In this clip of "Breakfast at Tiffany's, Paul and Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) try things that the other person hasn't done before.
Little Factoid: It may be obvious to some, but ever wonder how they came up with the title of the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's? Well, this is the scene where the whole movie title is based from since they spend their "breakfast" time at Tiffany's.
Now why is Tiffany's so important? Is it superficial reasons? I believe the meaning behind Tiffany's is more symbolic than just Holly oogling over diamond and expensive pieces of jewelry.
Tiffany's is the place that Holly goes to, to feel safe, whenever she has the "mean reds". The mean reds is when you are are unhappy or sad and you don't know why which i believe plays the part in her identity crisis. Tiffany's is a symbol of a sense of establishment, safety, a sense of knowing who she is that Holly has been trying to find for so long. But she never truly finds herself at Tiffany's.
Paul ends up giving her a ring at the end of the movie. The ring was engraved by Tiffany's. Up to this point (at the very end of the movie), Holly has been running away from Paul because she cannot face who she is. When Holly is given the ring by Paul, she studies the ring and finally realizes what Paul said was true - she's just running away like all the other times. The act of finding herself is further symbolized when she puts on the ring with the letters H.G. inscribed on the ring. These are her initials.

I know Audrey gets all the attention for this movie but can't we just stop to appreciate how gorgeous George Peppard was in this movie as well? Those blue eyes and that sandy blonde hair. A lot of the men back then that were praised for their looks were the tall, dark, and handsome types---and a lot of those men were the kinds of men that Audrey was paired with in her films---so George certainly stands out amongst these guys. Audrey looks great with a blonde on her arm, lol.

kirch The one of the many differences here is that I’m not calling for all non-white non-blonde haired blue eyed people to murdered and tortured. I simply pointed out that Audrey looks good paired in contrast to blonde blue eyed actor. So you’re ‘hilarious’ little comparison between me and a psychopathic mass murderer is pretty weak at best.

Can we please acknowledge the music at 1:17 right after Audrey says “Tiffany’s”. Like how can you just throw that melody in a movie scene. It’s beautiful, just another example of how Henry Mancini was a perfect conductor for this movie and a musical legend. It also makes this scene all the more special and wondrous. The big reveal of Tiffany’s is complemented by the lovely strings and just makes me feel extraordinary.

A lot of ppl in the comments are talking about how patient and kind the salesman at Tiffany’s is - but I see it as this: Would you have a good image of Tiffany’s if the salesman had been rude and snobbish? - this movie was of course also good for the reputation of Tiffany’s

That’s amazing. I purchased a recliner a few years ago from an old school furniture store. I got a call from the salesman a few days later telling me he made an error and the color I wanted would have to be built and shipped - from Norway. He offered me a loaner recliner of the same style, only a different color. I had it for three months and fell in love with the color. Best retailer experience I ever had.
