It’s pretty remarkable just how big a difference there was. It is not just that they changed OC, they did it in the middle of the week. I know it is only one game; but this definitely shakes things up in an already tight AFC North.

I wonder how much of that “lack of confidence” in other games was because his eyes and instincts were telling him to run one play, while his coach was telling him to run a different play, and as an unestablished QB, he didn’t have the confidence to over-ride the OC until the game was on the line, which would be why he ended up with a rating over 100 in the 4th quarter.

@@jeffeyjeffey8 , He didn't use to miss those throws. Kenny had a reputation as a very accurate thrower. A loss of confidence, along with happy feet can easily affect your accuracy, as well as acquired bad habits. Kenny threw with confidence in the Bengals game, and dropped in some perfect passes on long throws. His throws to Friermuth looked sharp, and the throw to Johnson that should have been a touchdown was a quality throw in a fairly tight window. If his confidence is back, he will also see the field better, make quicker, and better decisions. With the running game shaping up, and the line showing improvement in pass protection, hopefully we'll see Kenny Pickett as the talent I believe he has.

I was a Kenny Pickett fan all season, and I distill think he's our new franchise QB. He's shown the ability to win on the last drive. That's a rare commodity among NFL QB's.

Truly is a night and day difference man. The reason so many people have been so frustrated is because that offense is honestly loaded with talent at every position, even with a mid QB thet should have been good. The fact that none of them were ever that good really shows the problem was not the players

Playbook is the same, they changed the play calling and allowed Kenny to go deep

They were more aggressive with using the middle of the field. Also, the paly call sequence wasn't so predictable.

It is the same playbook, but they changed the formations vs run or pass, and ditched the jet sweeps and constant zone runs. They are throwing to TE's and over the middle. Coaches asked Kenny what plays he likes too. The run game is helping set up tthe passing game, as the Steelers have rushed for over 150 yards in four straight games.

Kurt, could you do a breakdown of what is creating these more effective reads and decision making in relation to how the offense changed with the replacement OC? I think a big question myself and others have it does Matt Canada's absence and new scheme play into Kenny's ability better and if so how?

I'm almost certain it's that Canada told him to never take a downfield option. the offense was risk averse to a fault.

As a Steelers fan, this was DEFINITELY an improvement, but i'm still a little skeptical how good we'll be. Remember, this was just ONE game and 400 yards or not, the endzone is the most important place to be and we just aren't scoring TDs when we should be.

Well the refs sold us out of a touchdown, and we were easily on our way to score one before the half, but we ran out of time. I'm not saying the bengals were outclassed, but they were 160% outclassed. People want to talk about how Browning had similar numbers, but 126 of his yards were yac. Not to mention that he nearly threw 3 picks. While I do agree that we have to continue to prove the offense, there are currently probably 5 teams that could realistically outclass us. Niners, Cheifs, Cowboys, Eagles, and Texans.

I know the points weren't exactly there (technically 23-10), but this offense has spirit and is hungry. I am really hoping for some crazy performance on Sunday, but I know I'll disappoint myself. The biggest takeaway from this video is that Kurt Warner, a 2x mvp, hof qb, and superbowl mvp, is saying how good Kenny is. If that doesn't tell you that he's special, nothing will.

By far the most important thing is reading the field, and that's what Kenny does so well. That's why he has so few ints too. All these qbs that come out of college running and athletic often don't see the field very well, so they throw into coverage and make big mistakes. That's why this is a big deal.

I’m really glad that the Steelers finally have an offense that’s showing signs of life. However, the Steelers must win against the next opponent; the Cardinals. So many times the Steelers have ‘played down’ to the lesser performing teams and end up losers. Very noticeable improvements on offense (finally), but each week will expose who we are and what we can do Everytime. Defense has been the only consistent element these far. That said, great game, great rhythm in offense, killer defense. Get some, Steelers!

The team did show great progress in a short amount of time. But the part we have to pray for is the few players the Steelers have that are a form of diva like. Not only did Kenny ball out everyone’s energy transferred to a winning mentality (besides DJ jp) Haven’t seen Najee run the way he did in a while. With the power runs and less motions and more 3 te sets I think this team has a huge chance to make a playoff run. I’ve always had faith in KP8 but they gonna hate bc he’s not Big boy Ben. He shows promise let him develop with an OC who cares about winning and communicating with the team.

Well keep in mind, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I loved Kenny when he first came into the league. I defended him for a long time. But he continually throws the 5 yard pass to the side instead waiting for receivers down the field (possibly 20 yards down the field) to get open. Sometimes they are open and he already threw the ball 🏈 either 5 yards to the side or he throws a stupid sideways pass for no gain. You can't score going sideways. That's why they can't score in the RedZone! They panic either with the sideways pass or some stupid predictable play call that the Steelers are known for. They are still too predictable. Plus remember yes even though without Matt Canada they got 400 yards but they still only scored 16 points. I don't care about the yards. I only care about the points and wins. Yes they won but they only scored 16 points. Not all that impressive. Plus they need to quit throwing to Deonte Johnson when the game is on the line. He's terrible. He's a joke artist! The Steelers have alot of weapons on Offense. They don't need to throw to 'Deonte drops-alot Johnson'! Plus if it wasn't for their amazing defense they wouldn't win hardly ever. So you think 🤔 you're good at breaking down games and players like Kenny. All I can say is only 16 points. Not that great!
