@@kuceracm You guys dont remeber the look on his parents face?? It seems like they dealt with a screw up junkie with no regard for them. I kept thinking about why bad stuff was happening, and I finally realized that just because shitty things happen, doesn't mean you can sacrifice your principles or be a worse person. The world isn't good or bad depending on how you behave, it just is the way it is. You have to decide what your principles are, etch them in stone, and stick to them no matter what life hands you.

@AnZaI for many relationships, yes it is. Walter was pushing so many boundaries by not giving her any time at all to adjust to the bomb of him being a damn drug lord. He didn't give skyler any time, forced himself to be allowed to move back in, wasn't taking her advice and spending recklessly in ways that would get them so easily and stupidly caught. This all even resulted in her own son taking his father's side over skyers despite her literally just trying to protect and keep the family together despite his antics. Her cheating on him isn't right but in her world where she had no control and no power, no way to really get back or hurt him the way he was her, I understand why she did it.

@@shukokato9320 Is Walt really "likeable"? I related to him, particularly in the first season, absolutely, and I could respect the badassery and genius (even though I always thought he talked way too much - once he found his voice he just did not learn how to shut up) of his actions, or feel torn up the way he did when he killed someone or watched someone die (unless it was an obvious "villain", and then it was, of course, epic); but by season 5, he was out of control, and with every episode I lost more empathy and respect for him until I was rooting for him to get arrested and tortured or something - him being able to just tap out and not have to face the consequences of any of his actions really upset me. But maybe that's the point of the story: there is no justice, and bad people get away with bad things all the time. Sucks to not be the bad person.

Jesse never gets credit for his intellect nor does he seek credit for it. Getting Saul as Badger's lawyer. The magnet truck, the methylamine heist, all born out of Jesse's ideas. There's many more instances. Revealing to Mike that he knows he won't kill the guy that stole Jesse's money, as he went through the trouble of blindfolding him. Luring a meth head out of a house, by pretending to dig for something. First suspecting that Walt poisoned Brock, then later realizing it was really him and that he got Huel to lift the ricin cigarette from him, as he did with his bag of weed.

Excellent take! I think it's worth noticing that all the children Jesse interacts with are boys. The kid in peekaboo, brock, Andrea's little brother, the boy on the bike, Jesse's own brother. Caring for a boy child has different connotations to protecting girls. Usually when a male character protects, or suffers after the loss of, a young girl it's more about showing the male character's masculinity, father instincts, or the girl representa women or daughters in the man's own life. But Jesse is always trying to protect little boys from the horrors of the world. It's as if they all represent Jesse himself. They are all the little boy inside Jesse himself who wants to be protected, who wants someone to care about his wellbeing.

Of all the supporting players, I always preferred Mike. He wasn't a despicable person. Sure, he was a crim. He killed. He aided in the promotion of criminal enterprises that caused immense suffering. But to him, it was just a job. And he always seemed like he'd rather be doing something else - something decent. Not a "bad man". Not nearly as fucked up as Walt. Just another guy who got dealt a bad hand and tried to make the best of it. He died well.

It's a project by photographer Mark Laita in "exposing" the criminal underworld/america's neglected through empathetic interviews of hookers, pimps, drug addicts and the alike. By watching these interviews, I've garnered a respect for this world and the people who inhabit it, and the backgrounds of almost all of these people show they are just like you and me, and nothing in this world is merely black and white. Kind of a left turn, but highly recommend.

@UmbraJoy
@UmbraJoy 6 жыл бұрын
No what I meant is that both Walt and Flynn disown eachother in a sense. In the beginning Walt looked to Walt JR as his son and wanted him to love him and his son was being a prick. When he found out he could lose his father he wanted to openly love him and his father starting to feel estranged to him like him in the beginning of the series. As time goes on they’re back at where they were except the feeling of neglect and hate bloom into what it was secretly and that is hate for his father but this time for different reasons, in the beginning he kinda hated his father for how weak and easily push around he seemed to be which embarrassed him. In the end his feelings of hate grew to be that his father is a monster and someone who’ll kill anyone even his own family to get what he wants. Watch back and you’ll probably get what I mean by it at first he is embarrassed to the point of hatred for his father then when Walt quits his job and starts to form a bond with Jesse his son starts to love him as Walt slowly drifts from his family but looks for a moral high ground so he chooses to use his family to justify his acts and then manipulates in a sense himself and his family in order to feel like he is doing right and not wrong while he is losing himself to the world of drugs and becomes more close to Jesse in the process

Highly sensitive people are too often perceived as _weaklings or damaged goods._ To feel intensely is not a symptom of weakness, it is the trademark of those who are truly alive and compassionate. It is not the _empath_ who is broken, it is society that has become dysfunctional and emotionally disabled. There is no shame in expressing your authentic feelings. Those who are at times described as being a 'hot mess' or having 'too many issues' are the very fabric of what keeps the dream alive for a more caring, humane world. Never be ashamed to let your tears shine a light in this world. Many perceived *Walter* as being the "stronger" + more _dominant force_ - but in essence, Walter was nothing more than a cruel *predator* who lacked empathy, kindness, compassion and a warped moral compass, which in reality did not denote _strength_ but _weakness_ . _“All cruelty springs from weakness.”_ *― Seneca*

I don’t think I’ll ever get over how depressing Jesse Pinkman’s character development was. Although he started off selling drugs and was a junkie, he had absolutely so much to live for. In that episode where he tries finding a decent job for himself in season 1, I look back it and my heart breaks at the fact that he could have had a totally different life than the one he was given. Walt absolutely ruined his life. In El Camino, he eventually did get a good ending, but honestly it still hurt to see that he has to escape so much of his past life all because of Walt. And he still had to live with he fact that he’s killed someone and all the other losses and pain he’s had to deal with. If Walt simply never asked him to work with him, Jesse would have been much better off if he sought after the right help. Seeing his go-lucky attitude, childlike personality, and joy starting in season 1 change to an absolutely miserable, depressed, and heartbreaking character (which is an absolute understatement) will always be so painful to see and remember.

Bill The Bull Gates he was forced to bite off more than he could chew because Walter was so damn egotistic and sure he was absolutely right in every way. Basically every major problem they get in is because of Walt's passion for riches and success. Getting involved with Tuco was Walt's idea and Jesse warned against it. Same with Gus. And if they'd avoided those guys they'd barely have any enemies

People seem to rip on El Camino for being an unnecessary add-on to the Breaking Bad story. But after all the hell and trauma Jesse went through, he deserved a happy ending and a chance to start fresh.

Jesse is quite possibly one of the best characters ever written. He's not a good person, per se; he kills, robs, and deals drugs. But underneath all of that is a sympathetic person. A kind, genuinely caring person who doesn't really want to hurt anyone and is only in "the business" because he has no other options. He's sweet, takes the rap for his brother's weed, saves a kid from a terrible home, and has emotions like you and I. Aaron Paul put his soul into this role, and it truly shows. His genuine, gut-wrenching reactions to things like Drew Sharp or Andrea being murdered or the death of Jane shows how dedicated Aaron was to the role, and just how good of an actor he is. He deserved all of the awards he's won and then some.

When I first saw the end of the show I realised that it was Jessie's story all along, not Walt's. For me, he's the most interesting character in the entire thing. He's a sensitive, creative and at heart, innocent character, but his strengths are also his flaws. He's plagued with addiction and is let down by everyone in his life. The only time he has people around him is when they want to use or manipulate him. Even his so called friends are only around when he has drugs. He's a person who is too pure and innocent for the world he lives in.

He was always the one character (besides Walt Jr) who truly had a heart and he had a big heart, too. While I loved his dynamic with Walt in season one and felt bad for him because of how horrible his parents were in abandoning him, I think it’s really sad that Walt ended up becoming his main father figure when he was borderline abusive to Jesse, verbally and mentally. Especially when he allows his girlfriend to die, knowing what that would do to Jesse. Walt was awful to Jesse, he deserved better than Walt.

The reason i think Walter saved Jesse revolves more about storytelling and the arc. I think they wanted to give to Jesse, the martir, the final redemption: the life. In end of the day, ever since shakespeare, the bad guys can't live in the end, maybe because of some ethereal justice sense in the world. In a sense, i think it's impossible to Walter be alive after all the sins he commited in front of the audience.

The literary genre which requires the good to prevail over the evil is called melodrama; Shakespeare often wrote for other genres in which the 'good guys' don't win. Please don't reduce a writer you clearly don't know about for the sake of sounding smart. However, I do agree that Jesse had to live, otherwise the message of the show would be lost in a cynical ending.

Maybe death can be seen as the ultimate punishment. It's really subjetive (i mean, i don't see death as something totally natural), but on narrative-wise, the character who does not exist just got the worst destiny of all. Really overthinking there, but... (:
@CODA96

+C. Kim Actually, Walt had the best outcome. He truly lived throughout his entire Drug Career. Sure he lost his family, kinda, but he never received any punishment. Drugging a child, letting Jessies Girlfriend die, being responsible for the Death of the 200+ People in the Airplane: Walt killed 10x as much people as every other Madman combined. And yet, he never spend a day in Prison. He just... Died. Dying cant be a punishment. Its just... Nothing, he is gone. Dark, forever. Its no punishment. Yet Jesse was punished over and over throughout the entire show. The reason Walter died in the end, was to achieve a bittersweet ending. Even if he would still be alive (Which is rumored) he would just be in Prison.

Loved it. Walt is very much the devil, tempting everyone with knowledge or material things. Jesse valued the intangible, did the right thing even when no one was looking. He provided for his followers/friends. Like Jesus, he was chosen and didn't really have a say for what would happen in his life.

In all honesty, Walt treated Jesse more like a pet than a son. Walt clearly cared about Jesse, and was desperate to keep him around, but he only kept him around for his ability to be submissive and do his bidding. That’s why the biggest fights between Walt and Jesse are when Jesse doesn’t follow orders from his “owner.”
