Agree 100% The good folks at Eon are too savvy to do anything but ensure that any announcement regarding 26 will be an orchestrated EVENT, especially considering it coincides with revealing a new actor in the role. While being patient certainly is a big ask of us in the rabid fanbase, there really is nothing more that we can do in the interim.

I would generally suggest Goldfinger, TSWLM or Goldeneye, as perfect examples of what a Bond movie should be. I think if they can get a 3-4 picture commitment, and maybe work on the movies as a continuous series, that might reinvigorate the movies without changing the formula. Really build towards a climactic trilogy conclusion instead of having to retrofit the series like they did with Craig’s era. Can’t wait to see what happens though. The speculation is fun and part of Bond fandom is waiting for the next Bond announcement! It’s only happened 5 times in 60 years.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I sort of feel Barbara Broccoli is killing the character of James Bond by making the character more palatable to modern audiences. I kind of want my Bond to be cold and ruthless and a bit of a womanizer and not very PC. I want my Bond to exist outside the world of HR departments and woke culture. Hi David, I would love a new Bond film. It’s my favorite film series of all time and the books are fascinating. I don’t personally read anything into Ms. Broccoli’s quote. I still think they may have painted themselves into a corner with the ending of NTTD. I think EON is taking time to work out the next steps. The next iteration of Bond will be challenging, perhaps the most challenging of any series transition. I wish the Bond films would return to being made and released every two years, but that’s where we’re at now. I watched No Time to Die for the first time on Sunday night. I had been putting it off as I suspected it was going to be garbage. I had no idea what was going to happen as I had steered clear of any reviews etc. and basically had lived a hermit life since 2019 caring for someone dear to me, who sadly died 3 weeks ago. So, the movie began and I was pleasantly surprised - the opening was excellent. It set everything up and it felt like this was 'more' than a Bond movie, it might be something special. Pacing was good - already better than the snoozefests that Sam M. was responsible for. 30 minutes in, happy enough. Then things went downhill, and fast. The introduction of the black lesbian (I'm guessing) '007'. The overlong scenes. The 'I got this' used in every single stupid tv/movie. They.. killed Felix?! Blofeld going with a whimper?! That Swann woman appearing far too soon and Bond cutting an apple for a little girl? The alarming instability of the new Land Rover Defenders and what was an excellent ad for a 20 year old Toyota Landcruiser?! The use of the 'f word'?! With an hour to go, I was thoroughly bored and felt I was no longer watching a Bond movie. Genuinely wishing it would end. But no there's more.. Anyway, you all know how it went and frankly, having recently experienced death and all the terrible things associated with it.. I foolishly thought I could count on Bond to provide, what's that word again... escapism. That was what Bond was. Not now. I was angry at the end. Really, really angry. I'm still angry a few days later. And totally baffled. Who on earth was that movie aimed at? Certainly not me, a guy who saw about 10 Bonds in the cinema and who's watched them all! So, that's it for me and Bond. Never again, thanks. The new presumably homosexual reboot can eff off. Skyfall, Spectre, No Time to Die - all pathetic. Not sure why but Casino Royale Part 2, aka Quantum of Solace gets lower rankings then those movies, and in fact it's probably the most Bond movie of all Bond movies. I feel that Ian Fleming is rolling in his grave. I feel that the Broccoli woman and Daniel Craig, who I believe is an idiot, have treated Fleming, the Bond name and its community with complete disrespect, and, like I said, that's me done. I will continue to enjoy Tom Cruise and his excellent MI movies - the real James Bond. YOU DON'T KILL JAMES BOND, AND MOAN TO PEOPLE HOW HARD LIFE IS WHEN THEY HAVE IT WORSE. Absolute dickheads, everyone involved in No Time to Die. Yours sincerely, Luke from Ireland. ps. Also reminded us just how beautiful Vesper was compared to that Swann woman, which again makes no sense!

On the Cavill/Johnson/? debate: 1. If they decide on Cavill, they’ll have to move fast (without sacrificing quality) to release one at least every 3 years to have hope for a “trilogy”. - But if they’re worried they can’t write good material that fast then, 2. Go with Johnson to have more time to ensure quality stories. 3. Maybe they’ll find someone better 4. They go off the rails like some other franchises (which I doubt bc Bond isn’t just any franchise, but you never know these days)

ATJ has the voice of a prepubescent boy; that is not Bond. It took Barbara for a while to settle on Daniel Craig. After 9/11 she let go Peirce Bronson and it took four years for Barbara to settle on Daniel Craig. As for a new bond,like her I'm patience on a new bond. I can tell u everyone in twitter has been guessing who new bond would be. Don't forget Barbara is patence. Just a reminder finding a new Bond isn't easy. A new actor but she wants an actor to appeal to all Bond fans.

They don't know where to take the character and the franchise next. Do they go back to the style of classic Bond? Last seen in the Brosnan era or stick with the Bourne/ Craig style of film. Whatever they do I hope they plan out a story arc properly, instead of retroactively trying to connect all the Craig era movies together which didn't work.

Good common sense. It is frustrating not getting any news after all this time but Barbara isn't going to give a reporter on a red carpet an exclusive before any official announcement. These announcements can come out the blue. I remember all the speculation before they cast Daniel when they announced him it was a shock and people were saying who the heck is he and worse. He wasn't a fan favourite then but he is now. I'm cool with whoever they cast. There hasn't been a bad Bond or bad film just some we like more than others. If the next film is Moonraker 2 and features a Lotus Esprit that turns into a spaceship I'll be very happy. 😂

Barbara Broccoli once said that they'll make the Bond films as long as people go to see them. Since No Time To Die flopped at the box office, she's not very enthusiastic about continuing the franchise especially since Daniel Craig is gone. She even stated in a NTTD interview that she's in denial about Craig leaving. Funny how after Die Another Day, she couldn't wait to get rid of Pierce Brosnan but now that Craig is gone, she doesn't know what to do next. No casting and no script indicates that one day she'll make a formal announcement that franchise is coming to an end. And after seeing Bond die for the 1st time ever, it couldn't be more well timed.

Space nerd/geek here; Script wise, I'd always hoped to see Bond go into space again for (x reasons, they'll figure out a script) I want them to work with any one of the space programs happening right now and use a REAL launch facility,rockets and such. If they want something remote I always thought the spaceport in French Guiana had the perfect aesthetic for a super villain hideout and is very reminiscent to Moonraker. With today's budget and popularity of anything SPACE related they could easily make it all look real with a good script and story. It would be a great way to blast off into the next Bond stretch!! Watching Daniel Craig leave is still bitter sweet and an epic Space themed movie would punch 007 right back into momentum!

I still have a difficult time envisioning Cavill for the role. He's Superman. And most audiences will see him that way--they won't see James Bond. It's just too big of a coat for Cavill to take off in order to put on another big coat. EON will likely want to avoid that.

Well done David as usual. The concern is the period of time it takes to star the ball rolling again. As you said at the top of the video its been a very long time since they finished shooting, and then released NTTD. So why hasn't a bunch of script ideas been put together in that time, that would allow options for a final story to take shape ready for the new guy...whoever he maybe? In the past EON have been shovelling on the coal when it came to story ideas...Richard Maibaium must have written them in his sleep and Micky G would throw his two bits into the ring and before you know it you had a script ready to go. We're so hungry, we've been in touch with Bob Geldof about organising a fundraiser.....I know Barbara is the custodian and that she has a lot on her plate, but if thats the case she needs to focus on Bond and stop buying big plates...she doesn't have to fill them every meal time. They remind me of the Harry Salesman days actually. Cubby focused on Bond, Harry off putting money into perfume, or film stock, or other movie projects.....we need good news and soon I hope.

The Batman 2 is going into production real soon and it's coming out on October 2025. I bet Bond 26 will still be in limbo. Spider-Man 4 have no cast, no script, no director, and not even a title. I bet you that film will be in theaters way before Bond 26. I have zero confidence in Barbara Broccoli and Micheal G. Wilson. Speaking of Mike. The hell man? Do something? You not getting younger.

There are obviously a lot of Bond fans who really like NTTD but there are also those who dislike it quite a bit. I'm in the second group and as I'm also not too keen on Spectre either, that means it has been over 10 years since a new Bond movie made it into my top 10 or anywhere near it. In the good old days of a new Bond movie every few years, if you didn't like a movie, at least you knew there is another one in the pipeline. That isn't the case any more. Since Spectre in 2015, I have not enjoyed the most recent Bond movie and I don't like that situation as a Bond fan. I remember feeling quite proud to be a Bond fan due to the critical success and quality of Skyfall and I miss that feeling. The reason I might be a little impatient for Bond26 to start pre-production is I am keen to move on from Spectre and NTTD with a hopefully new direction for the series.

Ever since I found out how much of a Bond fan Edgar Wright is I would really like to see what he could do with a Bond film. Your idea that Eon would go to a director and get them on board could make for an exciting and creative new chapter. However, I'm wary after hearing of what became of Danny Boyle, why did that fail so spectacularly? Edgar Wright would absolutely bring in exciting action (Baby Driver) with beautiful, stylish visuals (Last Night in Soho), and perhaps with some modern humour (we need some after the darkness of the last installment) (see his hilarious Hot Fuzz with Timothy Dalton). I love that he said all Bond actors are milk chocolate or dark chocolate, every era needs a different type of Bond and we're entering a new era! Thanks for all your content, I love your videos, but this is my first comment. Keep up the good work!

John Hodge-Boyle's writer-said Eon didn't like his script and wanted re-writes so both him and Boyle left. I do think a director would need to be willing to work with Eon [like Christopher Nolan worked with David S. Goyer in the Dark Knight Trilogy] rather than think they could run the show and Wright got burnt with Ant Man in the MCU but Wright has worked with Co-writers on most of his films and in several genre's. I'll believe it when I see it but he'd be a good candidate.

I do think you start with a script before the actor since you need to decide a lot of things about the future Bond (serious/funny, period piece, continuity, etc.). And "we don't have a script yet" I think/hope does not mean we have not started yet, just that it isn't solid. I also agree its just a red carpet quote and probably more has been done than it "implies". But... I still think they should be farther along given all the delays with No Time to Die and it is unfortunate it seems they wanted to see that all play out before they worked the next film. Also, I would still like to think 2025 is possible. I feel 2026 is a worst case scenario and hearing you say 2027 is just scary, being 6 years after the 2021 (much delayed) release of No Time To Die. For what it is worth, my bigger concern: while I am willing to give some time to make this big change, when you release the next film I would like to see at least two more films with no more than 2 years between each of them. If you are going to tell me that in the modern era it takes 4 to 6 years to make every Bond film, I think EON needs to take a very serious look at their process.

Sam Mendes recently said that he felt Spectre didn't have enough development time so he clearly felt even 3 years was too short. The hellish production of Quantum probably has put them off 2 year gaps to be honest [and that schedule in the 90's was only kept by changing directors each time]. 2026 probably would be a good start as it would be 20 years since the last reboot.
@DAndHGamer
@DAndHGamer Жыл бұрын
@@jamesatkinsonja That is a fair point. I guess it also depends on the expectation. Mendes was the first back to back director since the Dalton era and if they are planning that level of continuity maybe there is consideration. But I do think you have to try to grow the fandom. While I am not asking for Marvel Movie pace (again, some extent different actors and directors), if an 8th grader going and getting excited about the new Bond film might not get another until they are out of high school I think it becomes hard. Clearly they are going to do what they think is best anyway. :-) Thanks.

I think the biggest issue with bond right now is they just don’t know where they want to go with the character. Logically if they are keeping up with the times bond should be digital savvy but it’s such a small footprint to work with. I still maintain the bond casting will follow the hiring of non big name actors as they have traditionally done this. If they do switch up for name actors I still would love Idris Elba over Arron or even Henry if he were to slightly bulk down.

Idris Elba specifically said he doesn't want to play the character, primarily due to the reasoning that he doesn't fit the description of the character. IE he addressed the elephant in the room. I'm not saying you need to pump out a movie every 6 months like Marvel, but a single 2. hour movie every 5 years is no longer enough to keep a franchise alive. They haven't filmed since 2019, they had 2 years of lockdowns to be working on this, and where were they? Nowhere. Where were they on the 60th anniversary? Nowhere.
