If Alonso dislikes something and Matt likes it = usually the best movies possible. Him liking charlie's angels kind of convinces me to not watch it.

I disagree with Alonso about there not being more. Without spoiling anything, I think that the house was "played with" a perfect amount. Any more and I think it would have verged on gimmicky. And with the utilization of the cast, sure I would have liked to have seen these great actors get more to do, but if you think about it, they all do each get at least one great moment to shine and sink their teeth into. And each of them plays off each other perfectly. The best proof I have is that each character is so memorable. A lot of them have two or three great moments that I can immediately think of and point to as amazing character bits. If they were more involved it might have messed with the pacing, which is so important with this kind of film, or it might have ended up being a 2 and a half hour movie.
@histubeness4 жыл бұрын
I agree. One of the problems with Alonso's point that he felt some characters don't get as much screen time as others, is that you can't portion out equal screen time for every character, and still have a movie that's 2 hrs. and 10 minutes long, and no longer. The movie goes on just long enough, without being too long. To keep that same length, you'd have cut out screen/performance time that's there for other characters already. I thought Knives Out was pretty much weighted out as perfectly as possible, to work as well as it did.

I absolutely loved Knives Out; it’s not only one of the best films from last year- it’s one of the better films we’ve had in the genre. Rian Johnson has delivered yet again- showing how he can achieve great original films just as phenomenally as he achieves great films in pre-established franchises [such as Star Wars with The Last Jedi]. 🤗 I’m eagerly anticipating the sequel! Cheers! 🍻

After seeing the film I agree with Alonso. The film is just Ok. I read Agatha Christie novels and hard for me to believe that people comparing this film to classic Christie have actually read classic Christie novels. The film also FEELS long. I agree that you should keep your expectations modest.

Coming back to this review after glass onion. strange how people will focus on things and let it impact a review… e.g. great cast where its seen as a negative because they don’t have more to do… i.e you mean the role they read for… The fact good characters are in that fashion is exactly why you need good actors, get the most out of those roles as possible so that people are invested and can believe at any point any of them could have been responsible.. the fact the story focuses on only a few players is to move along the story and keep us focus the essential.

I was really turned off by the trailer because 1. the setting and the vibe is so decandant and gaudy and tasteless 2. smarmy Chris Evans disgusts me 3. silly Daniel Craig with a strange way of speaking is a dastardly mistake, it tarnishes his legacy as Bond, and as Michael Blomkvist in Dragon Tattoo (also with Christopher Plummer) I'd rather stay home and watch Plummer in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country for the 20th time than pay $14 and ride the bus for two hours total to see this aesthetic abomination May I say once more Christy that you were really on your game the day you recorded these reviews, such lucid prose and advanced composition!
@PrincipiaDeCinema4 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate very forceful and negative reviews of films by people who haven't seen them. Especially when they include such brilliant observations as Chris Evans shouldn't play the type of characters he specialized in playing before being cast in Captain America, and Daniel Craig should never play anything too dissimilar to James Bond, because that ruins Bond somehow. Also, where the fuck do you live where you have to take a two hour bus ride to see a movie? (I assume this is there and back.) If you live in an urban area, with actual public transportation, there is NO WAY a movie theater is an hour bus ride away. If you live in a rural area, why are you taking a bus in the first place, and where the fuck does a movie cost $14 dollars in a rural area or suburban area? Even in major cities on the coasts, most movies cost less than $14 dollars, unless they are in IMAX or some shit. Anyway, I give this comment 1.6, mostly because it is grammatically correct. Edit: I see from your channel you might be Canadian, which might explain the $14 and two hour bus drive. Sorry, I assumed you were American due to the stupidity of your opinions.
