If you live in a hot and cold climate, you’re going to want to put insulation around that vent fan pipe. It will condensate if you don’t.

Looks really good, and your attention to detail (for example regarding the screen to prevent bugs entering via the ridge vent) is commendable. Looking forward to the next segment.

Thanks so much! The goal is produce the best product possible and having an infestation of bees might not make it that way 😂

Looks good. It gets confusing with the paper facing. If you use it; it goes towards the warm side which you did. So the ceiling was unfaced and you added poly as the “vapor barrier”. Any concerns with warm air sneaking up and hitting colder plastic and condensing then molding since no drying potential? Only asking as I’ll be doing this job soon on mine and wondering if I need paper faced in the ceiling. Love the series so far!

Thanks! Yeah, so in the past i had used paper on the ceiling also, but then you have unfaced and faced doong multiple layers with the second layer. I tried recording the plastic vapor barrier on the roof but the clip was messed up. No I don't have any concerns. This seems to be best practice from what i see, its funny though sometimes i work on old houses and they have no vapor barrier, or air seals and theyre still holding up ok, granted they have major heat loss 😂

Love the videos! Did you double the ceiling insulation for your r value? I’m doing a kitchen on my house and my r value for ceiling is 60. If I double 2 r30s will that work?

Thanks! Yes, I think minimum up here is like 38, but yes any amount can be added up to get the higher number.
