@@MALITH666 walt never really felt respected or fulfilled in his life before, sure hank cared about him, but didn't have a respect for him. Walt did what he was good at, what he loved, and most importantly what he wanted to do. Yeah he wasn't moral in the slightest, but he did go out on his terms rather than slowly dying of cancer, he left a legacy where nobody will remember him fondly, but he guaranteed he would be remembered and respected, like it or not, he will be immortalized for what he did and because of that i'd say in the end, he won. After all the script for the final episode did say "We look straight down on Walt as he tumbles into frame, lying flat on his back on the floor. His eyes stare up at us, lifeless. And yet his final expression is one of faint satisfaction. We slowly crane up, up, and away from him. Walt shrinks smaller and smaller in frame. Police officers approach him now -- four, six, eight of them. They move in cautiously, their guns aimed. They're too late. He got away."

@@Liam-yu7lm Walt - and everybody else in the room - thought his days were very much numbered and that his cancer was aggressive. However, now that the cancer has gone into remission and the tumour has largely reduced, Walt’s lease on life is ‘renewed’ - that is, he’s been pulled back in when he thought he was out!
@samchandler77472 жыл бұрын
@@Liam-yu7lm it's pretty subtle, but my take is that unknowingly Hank summed up Walt's psyche. Cancer was his way out - not just from his crimes and guilt, but also from the kind of living death he'd been living for 50 years - fear, resentment, regret, a complete lack of control. The cancer diagnosis gave Walt a new lease on life - it gave him license to take risks and do bad things he never would have had the stones to do before. So the "they pull me back in" line references Walt's fear of returning to the pre-cancer living death of his life. He WANTS to be terminal, he needs to be on death's door to justify cooking meth to himself (which, of course, he really does because he genuinely LOVES doing it) That's why Walt beat the ever living crap out of the hand dryer in the next scene (and why he nearly drives into oncoming traffic that one time) - he's furious that he isn't dying anymore, because his good health represents a return to normal life - a life that he hated and wanted to end by any means, even if he has to burn everything else down to do it.
