It’s because Nash was an actual star player who (very controversially) won awards over some of the most popular figures in basketball history, which made him more polarizing and easier to scrutinize. People wanted to see him fail based off of his accolades as a player. With JJ people don’t really care.

They FIRE a Championship coach Vogel after GUTTING the roster and even though I think Ham was TERRIBLE, but he did make the WCF, and he's had experience as an assistant coach on pretty good teams and HIRE Reddick who coaches his kids AAU team? At some point this is on the owner and GM because as great a LeBron is he's on the downside of his career and had his greatest success when team President/GM didn't let him dictate who the coach would be. What championship level players want to play for a 1st time HC with ZERO NBA coaching experience. They are going to get ROASTED this season and rightfully so!!

My concern is that this will end up being a "Steve Nash coaching Kyrie and KD in the Nets" typa situation. Too many expectations and when the results don't come, they will point all the fingers towards JJ and he'll have to become the scape goat like all the other head coaches in this league

Redick has all the potential to be a great coach. He was a four year All American at Duke who studied under Coach K, a great role player in the NBA, and a basketball historian. If Monty Williams had gotten the job, it would have been for reasons other than merit.
