Might be an unpopular opinion but I am more than ok with this. Polo last year played through a knee injury. A healthy Polanco is an above average player. Combine that with Edgar and Seitzer. He’ll be good next year

There is a higher likely we’ll be discussing a DFA for Polo pre August, while simultaneously knowing the M’s are too cheap to eat his salary. This is the most probable outcome. To say otherwise is wishful thinking.

I like Polanco at 3rd. Let’s hope he has a great year at the plate. I was sad to see him go and was surprised when they didn’t sign Rojas because there’s no free agent miracle worker for 3rd base out there. This gives Bliss an opportunity to step up. Dylan Moore is a golden glove winner. This is a good group! 🔱

Great move! With what was out there all offseason long Polo is a great get. In the end he is still a solid vet. Ignore last year and look and every previous year

You already know Polo was going off if the Astros signed him. I'll take that as a positive at the very least

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. i refused to believe in the perennial mediocrity that was thrown in my face as a fledgling mariners fan 10 years ago. The old timers all looked at me with a twinkle in their eye and said "youll understand one day young fellah". years later they clinch a playoff appearance that, while entertaining, has in hindsight proven to be as *anticlimactic* as anything ive ever witnessed in sports. they are throwing away the golden window and it's sickening. that all being said im sure they'll make the WS now that ive made this comment -_-
@ryanhart28058 сағат бұрын
@@kaleiwaheait’s okay, I don’t think you need to worry too much. It’s awfully hard to make the WS, so fortunately, when that isn’t really your ultimate goal … it’s pretty easy to not make it by accident.

Not sure Polanco has the arm for third. I’d keep him at second. 3B - Solano / Gold Glover Dmo 2B - Polanco / Bliss 1B - Raley / Solano

Was a big fan of Polanco coming back at the end of the season. Understood why he was declined (injury and poor performance), but I like the move to bring him back on a more team friendly contract. I especially like the 1 year aspect and think he will put in a really solid effort to get one more solid paycheck going into '26. Hope he can be Geno-ish at 3B.

What excites me about this is that a guy signed a one year "prove it" deal to play in the worst hitters park in the league. This makes me think he just really likes playing in Seattle and believes that if he is healthy he can produce. I low key think this is a really big move.
@jaredgunderson65303 сағат бұрын
It’s possible Polo bounces back and has a very solid season now that he is (hopefully) healthy. Personally, I won’t expect it to happen, but will hopefully be surprised.
@wordsdistorted2 сағат бұрын
Surprised, but pretty okay with it at this point. I do think he and Garver should end having better years than last year at least.

Ahoy guys!! Not the best move to play the “what if he’s better this year” strategy, but I’m happy with it 😁💛💙
@davidpankey233 сағат бұрын
At the very least, he should hopefully not be batting 3rd to start the season as he did a year ago. Given his age, being in a new environment, and the ballpark, it didn't make much sense. The batting order should hopefully work better than a year ago,when the decision to have Polo bat 3rd arguably was the biggest contributor to the slow start. Julio obviously struggled as well, but Polo's struggles behind him made it obvious Julio wasn't comfortable batting 2nd. Ideally it would be nice to have a roster where Julio could bat 3rd and Cal 5th, but that's asking too much with this ownership.
@lavonwatson881411 сағат бұрын
The T-Mobile Park effect is unchanged, the only real change is Polanco will receive less money than last year and moves to third. Yawn....

Mariners Non-tender Rojas and move Polanco to 3rd... Do we consider this an offseason signing?
@xmcdaniel9549Сағат бұрын
I like Polo hope he does well. Biggest concern is back leg as a LHH had the operation. Could sap pop some. He had a couple years at 300 tb, even in 200s he’s 2.5 war. Still think bulk deal for Robert is the path to a real bat. Also the Padres AAA 3b u talked about, still get him they need a back end starter type, Evans seems fair, maybe add a non 40 man guy.

I've got a great idea about how to get Alonso. Just need to get the Mets to re sign him to a one year 30 mil contract, then Immediately trade him to Seattle for Castillo and haniger to free up the money to pay Alonso, and throw in Ford as their incentive to take Haniger.
@bryanzimmermann437211 сағат бұрын
Im good with it that they brought him in when they did at 7 mill. I still think they need an every day 1st baseman that can produce. Alonso is beyond our reach, but maybe trade for Torkelson or Mountcastle. Hell were loaded with middle infield prospects. Put one of them up and Hancock.
@Michael-id9bw10 сағат бұрын
I'll just say that Raley put up far better numbers than Mountcastle or Torkelson did last season, and he did it playing half his games at the worst hitters park in the league.

We are back to being the same team that finished out last year. Oh, wait, no Justin Turner. Replaced by a lower cost Donovan Solano. Hope Polo's knee is okay this year. Not upset but very disappointed at the failure of ownership to invest in our historically good pitching staff. It wouldn't have been much $$$ in the big picture. Understand that this is what ownership really thinks about us fans.

Tommy Kahnle just signed yesterday with Detroit on a 1 yr / $7.5 million deal. That would have been a better use of your limited funds. Go get a lights-out bullpen if you really can’t do anything else offensively. No disrespect to Polo as a person, could be a nice guy and good teammate, but we all know the most likely outcome next season is somewhere b/w bad and mediocre. Why do we do this to ourselves?
