I genuinely think the fact that Gronk is a ridiculously good blocking tight end is a big part of why Tom Brady is still playing at 43. I say it because I was researching the longevity of positions and tight ends who block are a different species than tight ends who receive. Blocking tight ends only generally last 10 years where receiving tight ends generally last 15 years. Blocking punishes players' bodies. But blocking WELL spares the quarterback's body.
@RichardBirdsall

@@wishingb5859 that is something that never would have crossed my mind, but it makes total sense as to why they work so well together. @@RichardBirdsall I have been seriously enjoying reading the lifespan of each position. Mahomes has about 3 years left with his speed before a whole bunch of 22-year-olds are going to be sacking him 30 yards back while he is running away. If he ages like the fast running positions normally do and yet, the media keeps calling him the GOAT. But he will have to develop skillsets that Tom Brady started working on back in Michigan and Tom worked on them because he wasn't fast. Tom said that he wants to work on being quicker next season and what I will say is that is harder to do because speed tends to correlate with age. But Tom has been developing skills that age so well and Mahomes hasn't had to yet.

Yes but every teams does those things, Chiefs only got the rep and the refs took on them all the flags that should have been called all year long. The holding call on the INT was a flat out joke of a call for example. If the refs think that was really holding then they should call at least 10 of those penalties during the game to be consistent. And I say that as a neutral fan, biased refs but the Bucs completely outcoached and outperform the Chiefs, no excuses for the defeat though.

As much as I agree that it's like having another OL out there, don't you think its still more of the package that separates him? You can find some fault with most position players but Gronk has none.

@@connorberglund7032 That's an interesting stat ... but Gronk has 7 seasons at a 90.0+ PFF to 1 for Kelce. www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/ld7020/pff_seasons_with_a_90_pff_grade_rob_gronkowski_7/ Look, my point is not to detract from Kelce ... he's a great TE. But when you try to compare Kelce as a blocking end to Gronk, even PFF acknowledges that Kelce's damage is done through the air. It just means that Gronk creates more options for an offense than Kelce can ... he can contribute on every play in a way that would be more of a challenge for Kelce. He's still one of the best on the game.

"Wingspan" and overall athleticism. Shoelace catches and one-handed lay-outs. Softest hands and tracks and adjusts for a pass like no other. Cross between a Ballerina and a TE. Remember his big catch against the Rams in SB LIII where he somehow dove sideways bracketed by two defenders and caught the ball on the 2 - 3 yard line nearly parallel to the field. The fade left end zone against the Packers first game Gronk was playing with a dislocated right shoulder, pirouettes in the air and catches it between his left arm and body. He gets up with the ball with everyone expecting the "Gronk Spike"...Gronk hesitates, realizing that he can't lift his right arm and that a Left-handed Spike would look lame, so he just walks off the field. I was surprised that neither commentator knew or commented on Gronk playing hurt. Gronk and BA likely downplayed it during the week.

Absolutely, I said after the game that if the Chiefs had a guy like Kittle instead if Kelce, that single difference would have given them a chance in the game. And all the Kelce nut hangers called me an idiot. All Kelce did was rack up some garbage time stats after being down three TDs while Mahomes had to run around for his life on every play because he had no blocking. Imagine if a guy like Gronk or Kittle was playing on the end if the line and shutting down the pass rush. It would open up the run, it would force the Bucs to bring and extra man to get pressure which gives Hill a chance to get open, and it buys Mahomes more time to make clean throws... and later in the game you start sneaking the TE out behind the LBs and with a guy like Kittle, that can be a massive play.... but nah... lets just have Kelce run pointless routes while Mahomes is getting crushed.

well yes the tight end position is usually the biggest skill position on offense. jk i think him and mike evans are the most dangerous on the offense as they are both basically unstoppable. antonio brown's routes are also pretty much unstoppable too. the thing is, there's so many "first options" on that offense that there isn't any defense that could cover all of them. especially when the run game is going well. glad to see this season not go to waste with such a stacked roster for the bucs. especially lavonte david and mike evans who have been the most slept on players in the league due to being on a trash team. you love to see it

You can't double everyone. They have 4 receivers (if Gronk is running a route) that are a threat in man coverage - Evans, Godwin, AB, and Gronk.
