I don't think Skylar is like upset/grossed out that Ted was handsy with her or whatever, because why else would she have kept a photo of them together, if he did something to her that was completely out of left field. Of couse though, she would tell everyone that there was no spark between them. She would never admit to something like that.

@@samuelchallis3420 It's possible. It really could be a wide window of things between "Ted made passes, she didn't hate it but did reject him because she was loyal to her marriage" to even an affair. I tend toward the former because Skyler has been more tightly wound up until now and the show is making a clear point she's at a turning point here. But you're definitely right the photo, and the way she behaves throughout their interactions here, shows she isn't creeped out by him or anything.

I read a book by a journalist named Ioan Grillo about the Narco gangs in Mexico where he mentioned the tortuga scene. He though that was over the top then when he started covering the Drug War in Mexico he saw how the Narcos would use car bombs against each other and the police. So a turtle IED isn't too far fetched especially given how they use cadavers to send each other messages. Also the opening was a narco corrido, some gangsters would commission bands to write ballads about them and some would even have music videos made.

That’s the neat thing about Hank: like Jesse, he’s actually very intelligent. It just doesn’t show often because his area of expertise isn’t academic, and because we got an initial impression of a dude-bro in the pilot, a well-meaning douchey hardass. But when his intuition zeroes in on danger, he shifts into hardboiled detective mode and actually does great police work.

Watching this again with you two gives me a lot more sympathy for Skylar, and a lot less for Walt. There's an interesting theme in this show about how people approach a life of crime. There's the career criminals who were likely born into it. With some exceptions, they acknowledge territorial boundaries. They're cautious. Then there's people like Walt, who willingly enter the scene. They fail to see their buyers and competitors as people, and have no respect for them. And if their ambitions are as high as Walt's, every competitor immediately becomes an obstacle.

I gotta speak in defense of Krysten Ritter here "always playing the same character" (possibly a comment from previous video). She definitely brings an "alt vibe" but within that zone she's covered a good spectrum. I think of her 4 biggest roles as _Veronica Mars_ (debatable but precious in my heart), _Breaking Bad,_ _Don't Trust the Bitch in Apt. 23,_ and _Jessica Jones._ Gia was sort of a high energy friendly ditzy reasonably cool kid, Jane is a lower key free spirit type with a dark past yet still innocence, Chloe is an absolute maniac, and Jessica Jones is a reluctantly heroic relentless misanthrope. Each their own form of oddball haha.

The teacher doesn't "have to accept that most of them will not be doing chemistry". It's the government and school curriculum that has to accept that. The teacher's job is to teach chemistry, whether the students can hang or not. That kid was a total lame who could've done a better job if he'd actually cared to - and that's the point of school in the first place. Most kids won't grow up to be doing algebra or writing essays either, but expanding their minds and teaching them self-discipline, to do things they don't want to do in pursuit of a bigger goal, a higher purpose, a greater good, that's the point of learning chemistry in highschool, along with everything else. You definitely wouldn't have the USA and all of the comforts it offers its citizens, like cell phones, the internet, food everywhere, electricity, running water, etc... if we just let kids do whatever because "it's too hard for them to learn hard stuff they won't use". The USA would be just another 2nd or 3rd world country if we didn't expect more, and the states with cities that are decaying like San Francisco, businesses fleeing, office buildings emptying, is a product of a "we're being too hard on everyone" ideology. #HumansAreAnimals and if you do not hold them to a higher standard then they will resort to living in the streets strung out on fentanyl, stealing from stores for a quick come up. Tolerance and being soft is how you destroy the kind of society that kids need to thrive, the kind of society we had growing up, that so many of us now take for granted - like everyone's just going to be good and honest magically.

The term Latino is technically cultural, but is largely used as a euphemism for race in the US, since the vast majority of Latinos in the US are Latin Americans with mestizo heritage. In context it's both racially and culturally loaded. That said, I do think it's fine overall to make such jokes in the right context. Racist (or culturist, or whatever) jokes with close friends who are the butt of the joke are pretty normal and even healthy for most people (at least when there's both give and take, and a mutual understanding that it's all in fun). It's probably not a thing you ought do in the company of people you don't know (not that I speak from experience or anything, fuсking Albanians something something Belushi (but at least they aren't gоddаmn Serbs)).
