Kraven should have been released in the summer. It is the exact opposite of a Christmas movie. Wicked and Moana 2 are something people can take their kids to watch. Kraven is for adults. Movies like Miracle of 34th street, the Santa Clause, Home Alone, Die Hard, It's a Wonderful Life are what people want to watch this time of year.

It's definitely a seasonal issue. The entertainment industry has had that issue for years. Nosferatu opens Christmas day and is only getting 1-2 shows in some major cities compared to multi theater screenings of Wicked. I don't know why they even thought December made sense, but it's definitely a calculated move rather than a sign of the films quality or lack thereof.

IMO, the trailer actually looks pretty decent. I’m definitely gonna try to go see it. People are quick to not give it a chance due to the fact it won’t have Spiderman in it, which I can understand their frustration as Spiderman is my favorite superhero, but it would be hard to make a Kraven story if every time he was doing something “bad”, Spiderman just came in and whooped his ass. 😂 Granted, after the failures of Madam Web and Morbius, I can see why people are tired of these spinoffs, but I’m still willing to give it a chance. A Sinister Six movie still isn’t out the picture, so they could just be building the backstory for these characters before fully diving into that film.

So, I spent some time in the movie theater industry (many years ago) and my recollection is that the movie theaters themselves don't really start to make money from ticket sales until after a movie has been in the theaters for a few weeks. Initially, the majority of the ticket money goes back to the studio (or distributor), which is how they tend to front load a lot of blockbusters. So, it would seem like the theaters would push back against a movie like Kraven, given that it already has been tagged as a 'flop', since they could make a lot more money off of Wicked or Moana 2 and not have the double whammy of an empty theater showing a brand new movie...

Sure because Disney's a bastion of good quality writing, rather create a gofund so Disney can lose the rights to all Marvel characters and they get given to Ryan Reynolds because at least he's shown a desire to make Marvel properties entertaining to watch which is something both Sony and Disney have shown zero interest in with their more recent failures and I'm obviously not counting Deadpool and Wolverine because Disney had very little creative control in its production.

I'm reading this comment thread and I'm just like, "man everyone is a damn critic!" Comparing films that were five years or more apart. As a child I enjoyed the first Spiderman trilogy. Amazing Spiderman was alright. The new Spiderman films with Tom Holland are great. But I respect that times and audiences have changed and my opinion on what they should or should not do may not be the best for business. We live in tough times economically, everyone is on edge, ready to cancel negate or crucify anything that doesn't pander or cater to specific groups. When films try to be more inclusive they hate it, when films aren't accurate enough they hate it, when films don't cast the right actors they hate it. I remember growing up and making up some of the LEAST lore accurate superhero scenarios with my buddies and friends and laughing about it. Now I'm supposed to crucify movie companies that attempt to get creative or break norms? Count me out!

I mean tbh Sony releases bad movies and this one looks meh-average at best. I love Kraven but definitely feel like Sony drops the ball when it comes to these movies. They should legit just license all their characters to MCU and just get royalties whenever one of the characters are used..... They do nothing and prob get the same as what they bring in alone maybe even more.
