I just received mine today I plan on breaking it in tomorrow, I bought Lucas marine grease and a grease gun and filled the grease holes on the outboard motor full of grease and popped off the propeller and greased the shaft all I have to do now is add the gear oil and run it..

Aloha Christine, I'm in Hawai'i, and your report is encouraging. I can't afford a new Japan-made outboard so this chicom one is now a serious option. Have you had to replace any parts? Mahalo nui!
@christinesmith76255 жыл бұрын
no parts yet just put in new spark plug mine is 2 years old make sure you break in motor as instructions say use tcw oil in gas motor starts I pull every time make sure after using motor in salt water you flush motor with fresh water after use you can get parts on e bay under hangkai 6 hp 2 stroke

Been running my daily for a few months now (going spearfishing in the ocean) :p i would suggest a fuel filter so u dont need to clean it as often (the hole is less than 0.5mm) actually drilled mine to 0.5 and added a fuel filter so it went a bit more powerful and less chance of clogging. And you should definitely replace the On/Off fuel switch because its a failed design where your fuel flow is random and you will endup paddle paddle all the way home (rubber hose around the knob which is loose so 3 holes need to matchup and the middle part "match" is random and even when its a perfect match the fuel runs very slow. (if you do full gas and it sounds like it missfiire its because you only gets drops going through the switch)

Did you go out in the océan with yours?
@Nickerian913 жыл бұрын
@@thornyturtleranch4u yes i use it almost daily on the ocean (when im there) got it running pretty smooth. the main issue is the fuel switch and clogging due to lack of filter but i would not take any long trips it is rater slow

Is the motor still going strong? Just received mine. I paid $650 (plus $50 shipping and tax), compared $549 you paid. Hopefully, it runs well. Did you breakt it in the lake? I see all other people break it in trash cans. I wonder breaking it in the lake make it less "durable".

Thinking of buying one for my inflatable. Have you had any issues with it, and how fast does it push your Jon boat?
@texcntryboy485 жыл бұрын
Well, considering how much weight we were pushing, we did about 10 mph. Both me and my friend are not a couple of lightweights!! I'm happy with it for the price I paid.

Whats the overall review? I keep hearing mixed comments on these chinese engines. When they run, they seem to be run ok, however when something breaks, people are reporting they cannot find parts
@texcntryboy485 жыл бұрын
Christine Smith said that you can find replacement parts on Ebay. My review on it is it's a fairly decent motor and for the price, it does exactly as says it would do. I haven't had issues with it yet.
@Nickerian914 жыл бұрын
the engine is amazing and pretty solid design not much can go wrong with a 2 stroke engine. there is 2 things that i i would count as wrong but they aint really a part of the "engine" itself. The fuel switch has a failed design where the fuel flow will be random and sometimes it will be completely shut (a rubber hose over the "knob" which is not attached so it spins freely around the rod (knob) so 3 holes need to matchup and the middle part is random. you will endup paddle paddle home if you dont replace or bypass it. The hole in the carburetor is less than 0.5mm wide which means it will be clogged easily so adding a fuel filter is required if you dont want to keep opening it up (i actually drilled it up to 0.5mm which gave me a bit more power and more stable run) If you go for a bigger engine this is less of a problem since the hole is bigger by default to let more fuel into the cylinder. (yes bigger engines run more stable than low powered engines just for this reason)
