Thanks John for this video. I have been looking at all of them lately and finally hit the one I was looking for. I have been regimented all my career and now that I am retired - am stepping out doing different things. I am 65 and some of the terminology used at events, or in travel brochures have had me stymied in what to wear and what to bring. For instance - my wife and I like to cruise now. Smart Casual is the term we hear the most. Well at first I was wearing suits - to formal. Then I switched to Sports Jackets with ties - odd looks. No one would define Smart Casual for me, except now. Got the blue blazer, medium brown brogues (still close to my oxfords in style - lol) chinos and dark jeans. Don't worry not a hole"y" type of guy. Thanks for all the info sessions - teaching an old dog new tricks - lol.

Great video. I'm very much a jeans guy. I've bought a couple of pairs of dark denim recently. I noticed some of the looks I got when I went out this past weekend. I wore them with a nice button down shirt and some nice brown shoes. I have also added some chinos to my wardrobe. I've turned a couple of my coworkers on to your channel and they are enjoying your videos and advice too. Thanks for all the great tips. Looking forward to more.

Very good video! This is one of your best that applies to me. I like that it covers what I would honestly wear in a professional services meeting, in the office with other large organization professionals, with many selective clients that I already know (existing relationships) and if I were meeting with direct reports. This is also how I would dress for a national or global sales meeting at a remote location. Good job!

Legend Another good video John. As an interesting observation I find that when you put a sport coat or Blazer on with almost the same remaining outfit it looks much less casual then say you in a sweater even a cardigan sweater. Just my opinion of course. With reference to your comment about jeans and smart casual I would tend to agree if we are talking about standard cotton denim. However, with fashion becoming more casual over the past few years there are a number of options that have denim mixed with other fabrics to make them lighter and "dressier". I also think that you may need to clarify a jean-style trouser (meaning five pocket pant) from a classic jean. For example, Kenneth Cole now makes a four-way stretch five pocket pant that I have seen in Black that reads almost like a pair of dress trousers. One with a gray sport coat would be indistinguishable unless someone looked at the pocket detail.

Thank you for the video. I have been sorting my trouser collection. I was measuring the inseam lengths to be sure they are the correct lengths for me. I have chinos in kaki, blue, stone and Nantucket reds. I have two sizes to handle my seasonal weight gains and weight reductions. I also have the wool odd trousers in two sizes. I have a few linen trousers which are in blue and stone color. I don't think you mentioned linen here. I kind of like them but in the Midwest, well they are certainly occasional. Sure, I have dark denim and white jeans in two sizes but only one of each size. With all of these options, do you think an older guy really needs to put on a pair of jeans anymore? "Up your game" perhaps could mean forget about denim?

Great video. Regarding chinos, any suggestions on brands that have lower rise? I’m 5’ 9” and wear a 37. So many chinos hit me at or above my belly button. I can’t wear a slim or trim cut and full cuts are too big. It’s a challenge for me. Maybe custom? Hope you have another meetup. I’ll be there!

Great video John, I have to say you look the best I've ever seen you look, wearing that Blazer, it is so tasteful. It doesn't look like you're trying to dress like you're 20 years old and I think a sophisticated woman would appreciate that over an untucked shirt. I guess it depends on the social situation. Like you I live in a warm climate and in the evening I typically wear the Swiss army knife of pants khakis, and a black or blue blazer with a pair of Gucci loafers and no socks. By the way I think the days of wearing a pair of jeans with a blazer in the evening are gone. I don't see anybody doing that anymore

For smart casual, I like to wear some of my warm-weather items that aren't appropriate for business casual: my linen/cotton shirts, my unstructured linen/wool sports jacket, espadrilles, no socks.... Alternatively, I also like wearing a kilt for smart casual. I can't wear kilts for work, so smart casual gives me a good excuse.

The vast majority of men have NEVER had on a "sports jacket". I think you mean blazer, the two are not the same, no matter how many try and use them as the same. Love your channel, but you're here to educate. So please use the correct term, and maybe even do an video where you show and explain the difference. When I am out shopping and the sale person says sport jacket, instead of blazer, I think they're poor trained and educated in fashion terms. Just a thought for you
