The second caller actually sounded like a female, which could explain why the son is extra curious about the relationship, this type relationship may be foreign to him ( I could be wrong, but that's my hunch)..... and also, living with someone, and building a relationship are two different things. Instead of thinking the kid is weird, how about actively building a relationship with him to help the transition be more smooth. You moved in his space, took up time he would usually have with his mother, 4 months is not enough in my opinion.

It doesn’t sound like trauma. Just a life change that he needs to adjust to. My advice to him would be to build a closer relationship with her son, so he could feel comfortable. The only problem sounds like the mother is an enabler and further down the relationship even if he has a close relationship with her son, the enabling could still be a problem from the mother’s behalf. I don’t think that is healthy for any child to be enabled.

Caller #2 is exhibiting immature male behavior (not grown man). That young man’s life has changed from it being just he and his mom for likely most of his life, to all three of y’all. That’s a huge adjustment that he didn’t ask for, or expect. His mom is not the root of the problem, the new man is. If you want things to change, adjust expectations and change behavior. Build a relationship with that young man and establish trust throughout the household. We need to cancel this segment! It’s a kid thing. My wife(girlfriend back then) had a 10 year old son who would do little things to make us argue and knock on the door while we busy in the bedroom. After a year or two he grew to respect me and love me. Kid has had my back more than once against his mother. It takes time but just be your true version and they will come around
