That happened to me in the first few days after Construction released, except I was the weird homeless guy. I was in some low-level house party for a while and it was kind of dead so I didn't notice everyone was gone but did notice the build hotspots everywhere, I went to the kitchen where the owner was and he just freaked out. Turns out he kicked everyone and went into building mode, but I was somehow still there. I remember he actually built a larder to test if I could see it, and I couldn't attempt to build anything because the game knew I wasn't the house owner. Unfortunately back in 2006 I was too dumb to take screenshots and I've never seen anyone reproduce it since, so I can't prove it. But POH was always full of bugs and that's how we got the Falador massacre, so maybe it doesn't seem that crazy in hindsight.

Rendi, not sure if you remember but about a year-and-a-half ago, there were lots of videos circulating, even have one but not on this channel. There are people that with leg out when the servers were horrible and they would get glitched into second floor planes. For instance, I could walk around on top of the duel Arena anywhere, even where there were no objects, all over al kharid, the same with Camelot.

It's important to remember that QA does not have final say in whether or not an issue gets *fixed*. Often times, many of the issues that make it to customers were actually found and tracked, but were risks that a development team deemed acceptable to ship a product or update with. QA rarely has the ability to completely block releases, they're informers to product owners.

Not 100 % certain, but this looks very similar to an event I handled for another mom. My guess is that's exactly one world per data centre. Instance use is - or should be - a co-ordinated event (servers will tell each other when things leave or enter instances to prevent a paft into a safe death zone leading to dupes). I think those are the master nodes for some of the backend services, but this can change to get off a server showing minor failures. As such those nodes can clear out instance X in less than a tick, and then the instance creation pointer doesn't have to increment. To find an empty slot, and this gloriouness ensures.

7:35 Maby that is the case because they have a specifc amount of memory alocated towards tiles? So if a map usually consists of 196 * 196 = 65,536 tiles, that requires 65,536 bits to map the tiles to. 2^16 = 65,536 and the allocation of an integer (most likely a tile id) however, equiates to 2^16 - 1 = 65,535 bit locations. This explains why you get skipped 1 position to the next tile when loading in. This is because when it's time for your location to be alocated to the map, it finds 1 bit less than it expects. This is a very common computer science error and Jagex has made it in the past before.

You can get to level 2 (floor 1) in the Gnome Stronghold houses. When you go up the ladder it can spawn you to the side of the upstairs ladder instead of in front of it like normal. This lets you walk on tiles out of bounds. Not sure if patched as I don't play anymore.

The game probably has a temporary 'buffer' that records your last instance and if you rejoin that instance with in a "very small" window of time it reloads the same instance. Probably as a way to account for small disconnects. Which would explain why it works better on some worlds as opposed to others. The code itself is probably on the server side. Just a guess though.

Instances are created in empty chunks, it goes in order like you said, once a instance is destroyed it leaves empty chunk for next instance to be created in, hence why you sometimes get same chunk because noone created new instance and took over that chunk

This is what I originally thought, but it always seemed to go right. Even after closure and no new generations, because the only thing that closes those instances is a new generation. You can see this if you go to clan wars on an f2p 1500 total world with 20 people. The clan wars coords will never end and stay open for literally hours until someone else or more likely yourself opens another instance elsewhere. I also tested this on dead worlds, like pvp worlds, so if that was the case I would consistently be mapping to the same coordinates on those worlds. But this never happened in these worlds, after hours of testing, never. Also I think if you look at 8:55 it shows me mapping entirely backwards, not to the same chunk, but several chunks left, and I had other cases where I would map upwards of 5 coords backwards - this only happened in highly specific worlds. Your theory is what whurse thought as well, but turns out to not hold up for some reason here, and he sees that now as well. I am still questioning myself as to why with no other relations but specific worlds (some populated some not)

@@RendiMento it closes once no players are in the instance anymore, not when new one is created, wouldnt be unefficient to first look for a instance, remove it, create new one everytime someone would tele to house Example: coord start 0000, 0000, creates 8x8 chunk, coords be 64, 64, next one 128, 128, first instance is destroyed cus he leaves his house, next person who teles to house, creates it at 64, 64, kinda like PID was 5 people login after a server restart, player 1 named harry has pid, while andreas is 4, harry logsout, and andreas relogs, andreas gets pid 1, new guy logs in, get 4th pid cus it wasnt linked to any player, and harry logs in again and gets pid 6 Could always be wrong since noone of us rly seen original rs runescript

I tested over 10 hrs on dead worlds, and if this were true i would have kept getting rpreated coords in demon slayer but I never once got a copycat coordinate in these worlds. Also you could re enter a house on the same coordinates with no one in it after leaving for and standing outside upwards of 2 minutes bc the house won't close unless someone else in the game world opens an instance. Even if it instantly closed it wouldn't explain the actual left + backwards mapping of ~150x150 tiles as well seen at 8:57

Seems like some of the app pools are programmed to periodically recycle. That would make sense of why certain times of the day you were experiencing a tile reset of sorts. Ive seen it happen in a few places that I've worked. You just had to find the right server with the right kind of instance memory assignment in order to proceed.
