Breaking-in a Sea Doo GTX-230. Hitting 64MPH!

I have the exact same model. Sport mode gives better throttle response. trim up, low gas, you may see faster speeds. Seems to always be a solid 64 mph machine with gear up front and 9 additional gallons on the back. I know many want and seem to need the 300 but this works so well too.

i have 2022 wake pro 230 just started the break in yesterday. how do switch the miles to hours? mines reads 12.2 miles right now instead of hours.

Hey there! You should have "settings mode." Not sure how your settings are set up on a wake pro. Should be simple though.

I have a 2020 GTX 230 - I can go 65mph sometimes 66mph with very little gas in the tank. That includes me riding with a PWC Super Rack on back along with 2-5gal Sure cans full of gas! Only have JP Racing Oil Catch Can installed! Enjoy they are great skis - not every needs 300HP ;)

Thanks! When I hit 64mph. I did not even pin the throttle. So thinking I can hit 70ish.

@@TheOceansideGuy the 230 will not do 70MPH. You’ll be lucky if you get 67…but on average expect anywhere between 64 and 66. Still plenty quick on a Sea Doo to be sure!

@@chrise.400false information son. My 230 is tuned and I hit 73, sometimes 74-75 depending on gas in tank and water conditions. 🎉

@@GODSWORD11 well you kinda just proved my point - I am not talking about a TUNED 230, I am referring to one that is stock, and especially the GTR 230 as the hull is Polytec and inherently limiting as far as speed due to drag coefficient of the materials. The GTX has an ST3 hill which is fibreglass and this might be able to achieve higher top speeds out of the box.

Looks like you need to align the jet. Mine was the same way when I took delivery in October last year.

@WhiskeyTangoFoxtrotSixNiner when you are going straight the handle bars are turned to the left slightly. If uou adjust the alignment of the jet you can get that straight so you don't have to turn the bars to keep it straight. Mine have the same issue my first time out, it was alot worse then yours looks though.

I just got my 2023 GTX 230 the other day. My top speed is like 52 right now. How many hours did you break it in?

10 hours is the break-in period where the ECU will slightly increase with each hour that passes until you hit 10 hours then its able to fully open up to go approx 65mph - 52mph something isn't right unless you are in ECO mode that will limit top speed.

@@Dr_Flankensteinn Eco Mode for me tops out at 35mph. But again maybe since it’s brand new and it was my first time on the water with it. If it continues I’ll have the dealer look at it

My won experience was first hour top speed maybe 40, but like Deric, I didn't want to push it either. So I just had fun. After 5 hours I was able to touch 60 plus, still not sure I had full power at that time. 10 hours or prior it was full power. Ecco will always keep you slow. I don't see any top end different between normal and sport mode, but throttle response is a lot better. I get better fuel economy on long trips at high speeds when not in sport mode. Trim up too. I played around, I don't see a difference between full up trim to one click down from full up. Anything less I see slower top ends and cannot tell the difference between handling.
