Fallout New Vegas is one of my all time favourite games, and I'm so excited to present the game like this. I've planned my character build in depth with the goal of pushing the power of my build increasingly to its limit as time progresses. The plan is to complete all DLC, and pick up increasingly powerful items and perks that will help us throughout the game.

In that instant, you know one of 3 things is about to happen: 1, a dialogue check is about to be save-scummed (more difficult in New Vegas, but still possible by reloading an older save to use some consumable skill books); 2, something is getting pickpocketed/stolen; or 3, "so then I started blastin'."

41:19 the best part with this interaction is the other way to get it is very low Intelligence. The Courier just spouts out "Ice Cream", ostensibly because he thinks the robot looks like an ice cream cone. This works.

Theres something so wholesome about Dan taking all of these people who have finally been exposed to his favorite franchise and showing it off like a dad sharing his favorite passion with their child. 18:37 Fun fact, if you have at least one Stealth Boy, you can actually raid the Van Graffs for all that they have; turns out they can't detect you at all if you're crouching with one as long as you already had a half-decent sneak skill, even if you're in plain sight. Found this out completely randomly when I thought dragging everything to the bathroom first was taking too long. Also, I really love that as long as you have a Luck stat of above 8, you're virtually guaranteed to eventually bankrupt all of the Casinos by playing Blackjack...

Fun fact about the Repconn 3rd Floor access; there are actually two ways to be safe from the bots. If you have Luck above 7, you guess the code is Ice Cream and its correct, which is what we see here. The second way is if your Intelligence is a 1, your character will scream ICE CREAM!!!, which just so happens to be the code.

the funniest “play both factions” option in my opinion is to play lonesome road and nuke your chosen faction before entering the strip purely so you can get the cool armour set from whichever faction boss you fight in the ensuing dungeon, then reset your rep and act like it never happened

You can grab Skilled 3 times, once during character creation, second by respecing when leaving Goodsprings, and third by respecing when leaving Big MT in Old World Blues. That's 15 free skill points for *every single skill.*

yeah new vegas just kind of has that effect on people when they replay fallout 3 after previously playing new vegas, fallout 3 just kind of feels wrong and weird by comparison and then you get that itch to play new vegas again

@@skylofter6840 oh absolutely, fallout 4 has the best gunplay and power armor in the series without a doubt, and it's only tied with 76 due to 76 using the exact same systems, they also both have sprint which is nice, my issue with fallout 3 feeling worse is for a multitude of reasons, the story is less compelling, the choices feel more black and white, the lack of options and true rpg feel, the forced background for your character, the massive map that's mostly filled with empty space, and then there's the gunplay and perks, holy shit they suck, imagine if you couldn't use iron sights when holding right click and instead it just sort of zoomed in a little whenever you held it down, imagine if all your weapons and armor could break but instead of being able to repair them with less durable versions of themselves (10mm pistol with another 10mm pistol) or being able to repair a unique version of an item with only the basic variant, they could only be repaired by npcs who sell repairs for insane amounts of money instead of being able to just repair the item simply, also imagine if like 90% of the perks in the game just increased skill points, with only a few actually cool or unique ones, that's fallout 3, and i straight up cannot make it through that game because of how dated it feels

I always take skilled and good natured as traits. +10 to all non-combat is really useful. Then, you take explosives, sneak, and medicine, and you've basically got enough to pass most early game skill checks.

real talk though, could you imagine being Benny? Executing someone with a point-blank gunshot to the head and leaving them in a shallow grave, only for them to show up a couple weeks later, armored up and mad as hell? I don't care what your speech level is, if I'm Benny there's no way in hell I'd go into a room with you alone at that point, especially if all I had was a 9mm pistol.

you know RT, if you get an anti material rifle and explosive bullets to boot, you can one shot adult death claws. you just need to have the weapons requirements in stats, and the sneak attack bonus...... on top of a headshot.

Funny story about New Vegas: My brother years ago gave me a Collectors Edition box for New Vegas on the PS3, including art book, chips, playing cards, etc. The only thing missing was the game itself, as my brother played it a bunch but then traded it in to CEX. I never played a Fallout game but I always treasured the collector box I had, so one day when I was in CEX myself, I found a copy of New Vegas on PS3 for no more than £5 (iirc) and bought it, only so I could put the game in the collectors box to 'complete' it. I never even opened the game case for New Vegas and to this day have never touched or played a Fallout game 😂 (until literally yesterday when I got a free copy of Fallout 76 from Prime Gaming)

With deathclaws, it helps to open with a sneak attack on the legs to buy time as they limp toward you. Less effective on Hardcore as companions won't backpedal with you and their deaths are permanent, but still useful.

To this day I'll never know why people trying to quickly get from the start of the game to the north of the map don't take the Black Mountain shortcut. To those who don't know - past the first u-bend on the Black Mountain road, if you keep going north instead of following the road, there's a side path with a few bear traps and boulders that brings you just south of REPCONN HQ. Besides those traps, and a few Super Mutants who may or may not be there but only really shoot you a little, it's an extremely safe way to get to Vegas, you bypass all the Cazadores and Deathclaws. I've done this on runs where I immediately drop all of my items and run to each of the DLC locations with absolutely nothing in my inventory and as little EXP as possible, it's very reliable.
