tried to update my firmware last night and it bricked the unit. Now I have to get a new head unit. Make sure the engine is running while you update the firmware so you don't have any power interruptions.

That has me scared to even try it now. It wasn't a very cheap radio either when I bought it. I think I paid a little over $300 for it. I have a pretty nice speaker and amp system running from it too. It would suck to be without it.

@@justingalasso1850 Yeah, I paid $330 for mine 2 years ago. I wish I hadn't tried the firmware update last night as it had been working just fine. I would just leave yours as is and deal with having to plug and unplug the phone as needed.

I installed today, main screen works like let's me bluetooth, and mess with sounds and radio. When I turn my lights on it switches the screen black with colored cones???. Music still plays and can change on my phone but can't do anything on screen. Do I have a wire mis hap????

I notice that on the Australian support page, they're hosting version 1.011_1116 (January 2022) for Australian models only. No idea why it's a different version (except we don't have Sirius satellite radio).

If Pandora app is not working with Android is it possible that you need to do a firmware update? Pandora did several updates months ago and when they did these updates it screwed up pandora. So I'm wondering if it's a firmware issue that the stereo needs.
