I love how you turned out this page, especially how the blues and greens intertwine. You could try to make the stains with a toothbrush. That way they will come out much more spontaneously. That's how I usually do it in my journals.

I loved watching the process you went through fir this beautiful page. Love the free style way you did it and colors so lovely. Love the hearts. I started a altered book journal last year but didn’t take pages out and should have. I’ve used glue sticks to glue two or three pages together and Matt or clear gesso for attaching papers etc but not mod podge and have lots of it so will have to try it too. Do you think it’s a good adhesive for long lasting projects like junk journals?
@ShanoukiArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I have not had any issues with mod podge over time, but I honestly don't know long term. Projects I have made 7 years ago are still good, but not sure what they will look like 30 years from now. Happy creating ❤️
@MNGal15242 жыл бұрын
Love your videos 🙂 but I couldn't get passed the first minute when you tore pages from a Trixie Belden book 😭 While I don't think all books are precious and don't generally have a problem altering books, the Trixie Belden books were a special part of my childhood. They were the first books I ever bought with my own money, survived every home move I made, and still sit on my bookshelves even though I'm in my 50's. I'll keep watching but it's going to take me a minute to recover 😉

Would you layer the pages of you bought the proper weight for multi-media?
@sandrabart5924 Жыл бұрын
90-110 lb (approx 180-260 gsm): is recommended for multi-media paper.
@ShanoukiArt Жыл бұрын
I would probably still layer to get the dimension in the final design.
@paulsmary26153 жыл бұрын
love your tutorials, Ive just started on Art Journaling and am loving it .... that little 'dryer' you use, is that just a mini hair dryer ?
@ShanoukiArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 😁 The dryer is actually a heating tool for embossing, but you can use a hair dryer too :-)

I was also starting to cut out images, but they were too thin to work with..
@ShanoukiArt4 жыл бұрын
Elize Kohler could you stick them into cardstock to make them easier to work with ☺️
@elizekohler61994 жыл бұрын
I might be able to, depends on how I want to use it. As art journaling the pages are printed on both sides. Cardstock will make it thicker to stick in journal. But I'll try, thanks 👍

Do you end up removing pages from your book as you go? I’ve seen a lot of folks prep the book by removing random pages to keep the spine from splitting as the book gets thicker.
@ShanoukiArt4 жыл бұрын
kanona0115 hi, I probably will as I go. I have seen people do that too. I didn’t want to start ripping just yet, I will probably rip out a couple of pages then start my next layout ☺️

Why do you cover up most of your work?
@ShanoukiArt2 жыл бұрын
It’s not intentional, it just happens as I work intuitively but the little bits that shine through is great so that is why I always put so many layers ☺️
@claudiacooper19343 жыл бұрын
Ok so I see a reason for layering but I do not see the point of using anything other than book pages or some other graphic paper. Taking time to fussy cut flowers that do not "shine through". As you say. No thank you. Nor do your dots "shine through"
@ShanoukiArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment Claudia. All the layers play a role and it is also the process that counts, especially in art journaling. You never know what exactly is going to 'shine through' at the end but you are building layers towards an end result. Have a great day 🤗❣️

I'm fine with altering books *but* OMG that's a book about chocolate... *CHOCOLATE* ! How could you do such a thing? That's outright blaspheme. I can hear the Chocolate Deities crying. Yes I'm joking but I wish I could read it before you used it. Me
